GeekingGolf
Played in a scramble today as a guest of a friend who's company was a Gold Sponsor. She and the other two players are all 25 or higher indexes. Which means my 17 HC made me the A Player 🤠I was hoping we'd break 80 and not finish last. Well expectations exceeded. IMG_2259.JPG What a shock we shot a natural 67 and finished 2nd place Net. I was overall pleased with how I played. I kept us in play off the tee on every hole which gave the young guy in the group a chance to swing away. He could get it out there about 250 to 260 but only 1 out of 5 would be in play. Each of the other two made a couple decent length birdie putts early on. And I caught over the last 12 holes with the putter dropping 6 or 7 putts from outside 15 feet. A couple were for big par saves and the others for birdie. All in all a fun day for a good cause on the nicest weather day we've had so far this year. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy Awesome!! GolfJunkie302
Played a 36-hole tourney yesterday. I was +7 through the first 6 holes and +1 on the last 12. Shot 79, with the cut line for the second round being 80. Had a rough second round (84). I just couldn't make a putt for my life. Missed probably 12 or 13 putts under 8 feet. For some reason, I just couldn't hold the greens. They were pretty firm. They changed tees/pins and rolled the greens between rounds, so that kind of threw me off. Overall, I was just happy to make the cut! 00sportsman
Rough day today. Played a very tight course, and it was pretty much a roller coaster. Good was good, bad was awful. Hit the G400 Max pretty well, never been better out of the sand, and drained a putt about 75 feet to birdie a par 3. But...waaayyy too many penalties, and I was in the sand too much. I still want to go play some more, though. Sent from my XT1585 using MyGolfSpy mobile app MattF, Rickp, cksurfdude and 1 other 4 Quote I always try to remember that I'm not good enough to get mad! GolfSpy_APH
Played one of my more regular courses with my father in law today... The windiest day I've ever played on! Had fun and although didn't go low on the scorecard but definitely was a new experience. Was really happy with wedge play and irons, but am still wildly inconsistent off the tee and slowly starting to get a better feel for the new putter which was just put in the bag. kardboard.kid
So the first round of golf is in the books, also the first round walking. My son and I both decided to make the front nine practice and only count the back. Got stuck behind two really slow groups so it was hard to get any focus. Jump by them on the turn and had a blast. I shot a 49 but I left many shots because of bad wedge game. Note to self, practice wedges. PING Apologist #9
Played a little 9-hole track called Indian Lakes over in Boise today. It's interesting in that this first go-round you play the whites and then the "back-9" are played from the blues. Anyhow, went out on my own and mostly played as a single on the front and totally on the back. Hit many decent shots but my putting really was off-had four 3-putts and missed several ones from less than 5'.. Carded 110 with way too many 6's but no snowmen which was a plus. Best hole of the day was the par-3 "12th" playing at 190. Roped a nice-n-straight 5w straight at it and got to within 6' or so. Love those but wish I made the darned putt... Ah well, back at it again tomorrow with my scramble gang. I'll check in with y'all tomorrow-Cheers all!!! fozcycle, MattF, cksurfdude and 3 others 6 Quote In my DLX Cart Bag: Driver: G410 SFT, set to 9.5*, Mitsubishi Tensei CK Orange 60, stiff (MGS Official 2019 Tester) 3W: G-Series SF TEC, set to 16*, Aldila Tour Blue ATX, 65g, stiff 5W: G400 SFT, set to 19*, Aldila Tour Blue ATX, 65g, stiff 7W: G410 SFT, set to 22*. chisag
... Strange but awesome day playing with my son and his best friend. Very windy on a links style course. Just could not read the greens with a ton of Poa but the were rolling well and they didn't break when I thought they would and broke when I thought they wouldn't. Started off with a birdie then made 16 straight pars, some saves and some missed birdies, and bookended with a bogie after the biggest drive of the day left me with a pw from 130. Hard wind left to right and just pushed it a hair (realizing after it left the club I was guiding it a little... sigh) and the wind pushed it into the water. Dumb. Dropped and almost chipped in as it caught the lip but rolled 2" by. Could been much better, yea, sure, Ok, whatever. Kor.A.Door
Played our first interclub Match today. In the road, and winning in the road in these things is very difficult to do. We did not win, for beat pretty good. I played really well, shot 74. So I should be really happy, and I am, but I left some really poor shots on the course, 4 short missed putts, and a really really poor chip. All in All it was a good match, my partner struggled and did t play well, but we had a chance on 18, I missed a 8 footer for birdie that would have tied the match, by the green was horrible, it was 1 of their greens that had gotten winter burn on it and was in bad shape, almost impossible to make a putt from any distance. I didn't putt poorly, but I missed some very makeable putts. So need to work on the putting some more. kardboard.kid, MattF, PING Apologist #9 and 4 others 7 Quote Lefties are always in their Right Mind

Popular Post Peanut05
Well, the tournament is over, and while I played well for the most part, it wasn't quite well enough. On the first day, I shot a 37 on the front nine, but staggered a little coming in and ended with a 77, which was still the leader in my flight. So all I had to do was hang on. Second day, I opened with an even par 36. I think I started counting my chickens before they hatched, because on the next two holes, I went bogey, triple bogey. I recovered a little, only to drop another double bogey on hole 15. Had a 4 foot putt that I lipped out on 18 that would have put me in a 3-way tie for 2nd, but I ended up in 4th place. That's the best I've done in that tournament in a while, but hopefully next year, I can get in the money. MattF
Were you trying to hit the clubhouse on 18? FWIW, I have hit it before and promptly blamed my playing partner. Not on purpose...just pulled it. It was well struck, just a lot off line. Kenny B
My wife and I played Saturday with the service manager and his boss at my Dodge dealer. After my horrible play a week ago, my short game showed up again and shot 79 with a triple on a par 5... dang tree limb!! On Sunday we played with two ladies from the club who's husbands were unavailable. One left at zero dark thirty for Virginia, and the other had surgery last Thursday. So, I was the token male of the group. I played OK, but not great; shot 82. It could have been worse, but my putting and my new Callaway Sure-Out sand wedge saved some errant approach shots. It really is amazing that when you have no fear of hitting out of a bunker, shots out of that bunker become much easier. The Sure-Out is the best club I have added to my bag in the past 10 years. cnosil, cksurfdude, MattF and 3 others 6 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
