Two forces collided to yield not my best round.  First, I took a lesson!  Too many bad habits had creeped into my swing that I had to seek professional help.  We worked mostly with my irons.  I have a nasty habit of losing my spin angle and picking up in my swing.   We started weakening my grip, making a slight adjustment with my hands and ball position at address and widening my stance a little to help me stay down.  It helped as I actually took a few divots with my irons yesterday.

Second, I made the choice of moving forward and playing the senior gold tees.  I was tired of hitting driver, fairway wood and still being short on par fours.  Even though I didn't have my best short game, I still had much more fun at least thinking I had hope of reaching greens in regulation!

image.png.660b07745309ab354fe0e302bc590408.png

I had a decent driving day.  Moving forward put in better positions for my second shots.  I only missed two fairways all day and both missed the fairway by only two or three feet.  The worst part yesterday was when I was in position to score just off the green, I could not execute an up and down.   I had two where I typically average 5 or so.  In the end, it was likely too much thinking and not enough doing.  I consciously wanted to work on the swing changes I was giving earlier this week and though it worked more often than not, sometimes it was a distraction.  I have to more like Yoda:  don't think just do!

First time playing the course and definitely a course where you need to know the layout and place your shots on some holes. Beautiful day though.

i was due for a blow up round and it came today.

Driver was all over the place and the Jumbo Max will be cut off as soon as possible. On a brighter note, I have a new entry in the still aceless thread with this beauty on the Par 3 3rd.

I didn’t realize how close it was until we got to the hole. I asked @Getoffmylawn if that was a gimme, he said nope. 😂

48-42 for a +19 90. 3 putted the final 2 holes and 2 others on the front 9. The greens were running fast in my defense.

Only playing once a week lately I think I've lost some scoring touch. I mashed my drives. Hit 11/14 fairways, but it's hard to break 90 with 38 putts.

Played at noon today, on a blustery day where the temperature hovered between 47- and 51-degrees F. Wind from the northwest, steady at about 15 mph, with gusts approaching 25 mph. Started to drizzle and rain on the back nine, which made it a little more difficult. Hit 9 of 14 fairways, 12 of 18 greens, had a total of 35 putts, as the greens appeared to not have been mowed for a couple days due to the rainy weather here, and speeds were much slower than normal. Longest drive was a wind aided 266 yards, as there was not a lot of roll if any.

Made tee-times for both days next weekend, as the initial weather forecast looks to be similar temperatures, but no rain.

Did use my Red Rooster rain gloves, and they were perfect for the conditions, as my hands stayed both warm and dry. Also, layered up, with my rain jacket over an insulated jacket, again it allowed me to stay reasonably warm and dry.

Week 28 Final Recap

As the weather continues to hold out, we had another 32 scores added to the VCT ledger this week. Here is our honor roll for the week that was:

Low Net Score

This week the honors are shared by two members who both carded impressive net -6 scores!

@Jnoble89 broke 90 for the second time ever in a combined score of 87. Keep up the hard work Jason, that handicap will sink below 20 before you know it!

image.png  image.png

@Siamese Moose shot his lowest score ever! An even par 72! Congratulations on the Personal Best, that is an awesome accomplishment!

image.png  image.png

Low Gross Score

@buckpillar carded a stellar 1 under 69 on his way to earning this week's low gross score badge. Well done! Any round under par deserves our respect and admiration, and you sir have it!

image.png  image.png

Most Net Birdies

@RoverRick is a net birdie machine! He keeps the most net birdies badge for another week with an absurd 11 net birdies carded during this weeks round! Nice shooting!

image.png  image.png

Longest Drive

@J7Hawkins unleashed a massive 346 yard drive on his way to another weekly longest drive badge win. Well done, that is some serious distance!

image.png image.png

We had 8 drives 295 or longer this week:

image.png

Special Mention to @Javs & @dback for placing on the list multiple times! Keep swinging em' long and straight gents!

Week 29 is now open! So get out and play!

Hah! Mine was from Will Ferrell on SNL doing Bob Goulet - he's in a convertible in the woods with a stuffed moose, whom he challenges  to a staring contest which he loses (he always does).
