Evening everyone from WNY.  I’m accepting the reality that my golf season has ended.  Some minor back troubles, work picking up and the weather turning only means some things are within my control.

I am glad I was able to end my season with some fantastic people.  It’s looking more evident that I’ll be more of a spectator around here for the next few months and ya know what, that’s OK!

It was a great summer, played some great golf and still cannot believe it’s come and gone so fast.

Have I lost 20mph ball speed or is Top Tracer that bad?

Went to a range today with top tracer.  The range balls were all dead, and a lot of them lacking dimples.  I was absolutely crushing them, I even hit a game ball to see if that was the case.  Ball speed didn’t change but the ball hit the net in the back of the range.  
 

This thing was telling me that a smashed drive was going 211 yards.  I know I’m getting older.  But that does not compute to what I am seeing in real life.

Oddly, the one near us seems to be affected by weather changes, because on back to back days with slightly different weather conditions, I’ve seen an average carry of 248 and the next day an average carry of 213. Ball speed was around an average of 153 for both days. Or maybe it’s just unreliable tech

This has me worried actually.  Looking back at data from my fitting I was nearing 170 ball speed.  Clocked a 167 and pretty steady amount of 164/5.

This thing was saying 138-140.  Never once went above 140.  I am fairly certain it is full of

I don’t feel like I’ve lost any speed.  But without real data it is hard to tell I suppose

Just to muddy the waters further, the readings it gives aren’t consistent game to game either. How far a ball goes in warm up varies from how far it will travel in the virtual golf, often with the same ball speed. It’s maddening.

What part of WNY you in, My dad played baseball for the Pirates in the minor leagues in Batavia.

Just read up a bit on hurricane helene that’s expected to hit FL. Sounds like it could be another devastating one! Prayers to all the folks affected down there!

I'm in suburban Rochester.  

Golf up here is really fantastic, especially in the fall. This week we've seen rain and damp since Monday and it's reasonable to assume we'll catch remnants of the current storm in the Gulf.  More time for Buffalo Bills football!

I lived in Batavia and my son was born in Batavia 54+ years ago. I attended RIT, and worked in Rochester for 11 years. The first two homes that I owned were in the Rochester suburbs (Greece and Chili). Prior to buying my first house up there, I rented half of a two-family house on Genesee Park Boulevard near Scottsville Rd in Rochester’s 19th Ward. My next door neighbor there was Terry Diehl, who played on the PGA Tour.

I played baseball when I was living in Rochester (Liga Athletica Tony Alomar), and we had a few guys in that league who had played for the Red Wings, and one (Don Fazio) who was called up by the Orioles a couple of times in the 1970s.

BTW, when my younger brother was going to school at the Eastman School of Music, he worked on the overnight shift on the grounds crew at the golf course at Durand Eastman Park in Rochester.

Good evening spies! Throwback Thursday is turning into thirsty Thursday. Anyway, was very bored working today so, because I was working from home, I decided to weigh some clubs to check my swing weight. Turns out, and fittings told me this, I’m most comfortable in the D weight class and moreover, D3-4. My irons are there, and my Paradym is now there. Yesterday I switched back to an XStiff shaft and hit it very, very well. Long story short, I switched to a stiff shaft about halfway through the 2022 season for no particular reason other than I felt like I was slowing down. Well, I’ve need frustrated with my drive since then so I finally overcame my stubbornness and switched back. My pro was right, and he told me as much.

So I’m finishing off the season in Xstiff driver shafts. You’re right @Derek Eskam! On another note, Zoey’s first hockey game is tonight! Let’s go UW Cowgirls!!!

This game is infuriating.  I know I have a path issue going on.  Couldn’t get any distance out of anything today.  Finally got it sorted, or so I thought, went from 230/240 yard drives back to normal and back to crap again .  Cracked off a nice 315 and a 287 back to back, but followed that up with a 223.  Player with an older gent today.  Smoking his 3 wood 265 easy, effortless and here I was swinging like a long drive guy and not making it by him.  I may need to rethink my approach to the game, and take a frigging lesson or 20.
