Consider me one of the members really interested in this one. And should any    F-3 testers decide they can’t complete the review, I have a very close personal relationship with someone that would gladly help out by taking over!

I'd be lying if I said I was expecting anything other than the F-2 in the fitting.  That being said, I'll definitely hit all four models and build whatever gives me the best results.

I’ve been playing golf for more than 30 years now.  Started around age 10 in the backyard trying to be like my older brother and have been playing ever since.  I spent most of 2023 as a 4 handicap with all aspects of my game being fairly equal.  My home course has a lot of penalty areas off the tee, so when I keep the ball in play I tend to stay in the mid 70’s.

You can see from the graphic above putting is actually one of my stronger traits.  But if that’s true, why have I had 12 putters going back to the last real fitting I had in 2011?  In order (to the best of my memory):

Odyssey Dual Force 668, Odyssey Works #1 Wide Versa, Bettinardi Kuchar Model 1 (standard length), 2015 Ping Ketsch Mid, Evnroll ER2, Evnroll ER5

Odyssey Stroke Lab Black 7 S, Odyssey Stroke Lab Black 7, TaylorMade Spider SR, PXG Battle Ready Bat Attack, Evnroll ER5 (black this time), Odyssey White Hot OG Stroke Lab 7

As you can see, I’m a bit of a putter hoe (and have a things for Mallets in the #7 mold).  When I saw the testing opportunity for the Edel Array I thought I finally found the holy grail of tests for my game.  Not only would I be getting a new putter (lucky #13!), but I would have the opportunity to go through one of the most comprehensive fittings to build an extremely customized putter built to my exact specifications.

I plan to test the Edel (model # to be determined) against my current Odyssey White Hot OG #7 indoors on putts up to 10.  Once the weather warms up a bit I’ll take things outdoors for a head to head battle and a look against over 175 rounds of Arccos data.

    

My expectation is that the fitting will build an immediate trust level knowing the Array will be fit to my exact aiming tendencies, path bias, stroke type, etc.  I’m hoping to see immediate improvement on the greens from 10’ and in since I'll conceivably be lining up the putter correctly and have something that fits my exact stroke.

My biggest worry at the moment is how the milled face will feel against the soft White Hot OG insert I spent all last year getting used to.  Long putts could be an issue for a while.

And if everything falls apart and I stay the exact same I'll at least be able to prove that it’s not the putter, it’s the guy holding the club.

Not sure on that yet.  Edel does sell them for $45 through their website, so it's always an option down the road if the putter seems solid but the alignment is off once we take them out on the course.

I just posted my intro. Got fit for the putter last week at Golftec. Fitter let me film the whole thing. I will post some video of the fitting once I’ve had a chance to slim it down, hopefully this weekend.

I am super excited to get my hands on the F-3 after my fitting. Check out the before and after pictures on my alignment. It's hard to see the laser on the wall, so I pointed them out with the arrows.

The 1st picture is with the 3-line alignment plate that was similar to the alignment lines on my gamer.

 

This picture is after the fitting with the T-Bar alignment plate and me choking down the the 34" shaft length that they fit me into. In the past I had been fit into 36" putters, so this will be quite a bit different than putters that I have used over the past 10 years. 

If my aim is really off as much as this test shows, then who knows how much better my putting could be!

As one who participated in the last Edel review, I'm definitely intrigued. I love Edel's fitting philosophy, and if I could get my hands on that whole case of Edel heads/alignment plates/weights/hosels, I would likely happily disappear for years. Without having been fitted for the Array, I would gravitate toward the F-1 headshape.

I'll be especially interested in any observations from any of the testers who might have used any lie angle balanced or toe-up putter in the past. Edel (along with LAB, obviously; Axis1;and a couple of excursions from Odyssey) had been a major proponent of putters that were neither face-balanced nor had toe-hang. My understanding is that the new Array series is not like that. If any of the testers has used a toe-up putter before, I'd be interested in any observations as to how the new Edels compare.

More than once I wanted to ask for them to send me a kit for "photos and educational purposes" haha  It would be fun to play around with all the different combinations and see what each does to aim.

I know that Hayes has at least some experience with LAB putters, not sure if anyone else does, but it would be interesting to see what testers think!

When I did my Edel review, because of our remote location, Edel actually shipped their entire EAS fitting cart to us. The owner of Edel has a cabin in this area of the country, and personally did my fitting, but I had to bring the cart. So I had the entire toolbox in my position, and was very sad when I had to ship it back:

The fitter said the F-1 had slightly better numbers for me, but it was so close that I could go either way. I could easily game any of the 3 mallets, but the F-3 just suits my eye a little better.

I gamed a L.A.B. DF2.1 the 1st half of last season. I no longer have it, so I can't do a direct comparison but I do have some experience with them. I am basically going the opposite way with this putter as the slant neck gave me the best path numbers and also gives the most toe hang.
