How'd you play?

played my usual track today and it did not go as well as I hoped. its was in rainy wet conditions and my ball striking really struggled. the range warmup felt really good but I dropped a couple bad shots early and felt the trend of the day. I could never really get it back on track except on the green which is by far the worst part of my game, so that gave me a little confidence for tomorrow morning at least. really need to slow down the swing and hit some more fairways because the wet rough was not fun to be in and its expected again tomorrow. I hope everyone else ha a better day than me today.

Played Hunstville Downs, par 72. Crazy elevation changes, glad we got a cart. The back nine was definitely better than the front. It was more challenging, better views and its been awhile (if ever) since i've seen actual flowers flanking a par 3 fairway. I shot a 90, 3 penalty strokes, 2 lip out par putts and the worlds slowest 4 some in front of us. We weren't in a rush but guys, come on. I just don't understand the four or five practice swings on each shot? What are we really trying to achieve here? Anyways, maybe I was a little hung over, and grumpy. 🤷‍♂️

I made a day trip to southern DE this week and met up with some friends at Baywood Greens, a beautiful course inland a bit from the Lewes / Rehoboth area.  We had tremendous weather and the pace of play was not bad either.  This is a very well maintained course with some kind of horticulture agreement with a local college so the grounds are very nice.  For my taste it is very pricey at $140 but a once in a while splurge is ok.  I was happy with my play for the day....lots of tap in pars as the birdie putts werent falling, a few bogeys and only one birdie for a 77 on the day.

3 rounds in 4 days at the local 9-hole muni.

Shot 39 (+3) in League on Thursday

40 (+4) yesterday morning (0740 start)

41 (+5) today.

Wish I could cherry pick the best aspects of each round and combine them for one round. Ha ha.

Thursday night off the tee and approach shots were really solid. 7/9 GIR. But putting was very average (19 putts).

Today I scrambled great. only 2/9 GIR, but only 15 putts with four up and downs. Lipped out twice too. Just couldn't hit the green for some reason, even though my swing was feeling pretty good. I hit some lovely greenside chips, which was a positive.

Ah well, that's what keeps bringing us back to the course- the highlights!

I have a traditional Friday night foursome to walk 9 at the end of the work week, and it’s usually a laugh-filled fun round. This Friday could not have been more perfect, it was 72 and breezy and the best. I even played really well for me - driver was on point, not setting any records but a steady 180 and 71% of fairways! I was on a major bogey train and would have left with a 45 but my usual putting arrived on the last 3 holes and I doubled two of them.

I figured we’d have no golf on the weekend while the lads did dad day things but it was too beautiful Saturday to ignore, especially with the heat wave next week. We dashed to our favorite track and, after much laughing at me being late for once because the lads just don’t have to deal with hand to hair combat and sports bras, I proceeded to fall apart. After playing SO well Friday night, and 3 rounds without losing a ball with my driver, everything just went pear shaped. Just one of those days, I guess, but worth it to laugh with the lads. A nothing to see here 98.

Failure is a very important part of success, and I’ll achieve my break 90 goal this year. You win or you learn and boy did I learn a lot yesterday 🤣🤣

Should a would a been a great one. I'm finially getting back in a groove. So many more greens in regulation over the past two weeks. Today I made three birdies and had 7 other birdie putts that had potential. Left so many burning the edge or just short.  You can't walk away disappointed but you can walk away knowing you played well and gave yourself opportunities. Still no rounds in the 60's this season but scared the score card with a 70.

Positive take aways from today:

1) I had to hit a draw on two holes to be able to use driver and to be in the best position.  Success on both. I just learned to draw the ball on command two weeks ago.

2) Making good contact let me hit one club less into the greens. Getting my old distances back.

3) Stroking the Sacks Parente putter well.

Just curious, what are you doing to hit a draw on command? I struggle with that part of my game.

We're you able to figure out the logistics of changing the grip on the SP putter or are you playing it like it came?

Glad to hear you're having success with it!

OH BABY, bogey's, 2 double's on the front nine and somehow strung together 5 pars in a row on the back! Played Royal Stouffville today, really tight fairways. I mean, if you have a 20 yard slice you aren't getting out of there alive.

Played from the back for the first time in awhile, only because of peer pressure. However, while I was dying on the front, I showed up on the back 9. Shot an honest 85 today, 2 penalty strokes and like I said a string of 5 pars which was like magic. Drained a 30ish foot putt for birdie to end it. I literally, uncontrollably, yelled out with more pride than ever before. 85 is a big boy number for me, especially after that front 9 travesty.

For a smaller draw I strengthen my grip (Rotate my hands to see another knuckle). For a larger draw I do the same but also focus on swinging from home plate to first base.

Played my usual course today with friends. I can't understand why I play to the level of those I play with. When I play with better players, I do better. If I play with non serious players, I don't do as well as normal. Always struggling to get better.

I've noticed the same thing recently. It's really tough to get into a rhythm when you're spending time in the woods on every other hole.

Not to mention not getting good reads from putts that are blasted or way offline. It's tough.

Honestly just had one of those days today where nothing was clicking. Putting was great all weekend but struggled to find fairways and green. May need to take a day or 2 away from the clubs and regroup. Let’s hope next weekend was better

Tale of two 9s, putting-wise.  On the front I think I made 3 20+ ft putts in a row.  Every putt I stepped up to felt like it was going to drop.  Despite 20 putts on the back I still putted well on all but a few holes.  The worst part of it all was that 4 putted on the 18th.......   I still can't believe it.  All I needed to do to break 80 was to bogey/3-putt after getting the GIR.  Oh well, there was a lot of good in the round as well.  Eliminate the "others" and it's pretty solid.  Lots to build on!

I played well. Our course has just been restored to Par 71 from 69 due to bunker reconstruction for about a year now. Full par is 72 and will arrive in about 6 weeks. For now it is 71. As I said, I played well on Saturday after a double bogey start. Shot 77 which just happens to be 2 less than my age so added another one to the total. After a long wet season with no run on the course, it has dried out a bit and gives some run. This is something that I need at this stage. So, in all, I am happy with the effort.

Got out early on Father's Day for 18 with my buddy who was enjoying his first Father's Day. Got paired with two others who weren't good as it took us over 4 hours and we only had a short wait on 2-3 tee boxes. At least it was a step in the right direction as I went down to an 87 (44/43) and had no penalties after having 5 last week. The driver is still crap, but I got the irons figured out on the back 9. The greens were in desperate need of water already as nothing was sitting, even wedges were taking big hops towards the back of the green. This left us with a lot of fast, downhill putts, which didn't help anyone. Playing again Wednesday morning, gotta beat the heat.

Had opportunity play Rivermont in for the first time in Atlanta on saturday. Beautiful course, great layout. Only golf, not a country club, which was awesome. Private golf at its finest. Didnt play well and we lost our league match, but redemption as i will play again thursday, most likely from a different tee box this time.

18 with my father in law and brother in law at our local country club. It was HOT. I was sweating my face off. Shot 87 (first time breaking 90!). This was a par 3 at 175 that was INCHES from dunking it! Ended up 2 putting from about 7 feet.

Everything within 90 yards was automatic to the green. My work with my 56 degree has really flourished this past year. Who would have thought hitting greens really does lower scores!

Played with the member forum testing Vice Tour ball. Greens were strangely slow for the club (must have watered in the morning and combination of Vice Tour rolling out a little shorter than other balls).
