Popular Post Dweed
I gave up my "how'd you play" time today to take the grandboys to opening day of the LPGA Dow Invitational in Midland, MI at the Midland Country Club. I played well tee to green, just had no feel or touch with the putter. Left so many short, even from short distances I actually thought it may be time to try a lightheaded putter. It doesn't help that the practice green at a course close to the house where I practice rolls much faster than the greens at the local courses. I am beginning to believe that I need to commit to one putter and spend the time necessary to get better with it. Changing over and over has kept me off balance, yielding a lack of confidence in any of them. For now, and I hope that isn't going to change soon, I have gone back to my old Ping Anser putter. Popular Post rkj427
managed to get out and play a round today, and actually played well tee to green, more so on the back 9 than the front. Had numerous looks at potential birdies but putting let me down. Only had 36 total putts in a score of 80, and only 1 green 3 putted for bogey, but I left so many short within 6" - 18" it was frustrating. Green speed at this course much slower than the practice green I use to practice on, but I should have been able to adjust, just really did not, and that is on me. Hit 11 of 14 fairways, and 2 of 4 greens on the par 3's. Had 11 of 18 GIR, with those missed either a touch too long, or just off the sides of the greens. Here is a cool picture, number 10 green, I am about 12" in 2 on this 400-yard par 4, and 2 putted for par. Naturally, left the first putt about a foot short. sirchunksalot, Rob Person, BallsLeon and 13 others 13 3 Quote Driver & Fairway: Titleist GT2 8 degree - Ventus TR Red & TSR3 15 - Hzrdus Black Gen 4 Hybrid: TSR2 21 degree - Hzrdus Black Gen 4 Irons: Titleist T200 3G (4) & T150 - (5-G) - Modus 105 Wedges: Vokey SM9 54, and 58 Putter: Cameron Phantom X 5 Ball: Pro V1 & Maxfli Tour Link to Motocaddy M7 w/Remote Trolley & Bag Review
Popular Post Chas c
My best friend was in town for work today so we both dropped off early to play some golf! My driver and I are not quite on friendly terms at the moment, but I’m quickly becoming best friends with my pitching wedge. Dropped an absolute bomb on this green, had to break out the shovel to fix the pitch mark! Shot about 100 which is not bad considering I’m still slicing half my drives into the water, but i have time to hit the ramge this weekend and get the kinks worked out. Popular Post edingc
Blow up holes killing me lately. Feels like I'll string together 10-12 pars, a birdie or two that offset a couple bogies and then a terrible double or triple or two. Managed a couple 75s at home this past week with a double each round. All came to a head yesterday playing The Mines in Grand Rapids, which absolutely killed me on four holes. Two triples and two quads ruined the score on an otherwise really solid round for me there. Didn't even lose a ball but got stuck in some tall grass/brush on multiple occasions. Frustrating to say the least. Unfortunately continued on to this morning's 9 where I carded six pars and three doubles. I at least pull hooked the second one of those OB so I deserved that one! buckpillar, Northern Monkey, sirchunksalot and 10 others 13 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 3.6 / Anti-Cap: 9.9 (Last Updated Sept. 1, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Popular Post Northern Monkey
Had a great round this morning and matched my PB The approach and short game was really good and it was a nice steady round. No bad shots as such and no particularly outstanding ones. Popular Post GolfSpy_KFT
As mentioned in my good morning thread post yesterday, played Wild Rock Golf Club in the Dells on Wednesday and had a great time. Driver was pretty good overall but ball striking on approach shots was bad bad. Led to too many lost balls and penalty strokes and ended up shooting a 101, net 82. Some of the lost balls were due to not knowing the course and picking the wrong line or club. I had at least three shots that were executed exactly how I wanted, but just was the wrong decision. The white tees played longer than the tips at my home course, so all in all it wasn't that bad of a round. I also putted respectably well. Highlight of the round came on the short Par 4 17th, where I hit a 298 yard drive and ended up about 12-15 yards off the green. Hit a great chip to 5', then burned the left edge on the birdie attempt . I also was pleased to see that compared to a 13 hdcp, I was +0.4 strokes gained driving, +1.3 strokes gained putting, but then a brutal -9.9 on approach and -4.7 on short game. Again, lots of my penalties came in that range. Was a beautiful day for golf and will be getting back out with the same group there hopefully at least once more if not twice this summer. Popular Post jbern
