How'd you play?

I got to play the Pete Dye Course at French Lick yesterday. What a track. You have to be very precise with all off your shots. I played the course at 7200 and that was probably more that I can chew at 40* with 20 mph wind. I struggled all day and shot an 87 but wow. Talk about an amazing place. When we go back I know now what to do and I'm sure it will be even more fun in better conditions.

It doesn't hurt to play a few rounds with them to see if the need for adjustment is there. It's one of those things where you just know. I've been playing a long time and I know my typical ball flight. When the lie angle is off it's something you just know, and it doesn't cost much to have them bent

Yep.. Different manufacturers can also have differences in their standard lie as well. I did check the impact tape and it was dead on center. Agree though, I'll get a few rounds before making a final determination on the lie.

Played a little 9 hole scramble last night.  I got on the range before we started and quickly wanted to turn back around and go back home. I couldn't make solid contact with any club.  I finally gave up on the range and just went and played and it was completely different on the course.  I hit every club solid just about.  We still didn't win, but I left feeling a lot better about my game than I did when I got off the range.

83 yesterday with 2 doubles and one OB off the tee. Pretty consistent across the board no huge struggles in any one area other then playing with new glasses which actually caused the doubles by topping the ball. I never top the ball...New hourd before I played.

Mizuno MP18 lineup is 1/2 degree flatter than The Callaway XR Pro Model I was playing, so even going 2 up I am still 1/2 degree flatter than my previous irons

Crazy game. I've had days like that and also the reverse. Hitting every shot pure on the range, killing the driver and knocking down flags then get on the course and it's double bogey city, lol.

On Saturday, we got 3 inches of snow.  Yesterday we played golf.  On number 5, I pulled my second shot left of the green, pin high, right into a patch of snow.  The ball sat up nicely and i could have played it.   Nope.  Treated the snow as GUR and played on.  Some lines are just not to be crossed, and hitting out of snow is one of them for me.  

 

The course hosted a boys high school match a couple of hours later.   Not sure how they treated the areas of snow still on the course.

Wednesday morning 52* @ tee time but warmed up nicely with light winds. Shot 41-41=82. Two doubles killed me but 3 Sandy's & 1 bird helped.

Sun is out finally. .or mostly ouf. Shot my all time low of 76. One penalty on first hole but pretty clear sailing the rest of the way. Driver never got me in trouble. If I could putt Id easily shot par. Missed several birdies inside of 12 feet. ..one 3putt I believe.

Oh, and the change I made gained me a few extra yards.

You must of sent it all to Georgia because we had gusts up to 35 + in our neck of the woods!  I shot 95 today...      With that said I hit some freaking BOMBS with my new Ping G400 MAX!!!  Lord have mercy I can see right now this thing is going to be perfect for me.   I love love love the ball flight and distance I'm getting out of it.  My problem today was my play out of sand traps was flat out awful!  I mean AWFUL and my putting wasn't any better.  I put Betty's arse on time out because she was rolling the ball like a drunk sailor.  I can't blame myself right?    I had one seriously good hole where I nearly aced it.  I hit a beautiful draw on a 165 yard par 3 that rolled up, tapped the flag and hung on the edge.  Why that gawd awful wind did not blow that ball in is a mystery.  One of my pals knocked it up to three feet and he was having a hissy because my ball beat his out..

Had a great 9 on a cold but wind free day.Made some great pars and even had a few good looks at birdie.For some reason my chipping and putting have always been my strong points in my game.And today was no exception.Hoping one day I can get my full swing game on par with my short game.The full swing can turn out well.Or a complete mess on the course

Got 9 in after work, was finally able to get the new driver shaft out for the first time. Aldila X-Torsion 60TX Green Mamba.

This shaft just gets it out there.

Finally got a nice day here in northwest Ohio. That's the good news. The bad news was there is a lot of rust (re: operator error) to deal with. 1 OB plus 2 water balls lead to a 45/48 today. Was hoping to finally break 90.

Getting some sun finally and course is drying. Played 18 tonight. +2 front but struggled on the back and staggered in with an 83. Hit 68 percent of fairways and 75 percent Wednesday. Flattened my driver swing and it has greatly improved my game. Instead of snapping a tee on most every box, I think I used two today and about the same yesterday. Havent lost a ball right but will pull one a bit but not enough to really find trouble. Pretty exciting actually especially with the groubd drying out I will probably be longer then ever before at 50 years old.

I marked this day on my calendar... first day this year that I wore shorts!!  Well, except for the two weeks in Palm Springs.  It was 75* sunny with a slight breeze.  My wife and I played nine holes after she got off work.  I had one birdie, one bogey, and one double for a +2 score of 39.  Oh wait... I had another double after I got home.

Beautiful day today, terrible golf though. Had only 4 pars and 1 birdie to go with 9 bogies and 4 others "shudder". The one birdie was on a par 3 and gets me $10 so that eased the pain.

That's about mine too, and it's been over 60 several times this spring.  The problem is that 60* has been accompanied by 20-30 mph winds... like today.

43 + 43 = 86   I was hitting some BOMBS with my new G400 Max today!  I hit a couple so far that I had some tweener approach shots which are not my favorite.

lol yea right...     I think I better start practicing those little half wedge shots.  I'm really shocked at how well the stock shaft is responding.  I'm pumped to say the least and my custom shaft will arrive Tuesday.   It might have to sit on the bench for a bit.

Actually got to play 18 today at my club. Started on the back and some good and some not so good. Shot 7 over 41 on the back to limp to the first tee. Shot 1 under on the front with the first eagle of the season to shoot 77. Will take t for the first round on a windy day.

 

Did get to see something for the first time. My partner chunked a wedge into the water off the tee on the par 3 10th then promptly holed out his second for a routine three.
