Getting a new job outside of the golf industry has definitely hurt my golf game. I'm not playing nearly as much. I did get out this weekend and shot 42/41. That's about all I can expect now that I don't practice and only get out once a week if I'm lucky. Here's to a higher handicap

Strokes gained compared to what? Someone at your handicap level? I'm curious how this works for non your players.

It does it to pros. The creator has promised an app for pretty much two years that was supposed to track it to different handicap levels. For instance how well you hit compared to a 10/20/30 handicap. The other golf forum site was working on doing it using huge amounts of pure data, but the worksheets don't work on macs.

Played 18 after a week away from the course for a friends wedding in Memphis. Spent the majority of the weekend drinking with friends and barely staying hydrated in humidity. After getting back, I managed to sleep a ton gaining back a bit of lost sleep. It did me no good though, I slogged through a 93. Driver was a bit off, irons were yet again off and every putt that hit the edge stayed out including two or three 5 footers. Wedge game def took a hit with the big break but I started getting better on the back until I hit a slice OB on 18 and took a triple.

Big thing was the week off. I like playing twice a week on Saturday and Sunday and if I don't my game takes a hit. If only I didn't work night shift and struggle to sleep at night, I'd play once during the middle of the week and actually get my handicap down.

Played Sunday.  Had a very nice round. Did not hit many greens (8) but scored nicely with a 69 (-3).  Had the putter working.  It was a great final weekend of summer.

I visited my parents over the long Labor Day weekend (about a 300 mile trip each way), but I got to watch a little golf on TV.  We left early yesterday and beat the holiday rush traffic through Portland, so we got home early enough to play 18.  Why is it that when I get out of car after a trip, it's like I have to learn the game all over again??  I have learned not to expect much, and I have yet to be disappointed!  I shot a blistering 87; no birdies, no doubles, no others, just a bunch of mishits and a LOT of bogeys.

Only got up to 83* today and 49* last night.  I think it's getting close to the fall season.  My wife and I played after she got off work today.  Teed off at 5:25pm and the sun was just starting to dip into the horizon when we finished playing 9 holes.  I managed to shoot +2 which is really good for me on our front nine.  No birdies, but had some chances. The highlight for me was on the par 4 #3; the #1 hcp hole on the course.  It is only 350 yards, but has water all down the left side of the fairway and it comes in front of the green.  All down the right side of the fairway are grass mounds up to 12 feet high. I drove the ball straight down the fairway and had a second shot of 80 yards to the middle of the green.  That's a drive of 270 yards!!  For those that know me, that's long!  Really long!!!  OK, so I had a 15 mph tailwind.  It's still a driver and 58* SCOR wedge shot.  Yeah, I missed the putt.   :P

Very weird 83/77. Tough day off the plates with wind and back pins on most holes. Finished with a triple and finished 9th after qualifying for club champs, top 8 going through to matchplay. Would have been worse if I hadn't lipped out, that would have meant missing on count back. Only hit 4 GIR, made some long putts but had a couple of soft 3 putts.

I played in my company's season ending league tournament today.  I retired a year ago and haven't played in their league for several years.  My old boss called me last week and asked if I could play.  I think they were desperate.  Play was at my club so I had no green fees or cart fee to pay, so I said "Why not?"  It was sort of gimmicky; the front nine was a scramble and the person whose drive was selected couldn't play the next shot (putting excluded), whereas the back nine was best two net balls of the team.  That was OK, but on #2 everyone had to tee off with the PSP "Little One" training club and it was KP in two shots.  https://golfpsp.selz.com

Ever hit one of those clubs?  I never will again; we all hooked it into the #1 fairway!! But being a scramble, one of the guys hit the second shot to 18 inches to win the KP.

LD was on #3.  I was a little short of the marker... about 40 yards, but I was the only one of my team in play.  On #7 we all had to putt with a hockey stick.  Ever done that?

a.  It's a hockey stick

b.  It's long with a flat lie angle

c.  The head is light, flimsy and curved.

It cost us a birdie!!

I played OK, but not my best, but we still managed to take 1st loser.  Fun was had by all, and a BBQ lunch after.

