Rusty1885
Just came back from the 4th of July event at the club. We played the 4some battle golf not including putter. I usually carry 12 clubs so I stocked up for the round with 3 drivers but ended up losing only 1, a decoy, my brother xr16 I figure that would be the first they took. I was right. We won 4 up, the opponent's partner fell apart when we took the driver and 3 wood. We both targeted him:), we were only 2 up when we got to take the first Sw and once we got both we knew we won. Funny they gave me the idea when they took my Sw. Even though, I haven't been in the bunker up to that point and they were in the bunker almost every holes. I like it. I usually hate trash talking but it turned out I was pretty good at it:) Rickp, MaxEntropy and MattF
Philly Golf Guy
95 yesterday at my course. It was a weird day and was still playing with this utility club on a lot of shots, for better or worse. On one par 5, I shot the pin for my third shot at 120, under clubbed so I'd be below the hole, and airmailed the green. It was a well hit shot, so not sure if my range finder was off or my distances are that far off. Anyways, a birdie or par turned into a double. On another hole, 50 yards away for my second, a bad pitch leads to another double. Then, the tides turned and while I had some bad shots, was scrambling all over the place. A 15 foot putt to save par, a could up and downs from a bunker, then on the Eighteenth, ended up well below the hole with a tree in way, but somehow got the ball to 5 feet from the pin for bogey. I was also trying to get the club all the way back and parallel with the target line, which was working pretty well. I had been feeling a little lost at the top of my backswing, so tried that to help get things a little uniform. So generally, I could have scored a lot better but also some pretty good recovery shots out there and all in all was experimenting with a few things so am not all that upset. It was also my maiden round with my new M2 driver, which went very well. I'll post my thoughts in that thread. Rusty1885
Just played a round with the most interesting mid/high handicapper. He's looking to join our club and I was going out so the pro shop asked me if he can tag along. I said sure. He's in his late 40's hits most of his shots short low but straight. His drive is just under 200 and most of his approach shots were pretty low. He just play his one shot from tee to green. It was fascinating. He kept the pace, and always in a good mood and kept up with the conversation. He didn't try any funky shots just play the same shots from 1-18. May be because his ball flight were so low I have a hard time differentiating the high shot to the low ones. I didn't keep his score but I thing he shot around 86-88 great for first timer, but I have the feeling he'd probably shoots this in every courses. I hope he joins our club, I want to play more golf with him. MattF and Rickp

Jmikecpa
Played the first round of our two day 4th of July Tournament. Day one was a scramble of partners with h some type of handicap percentage. I played off a 1 and my partner was a 6 and somehow we got one shot. Darned if I could figure out the math and I am a CPA. We ham and egged it around for a 66 net 65 which leaves us in solo second heading into tomorrow. Bad news is we are 5 behind a team that also shot gross 66 for net 60. Tomorrow is best ball with 75% cap so I will be playing straight up. Drove the ball better than I have been lately and actually had a short game. Decided to swap out my MD3 58* for the PM grind with good results. Only downside was a rock out of a fairway bunker putting a gouge in the face of my 52*. Jmikecpa
Chucked up a terrible 78 today thanks to two bad swings that let to double. Blew one OB right off the tee on 17 and fanned a 6 iron into 8 that led to a double. Other than that played pretty well and fortunately my partner and I did not blow up on the same holes and were leading low gross by two shots when I left for the beach club. Kenny B
41/42 for 83. One of my better scores lately, as I have been playing like an jackass for more than a month. Just a lot of bogeys. revkev
First round since a lesson three weeks ago. Predictably the first several holes were brutal. I didn't have a clue! But then I slowed down a bit, focused on the actual shot instead of the result and hit the ball much better. I even knocked off the short game rust 43-38, 81 I actually hit some good solid shots, got my trajectory and thus distance back with the driver. Undershooter
Played at my old club for the first time in while this passed Sunday and Tuesday. I brought my A game Sunday to the men's group game and ended up shooting 67 from the 1 up box. Could've been a little bit lower but caught a bad break and had a few lip outs. Tuesday morning was a few groups playing team games, skins and low score from the tips. I ended up shooting the second lowest of morning with 72 and still lost 50 bucks because of no skins and my team playing awful. That and I couldn't hole anything outside 6 feet. Some of us went back out in the afternoon and played with the club pros. There were so many bets flying around I could hardly keep up. I was late to the action and still ended up with 3 of them. I couldn't putt for crap this go around. I shot 40 on the front thanks to a triple on 9. I think I was running out of gas more than anything. Got a red bull, gatorade, crackers and some beer at the turn and that seemed to do the trick. Still didn't make many putts but ended up shooting 34 for a total 74. I had 6 friggin horshoe lip outs this 18. 6... Wipe away that and my triple and I could've gone real low. Only ended up losing a total of $3 somehow after my 3 bets were squared up. Beat one of the pros too. But boy am I glad I didn't have any bets with the other pro. He carded a smooth 63. Johnnyrogs
played one of my best rounds of the year and still had a monster number on one of the holes (par 5 where 2 tee shots went wayward) and still almost broke 80s(have not done this yet). Started off par par double +5. Switched to a claw type grip on the putter and my speed on putts has never been better. It was only 1 day on greens in great shape but so far i'm a fan. Will be giving it another go tonight on greens that are not as nice and definitely slower.
