Archery has been a tremendous help in getting fitness back in the right shoulder and some in left. But my left shoulder is at a plateau.

I have been using my swing trainer and it has been okay but not seeing much improvement.

My leg and core strength are both back and good, my doctor said shoulder looks good and it will just be time. At my age I know time slows but would really like my game to be pain free by spring.

I had a labrum repair in my left shoulder in 2003, and an ac joint reconstruction in my right four years ago. The right was also due to a bike crash, going down at 32mph on cobblestones in a race. For both injuries the most useful exercise was rotations (internal and external) with an elastic band. Twice a day, every day, for months. I was 60 when I hurt the right, and it took nearly a  year to swing pain free, and I still lost about half a club in distance. I also worked with an instructor on my swing, and restricting my backswing really limited any soreness after playing. Good luck!

I'm truly sorry to hear about your biking accidents and the resulting shoulder injuries. It's commendable that you're committed to restoring your fitness and golf game. Consider consulting a physical therapist for tailored exercises to break through the plateau in your left shoulder recovery. Incorporate specific shoulder-strengthening routines to expedite healing. Additionally, focus on flexibility exercises to enhance your swing. Remember, a gradual approach is key. With dedication and professional guidance, you'll likely experience significant improvement by spring. Wishing you a swift recovery and a pain-free return to the golf course!
