I see people with clubs that are too light or fit for them make those same type of swings.

Agree and I think the point was that all golfers should be fitted. It is like a good set up and address position. You don’t want to be in a bad position before you even attempt to swing.

I can’t imagine not getting fitted for any club in my bag now.  A long time ago, it used to be only driver and irons but now every club in the bag can be optimized with a fitting.

A great fitter is definitely key.

There is a large segment of the golfing population that is out there for the enjoyment of just being out and socializing and don’t care about equipment, don’t practice and just want to have a good time on the course with friends/famiky. They aren’t getting fit. There are more serious golfers that also like having fun, gamble a little bit on the course that don’t care about equipment. They have been playing for awhile and will buy what they always buy for flex of shaft and off the rack. They will then adjust as they age by going lighter and/or softer.

while fittings have increased over the years they are stiff only utilized by a small segment of golfers

While I agree with you, there are more golfers getting fit today than there were years ago. Especially with all the advances in equipment, options and availability to be fit. While still a small amount that group is growing.
