Fireinthehole
While playing a trial 18 at a local club I wanted to join, I had my first real issue with music on the course. This foursome comes music blaring- and I do mean blaring, as I am about to tee off on number 10. They looked like they'd had a few. I didn't mind the music; who doesn't like a little Zeppelin, but the volume and them being 5yds away was not a good combination. It was a good example of what not to do. I teed off with no problem, but not a good experience. The foursome ahead of them was far more cordial and let me play through right away. HoleNOne11
I don't mind at all. I don't listen to music unless I'm practicing then I'll put in the headphones. PAgolfer2017
When I had a membership at my local course, I'd often go out early and walk as a single. I have a Puma Soundchuck and would strap it to my bag and play music as I walk. I've tried wireless earbuds, but never liked golfing with them in. I was always mindful of any groups around, and would turn it down or pause it when I would get close to others. When I'm playing in a group, I often will leave the speakers in the bag unless everyone else wants to listen, but again, I don't think there's any place for playing it so loud others can hear. PokeForeLyfe
What do you think about tunes on the course? Ok in a casual round? What about tournament play? And what if the whole group is ok with it? I play with a bunch of guys most of which play better with the music, ready golf and a quick but relaxed pace. Some of the guys want the music as loud as can be without it affecting other groups around us. We have a few folks that even like it during a tournament round as long as the group is good with it. Everyone always asks first. What are your thoughts? Should it be ok if the group approves? Another rule gone too far by the USGA? eproos44
I think in the context that you have put it music on the course is ok. However, I think the way your group does it is a rarity. Usually people blast the music with no care of the other groups around. Golf is fun, so why not add some music if everyone is ok with it. PokeForeLyfe
We usually walk the course and one of us has a Bose speaker on their walking cart. If we approach a green which is near a tee box or other green the music immediately gets turned down. We did have one tournament announce that music was not allowed per usga rule and the foursome I played in really wanted to have some playing. It's been relaxing for me on the course and I've no issue as long as it isn't disrupting others. This game is complicated enough with all of the rules. Loosen up a bit and we might find people more interested in playing.
