There has been a shift of tolerance over the past few years on this topic. Interested to hear people's stance/opinions or even a story or two around “tunes on the track”.

Doesn't bother you or no way in hell?

For me, I have a little Boom Swimmer Speaker which I can secure to my bag or cart and listen to music when and where I can, but I am also considerate of other groups. When approaching another tee box or perhaps someone playing a shot near me, I will turn it down. Never too loud either - Should be enjoyable but not overpowering.

In saying that, if a bangin tune comes on… Maybe a little RATM, Chilly Peppers, CCR, heck even Beyoncé beltin out Déjà Vu!!! …. I may bump it a notch or two!! I'm only human!

Apologies if this topic has been discussed in detail prior and I'm floogin a dead horse here!!!

Birds chirping, and the wind is the only type of music I care to hear on the course.

With music, I feel like you miss what you should be there to enjoy. NATURE

And yes it was a rather hot topic last year.

Fair enough :) Thanks for the feedback. I am easy on whether I do or don't. If the rest of my group is for it, it's all systems go. If even only one guy says no, I leave it off.

Thanks for the note ED13. I have played with people that throw one ear bud in and are still able to have the best of both worlds. I used to do that with snow boarding. Had the uphill ear free so I could hear if someone was yelling for me to get out the way!

Maybe this belongs in the rant thread but in addition to your comment I'd add - why do people have to put their phones on speaker. Happens whether it's in the store, airplane , etc.

Merged [emoji6][emoji8] Still, great idea for a thread.

I've got some Bluetooth headphones that I keep forgetting to bring out but also a little JBL clip that goes nicely on my walking cart. Works great if I'm by myself on the range but it's distracting on the course unless we're in a scramble with brewskis.

A good buddy I play with HATES music and totally loses his cool if he heard it in anyone elses carts on the course. Multiple ends of the spectrum huh?

I have a couple of groups I play with were we do play music. Very softly were no one but our group can here it. Then I play with another couple of groups were you better not whisper while someone is about to hit. When we do play music it's a friendly game, drinking usually involved, but no one is drunk or loud. Whatever floats your boat I guess.

I'll listen to music if I'm out playing by myself, but that's about it. If someone else in my group wants to listen to music, I generally don't mind. Constant noise doesn't bother me, it's sudden noise that gets me.

One of my golf buddies cannot stop talking. Ever. I've told him that it's fine, just don't stop talking while I'm trying to hit.

LOL! Love it.

I don't go crazy with it. It's usually just loud enough that the myself and the my group can hear it. I find the guys that crank it are the ones that may not have been around the game that long, perhaps on a stag etc.

I have told people to turn it down on the course. "While we may call the green a dance floor.... this ain't no disco tech mate"

I go without 98% of the time- I like to be in tune, so to speak, but a little music can be refreshing from time to time.

My wife has music on when she comes out and plays, but I am not a fan of it on the golf course. I prefer being out in nature and enjoying the course. But I also don't listen to music at work like a lot of people do either.

Played with someone last week who had one of those Bushnell speakers in the cart playing music. He asked me how I liked it, and gave an honest opinion. He shut it off and that was that. I much prefer to be immersed in the entire experience that golf provides, including the natural sounds on the course.

I know this still is a VERY taboo topic so I'll tread lightly 😛

In the words of the great Joe Dirte, "I'm a rocker through and through" and can't live my life without music. That said, I grew up playing golf so I know the etiquette of the game.

I do have a golf cart speaker that I bring with me. I don't ever start out blaring the music like I'm trying to kick off some kind of party though. Some rounds I'll go an entire round without music and won't miss having it. Other rounds I'll turn on music at a very ambient level that really can only be heard from inside the golf cart. If I'm ever playing with people that I don't know I'll ALWAYS ask if they're ok with a little music. I don't recall ever being told no but I still ask and assume that I'm imposing on them so if ever told no, I'll happily oblige without any judgement.

A few times I've asked and a few holes later they say "I thought you were going to play music". I was but just not at a volume that anyone but me can hear inside the cart. Literally, once I step outside to take my shot, everything goes quiet as it should and I'm alone in my golf thoughts for that moment. Also, the music that I listen to on the course is always a relaxing, non aggressive style of music. In between shots, this helps me calm my nerves and keep my tempo right where it should be without getting over excited when I can end up rushing shots.

So in a nutshell, yes I play music on the course, but if I can't hear my ambient music in the cart over your max volume Van Halen Eruption from the next hole over, then we're gonna have a talk. 😘
