42 degrees when I started the round this morning and I decided that I would give my last "test" ball an outing today to get a little more info about the ball.

I apparently didn't adjust for the distance loss and did not adjust to needing an extra club along with the cooler weather.

Round was lackluster with a lot of short sided shots into the greens that made scrambling a must today.  I had a decent front 9 with a 37.  2 bogeys and a bird.  Then the back 9 happened.... Went 4 straight bogeys before finally making a par.

Putting speed was terrible today and it showed with having to scramble.

Hoping to get another couple rounds in this week to improve from today's score.

Here is the birdie from the round. 115yds out after 2 good shots on our par 5 number 1 hdcp hole.

Yes the greens are terrible. There are about 5 that look like this.

Today, things finally started to come back together.  I shot the best round in months!  With the exception of two doubles, I played pretty consistently.

image.png.2446ab204f3276211f09d138288e5ef3.png

I hit over 70% of my fairways (and again, the misses left and right were within a club length from the fairway.  We had 20 mph winds from the North and high 60's/low 70's temperatures (cool for us and what everyone up North would love to have right about now).  Almost every drive was somewhat shorter than I typically hit.  My 17% greens in regulation was higher than normal due to some nice approach shots.

The difference today was better approach shots, excellent chipping and better putting towards the end of the round.  The six up and downs were a little higher than usual.  If I putted a little better earlier in the round, it would have been higher.  I ended up paring five of the last seven holes.  Each of those par were a result of a solid chip or close approach shot.

The comparison of the shots gained against my handicap peer group tells the story (left is today's round and the other is for the last ten rounds):

                                 Today's Round                                                                    Last 10 Rounds

If you discount the poor driving distance day, the balance of the shots gained is pretty good.  Today showed about 4.5 stokes gained improvement over the last ten rounds with most of that in the approach and short game.   The challenge now is to get back the lost driving distance and maintain the improvement in the approach and short game shots.  We'll have to see what Thursday brings!

Another one of those days 😞

But for a day that started off in the low 50s, it sure did turn out to be a nice, sunny mid-60s day; just wish my game had warmed up like the weather did.  Today was a perfect example of how important the short game is.  Was on fire off the boxes, but I couldn't get the approach game going and carding four 3-putts and a 4-putt just killed me today.  Looking forward to a better round next time.  Have fun y'all

Just back from vacation so a little rusty. The conditions were not optimal. Heavy wind and cold. I admit I enjoy playing in warm weather and post military now hate the cold weather. Hit 12 fairways, 12 greens and had 29 putts. Three bogeys and four birdies. Played the front 1 over and the back 2 under. Birdied the last two holes. In the conditions was very happy with the round. Supposed to play tomorrow, but rain is forecasted. Going hog hunting this weekend. So, hope this round can hold up for low gross….

Haha. Tell me about it!  There is one worse than that!

I have to constantly think "aim small, miss small" and pick where to hit on the green or pick a miss so I can chip to the few good spots on a few holes.

Yes very small! That green reminds me of a course in San Diego. It had a hole with a sand trap in the middle of the green.

The MGA will play move the ball to a clear path at the same distance in their weekly games.

My normal group plays it where it sits and we have learned how hard you have to hit through the sand traps because it slows it down a ton.

I have the membership because it's 3 min from the house and I can play daily.  Oh and it's pretty cheap at about $2300 for the year

We started the round as 5 foursomes, but we were behind a very slow group, and the 3 faster groups reorganized into 2 sixsomes so we didn’t have to wait every shot. Instead we just had to wait occasionally. I moved up a tee so my handicap was a 7 not a 9, but I had already set my handicap in the app.

I played a pretty solid round except for misjudging the wind on 7 blowing over the green and then not focusing and made a double from 122 in the fairway. I also went for 18 in two and hitting into the water. Them dropped 66 yards out and hit the wedge to 1 foot.

Today's round was much better than the last round.  My driver was working well and was keeping it down the fairway most of the day.  I had 1 birdie on the day and had 3 lip outs for birdie.

I have been noticing a trend with my game and need to work on endurance.  As it gets later in the round, I start swinging lazy and give a few strokes away.

The positives are my chipping and putting are doing good and if I can get the driver sorted out more consistently then I think I can accomplish my goal of shooting below 70 this next year.

Birdie of the day from 135yds on the number 2 hdcp.

This week we are off to Club de Seignosse, located in the far southwest corner of France,  The course is a beautiful, tight, tree lined and challenging course.

Actual vs Trackman reiteration

Score is deceiving as I was able to hole out twice from off the green or hit a tree only for it to bounce back into the fairway.  I had to scramble big time, or this could have been ugly.  A beautiful challenging course.

Played at our very own @Jnoble89’s home course via the Rapsodo Courses function of the MLM2Pro. Played from the white tees to keep it around 6000 yards, as the longest club I use in my hitting area is a 3 hybrid.

Overall, very pleased with the effort. When I visit the great state of Wisconsin and @Jnoble89, I will have to play it for comparison sake.

Putting was pretty good on the first half, but it fell of on the back 9.  Got some good swings in, and overall was feeling better, but was cold and not flying as far.  Still took a bit to get warmed up and had many mishits.  Back 9 is an eater of balls if you aren't careful, and I wasn't.  Lost 6 balls in 9 holes.

And that ends our official season.  +7 differential over HI on my last round.

So I’ve been going through a little playing slump right as my handicap had been coming down so my scores were very disheartening. This one is no different but there were some bright spots.

Well, not my best driving day on this course. Hard to overcome 8 penalty strokes through the round. It was a bit windy but that's no excuse for all the penalties. I'll do better next week!!

Beautiful day and first round ever playing my club from the tips. Not a tips guy but it was fun and the new backswing felt GREAT outside of two swings.
