Well, I started out Par, Par, Par.....def my best start of the year.....I finished with a 44/44, 88

Had some hiccups along the way two of the Par 3's saw me go to the water. On a dogleg Par 4, I skipped over the first pond, then skipped over the second pond and ended with a bogey.

Weather was terrific.....high 60's to mid 70's.

Did it get windy or did you finish before that front came in? I went to practice putting and chipping on my way in to church and it really changed during that half hour.

83 with 41 putts.... Yeah, playing twice in 3.5 months isn't good for the touch.... Struck the ball extremely well. Only bright spot was eagling the par 5 9th with a perfectly placed drive and a hybrid to 4 feet and making the putt. I 3 putted 6 times from 7 feet or less (and 8 times total, the other two being par putts on the first attempt), all being birdie attempts on the first putt. Just couldn't judge the speed at all, everything was blown through the break and by the hole. I think I'm gonna put the Mannkrafted away for a while to let it think about what it's doing wrong (haha).

We finished about 12:30 and the wind was not a factor yesterday....

Today I played at 1:00 and finished with a 47/47,94

However, I decided to play my Powerbilt driver all day and simply boomed it, getting 220 to 245. My wedge play was suspect at best and my mid irons were off.

Played yesterday morning and my goal was to shoot lower than the temperature for each nine. Beat it in the front with a 35 in 36 degree weather and matched the temp in the back with a 38. Found a fun new game for winter golf.

My wife and I went to the course this morning; 51 and it started to rain on #2 so we quit. Hey! We live in the desert. We don't have to play in the rain! Went back out at 1pm; 68 and sunshine. See. However, the wind kicked up to 20-30 mph on the back nine, but that's not unusual. Better wind than rain.

I think this is the last warm day for awhile. Supposed to be in the 20's and 30's this week. Will be a different game next weekend!

The sun was out today and it warmed up to 35 from a low last night of 12. My wife and I went to the course and walked 9 holes (warmer than riding in an open cart). This is her last weekend before knee replacement next Wed, so we will probably play tomorrow too.

This is my second day playing in the cold this year so far. Played an optic yellow Bridgestone Lady Precept and it works quite well at this temperature. I'm getting the hang of landing short of the green and letting it bounce on. From now on that will be the name of the game. I did manage to make a couple of birdie putts. Still loving the SCORs.

Foz and I need to get together and play soon. Perhaps during the inter regnum between Christmas and New Years - I'm off for 10 days.

I answered every the trend question yesterday although at firs it didn't seem like it. 4 over, scrappy front nine which was very disappointing because I warmed up well, hit it great, but wind really bothered me. Totally kicked in on the back, 39-33 72. I had 4 birdies and 2 other looks inside of 10 feet. The wind was still there, I just didn't let it play with my head like I did on the front and I drove it very well, long and straight, for me added to the long part.

Nice round! Looks like you got over whatever it was last week. Keep it going.

My wife is getting out of the hospital today after knee replacement so I won't be playing for awhile, just care giving. She said that next spring she is going to kick my ass... I hope she means on the golf course!

Sounds like a great idea, Rev.....I am off from Dec 15th thru the 31st. . Rev, your game has come around...72 is awesome!

How can I shoot a 47/50, 97 on Saturday then a 38/45, 83 on Sunday at the same course?

I played the MasterGrip C4 Tour on Saturday then the Kick X Tour on Sunday. It's like it was two totally different people.....

Played for the first time in 2 weeks. Was not planning on playing at all but my friend called. It was about 60* and windy as heck. The greens were treacherous to put it mildly and some extremely tough pin placements. My game depends strictly on timing and feel non of which I had all day until the 16 th hole. I actually 3 putted 3 greens on the front side which is terrible for me absolutely no feel for speed at all. Hit the driver good all day though. Could not hit a green with anything. Somehow I gutted it around for a 80. The bright spot I did play the last 3 holes @ -1. My partner shot 74 we ended up 1 down on the four man 2 ball score bet won 1 match 2 man best ball by one and won 1 other 2 man best ball match by 2. Started getting the feel and timing back around 16. All in all not my best but I had a great partner

Right now because of winter, we are playing on HD golf simulators. They are very cool. We've started a league and my bro and I won our first match (even though the other team had better handicaps than us). We play every Wednesday and go practice every Sunday and yesterday, for me, was nuts how far I was hitting my golf clubs. I was hitting 190-195 with my 6 iron (usually 180-185), 235-240 with my 19 degree hybrid (touredge) (usually 200-215), 270-290 (250-260) with my driver (touredge), 180 with my 7 iron (usually 165-170) (and I use 710 model ap2's - no jacked up lofts) Could not believe it. My swing was just dialed in. 110-115 with my Mizuno MP-R12 sand wedge (usually 100-105). We were playing Bethpage Black and we needed to carry 250 over some bunkers and I actually carried it 270 into the rough and it sat at 278 lol. I am loving Touredge right now. I was reaching par 5's in 2. I actually had a 232 yard shot to the green on a par 5 and instead of taking out my 3 wood, I used my hybrid and hit it over the green at 241 yards!! lol My brother was shocked.

The only place we both struggled was chipping. Those machines have a hard time picking up chips and stuff like that. I didn't shoot particularly well because I had to do 2-3 chips where I am used to doing 1 and putting. The ball would just roll off the green. Other than that, lots of fun. The guy who owns the simulators will be getting my all time favorite course the old course in St Andrews soon so I cannot wait to play it.