If it was a lefty I would be ok. I played hockey for years and putted with it a few times. Hopefully it wasn't a Paul Coffey curve, that thing is a banana.

My round today was dreadful. Shot around 95 or so and lost a half dozen golf balls. My driving which had been great as of late suddenly stunk. I hit every type of garbage drive other than a slice: a few pop ups, massive hook and a low shot that got  eaten up by high fairway grass. My irons were complete garbage all day other than the last few holes where I moved the ball back a solid 6 inches and started to crush the ball. I moved the ball up 6 months ago playing high shots, but somehow now I developed a pull hook that always is left of the green. My putting was weak, but to be fair I didn't give myself any good looks. Bah.

Yesterday we had 49 players, with that large a group I of course played somewhat lousy, shooting 41/43=84 with one birdie. My prob of the day was I could not keep my drive in the fairway. That caused me to scramble all day....ugh!

They had both for the training club, but only a righty for the hockey stick.  It was NOT like a Happy Gilmore; looked like a banana and very flexible.

Played on Saturday just gone.  It's early spring here in Oz & my course is still bit spongey on the majority of f'ways.

Stableford on the w'end, and had 19 points on the front, 17 on the back. 36 points = played to my handicap.  (91 in total).

Topped my 3 Hy 3 times,  a few fat shots with irons and an early shank which was playing on the mind.

Best part of the day was having 3 chip ins (all on the back 9 & including 2 holes in a row). Putting was pretty good considering the greens were cored & sanded a week ago.  Shows that the hard work on the short game is starting to pay off.

Our course closed at 3pm today for aerification.  Won't be able to play until Wed, so my wife and I went out early today to play before they closed.  I had a brain f@rt on the first hole and made a double; not a good start.  I managed to get another double on #5, but bounced back with a birdie on #6.  Had three bogeys on the back nine for +6 or 78.  I made a bunch of up 'n downs for par.  "Everyone likes a good up 'n down."

Sadly, no golf until Wednesday.  What to do?  What to do?  Oh yeah, practice... but my club is closed!!

My club punched the greens and fairways on Sun-Tue. The guys wanted to play today, so I agreed. Didn't expect much. 50* at tee off and 77 when we finished. We played preferred lies in the fairways and 2-putt greens. Shot +4 on the front and even on the back for a 76. I think I made over 100 feet of putts on bumpy greens. Lipped out a birdie on 18; if it had gone in, I would have made 140 feet of putts!!

Edit: just noticed that I shot under the temperature!

It's definitely getting cooler at night.  Temps in the 80's today and tomorrow, but in the 70's on Sat for the next week.  Overnight lows in the 40's, so playing at 8am is quite chilly with lots of moisture on the grass.  It's absolutely perfect weather at 10am!!

Got out yesterday and played in a charity event at a club near the office.  The club we played is one that my club has a reciprocal with and have played several times over the last year or so.  I will say that we played well and finished a respectable -12 for the round and were in second place when we turned in the card.  For the first time ever in my life I actually witnessed a group in a scramble get disqulaified.  The team that posted -14 was made of of two guys that play once a year and two guys that had never played golf before and completely manufactured a score that tey thought would win.  When we came in with -12 the pro did a little investigation work (without our prompting I might add) since he knows that I can play a bit and turns out he was right.  In the end it was a fun day out with a few beers (and well qualified beer girls) that beat being in the office all day.

81... I was testing balls vs each other for distance comparison, so I hit two drives off of most tees. Lost a little focus as a result, but I hit some of the longest drives of the year.

Shot an 84 on an executive course, just kept finding bad luck. I was able to battle back! Drilled one into tree trunk, and lost yardage. Was hitting 3 from 190 out and still saved bogey! So my score wasn't great but the fact that I overcame obstacles has me very proud of my effort

I was sitting on a 34 going into the eighth hole when we got rained out. :(

Driver is struggling but I managed to get a penalty off one tee using my 3 wood...240 yards into a creek. Theoo of course was over with his driver, but 240+ 3 wood, that things a beast!