Played a quick walking 9 holes yesterday. Shot a +6, 41 on the day. My driving was very good yesterday. 7/9 FWs hit. 8/9 playable approach shots. Approach play was horrendous! 1/9 GIR and that was on the only par 5. I could NOT hit a straight iron shot. I was either 20 yds lef tor 20 yds right all day (Unless I chunked the iron shot, those went dead straight) ! Chipping was not great either. 3/8 up-and-downs. I had one chip that hit a leaning pin and would've went in if the pin was out or it was straight up and down. Otherwise, only one chip was left inside 10ft. My putting was good again and helped save my score a bit. 0 three putts, 6 two putts, and 3 one putts for 15 total putts. I was even reading the greens pretty well, just left a few putts short. I did make a nice 12 ft putt and a tricky 7 ft putt. Popular Post PrismFlopper
Just getting to posting this now but played Wednesday morning. Course I had never played before and had no warm up or anything just out of the car onto the tee box and it showed on the first couple holes double, bogey, double, but picked it up to finish birdie birdie on the last two holes. Not gonna lie I thought it was a par 3 when I booked it but it wasn’t. I played off the black tip tees. Very interesting course layout, not super driver friendly. We all got to spend a half hour in the center room of the clubhouse, the storm shelter for the club. What was surprising was how fast the weather changed. The front basically developed right over the town. We were in sun when the sirens went off. A small tornado touched down briefly just east of town--about 5 miles away from the club. Fortunately, no damages and no injuries. I will give a shout out to Youtube TV. What was surprising was how fast the weather changed. The front basically developed right over the town. We were in sun when the sirens went off. A small tornado touched down briefly just east of town--about 5 miles away from the club. Fortunately, no damages and no injuries. I will give a shout out to Youtube TV. When the electricity and internet went down, I was able to pull up the nearest TV station on my phone and track the progress of the storm. Happy to hear everyone is safe and there was no damage. I am beginning to believe that I need to commit to one putter and spend the time necessary to get better with it. Changing over and over has kept me off balance, yielding a lack of confidence in any of them. For now, and I hope that isn't going to change soon, I have gone back to my old Ping Anser putter. Yesterday, I had a 4 putt and a 3 putt...today, I only had 28 putts, along with 8 1 putts. While I was 6 over for the day, my putting seems to be getting better. Stay tuned..... Alii. I might sound like broken clock. Try my cross handed method with face balanced , preferably a wedge shaped face balanced putter. It's midnight now, I'll write u more tomorrow. I love my putter , my putting. No fear. russtopherb
Struggled last night with a 48 over 9 holes. I got stuck in traffic and was late to the course - I had time to hit maybe 6 putts before teeing off. My short game was pretty good, but everything else was just outright bad. I struggled off the tee nearly the entire round. 2 pars, 5 doubles, a triple on the first hole, and the worst of all, a SEVEN on a par 3. We're not going to talk about that one. Here's to better golf ahead! Popular Post ClevelandGirl
For various reasons, my mental health went off the rails for a week or so, including my fave golf buddy declaring he’s never playing again and golf with him was one of the main reasons I moved to Cleveland. As an introvert, it makes getting out and about difficult. After the heat dome, I went to the sim on Wednesday and just could not buy a shot. I was even playing my fave course in Kerteminde Denmark (I will play there in real life one day) on the “not rude” setting (read that as “easy”). I chunked my 4h twice into water only 98 yards and gave it up as a lost job lest I mess up my swing. It was a struggle to get to my usual Friday night end of the week walking 9. A group of us have met Friday night when we can for nearly 3 years. I was in such a mood a nearly canceled, because I couldn’t get my golf buddy out (nor his wife), but I didn’t because my new golf friend is undergoing cancer treatment of a tricky kind and I’m not missing a chance to hang out with him - life is too short. So I dragged myself out. And glad I did. The great company and great weather and most importantly the exercise did me good. Much better mood by the 2nd green, and though the wheels fell off on 8 and 9 (group behind us got the hurry up from the rangers for zero reason, so then I had an audience making me nervous), I at least managed a 48 - a very average score for me, but I was on track to break 45 before the hurry up. Also managed this feat on my nemesis hole, below, outhitting my D with a 3h. Nearly got a GIR too. My average drive keeps going up (ripped a 190 and 185 this round) so I’m going to have to put it away on this hole soon! In other amazing news, 71% FIR with my driver!