LOL that's the plan. The driver I was happy with. My goal is to consistently carry my driver 260. I did it a couple of times (once at 270) but was shocked at my hybrid. I mean, I never used my 3 wood at all! The sound at impact was loud and it sounded very flush. I love my Tour Edge clubs. I have to give props to this site because I never would have given them a chance. The AP2's is somewhat of a mystery. I was swinging at them pretty hard but was making sure that I finished well balanced - that was it. Hey, it wasn't perfect. I did hit a lot of fat shots too. It is a work in progress but I'm hoping I can bring all of this to the real course.

Took the day off to play at Babe Zaharias GC with the Tuesday Game.....hoping to get a round in with the rain....Not only did we have to cancel the game, but the guy who runs the Tuesday Game passed away last night. Rainey has been a great friend for the past 12 years....and he will surely be missed. Not only did he keep the books for the Tuesday game, but he was one of our officers for the Pebble Creek Golf Ass'n and instrumental in putting together the formula we use to keep track of our Points each week. Rainey Milligan was 78 yrs old. This past summer he shot his age. Last week he won the Tuesday Game as well as the Saturday Game. He was a good golfer, a vet (USN) & a Professional Engineer.

I'll miss you Rainey!

I lost a good friend at the course about 4 years ago. We were the same age and had about the same HCP. Games were fun, even though he always tried to mess with my mind. I miss him too.

Thanks Kenny, we had Rainey and another, Joe, that ran the game every week. I told Joe that I would get the files and take care of the numbers until they had someone who could be there every Tuesday.  I am scheduled to play there each Tuesday during December so it's no big deal to keep it going.   After that if one of the guys can help Joe out, I can get the weekly results faxed to me and keep it up.

That will mean I keep up with two games a week.....no prob.

Rainey took over the game about 4 years ago and I helped him set it up.  In that time it has grown from about 12 players per week to about 24, so we know we're doing something right and want to keep it up.

A hybrid is something else. I have not had success with them much in the past. One of the guys that was playing on our team the other day had one that he was hitting off the tee and was flat spanking. I believe it was a Cally but he was hitting it about 270 or so. Now he was a young guy and was playing from the blues and the rest of us on the team from the golds. I say I do hit a driver pretty good for my age and from the senior tees I could barely get it past him with the 50 yd difference of the tees.

My regrets go out to you and his family and other friends. By what you were saying though he did go out with a bang on his last competitions

Thanks Stu,  Rainey's game was def in the win column lately.  He was recording the results with me last Saturday.  When he realized that he had won, he looked like a kid in a candy store.  Please be safe, and if you are having issues with acid reflux, be sure to consult your doctor, as it may be heart issues as well.

Well, I haven't played in over a week. My wife had knee replacement surgery last week, and I haven't been out. It was supposed to be nearly 60 today, but the fog never lifted and it only got up to 43. I ran some errands, and managed to get a quick nine holes in along the way. :)

For not playing for a week, I did OK. Used the yellow Bridgestone Lady Precept ball in the fog. I only had 12 putts; 2 birds and 1 bogey. The birds were about 12-15 foot putts. Nice up and downs with the SCORs. Everyone likes a good up and down!

My annual Black Friday Game was held today at Quail Hollow GC. We had two foursomes in 50* for a $5 Nassau.....well the weather warmed slightly and my game warmed up as well. I shot a 47/41, 88 with two Birdies, a par 5 and a par 4.

All had a great time as we discussed the day's game over wings and beer at the local Wing House.

Shot my best round in months yesterday.  86 with double bogies on 3 par fives, each caused by errant hybrid/5 woods going for the green in two (meaning I had hit really good drives).  Spider Si putter was at its best today--seven one putts from over 5 ft and only one misread 3 putt.  Encouraged about the ball striking.

Nonchalant putts count the same as chalant putts.

In my Ogio Ozone XX Cart Stand Bag:

TM Rocketballz Stage 2 21 Deg Tour 4 Hybrid, Rocketfuel 80h Stiff shaft

Callaway Apex CF 16 Irons, 4-P, Stiff Shafts

Scor 48 and 55 degree wedges.

Glad to hear it and glad to hear your back is letting you play.  Foz sorry to hear about your friend.  Is there any chance that the two of you gents could meet myself and a friend at World Woods the day after Christmas?  We could do Pine Barrens for $49.

So I had the win of a lifetime yesterday.  I was playing with the member from my church who played in several US amatures - I mean made the field not just tried to qualify.

I shot 36 on the front leaving me 1 behind his 35.  He went 2 up on me when I bogeyed 13.  The wind was picking up, it was getting colder and the ball was going nowhere.  We both made par on 14 but his was disappointing - he only had 190 in on the par 5, a gust of wind caused his shot to be short of the green and he took three to get down.  I shoved my drive on 15 and thought I was in the water on the corner - barely carried it and was right next to him in the fairway 149 from the pin with a left to right wind.  (he hit 3 wood off the tee)  I hit a perfect 7 iron 20 feet right of the pin - the wind grabbed his 8 and he was in the green side bunker.  It wasn't a hard shot really, plenty of green to work with, not very high lip, but and this is key - he was 4 beers into the round and I only 2.  He skulled his shot, over the green and OB, chunked his next one barely onto the green and 2 putted for a 7.

By now the wind was howling and it was gettin dark - I had to hit 5 from 161 but was hole high 10 feet left - the wind grabed his 7 iron and knocked it down in the trap - bogey, par.

He parred the last two holes and I went par, bogey on 18 in the dark (chunked a wedge).  75-77 - I beat him!!!!!!!  That won't happen again in the near future but it was great even if it was attributable in part to the beer.

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD
