How'd you play?

I played the way I think a bunch of people on here may be able to relate to - I hit a bunch of good shots, more than normal, but my score did not improve... Only a few, umm, not so good shots, eg. the classic turning one shot into three (!!), is all it takes... Makes you appreciate (yet again) how hard this game truly is to be good at all the way through a round!

A win, well sort of for me at the weekend, 76, nett 68 in brutally windy conditions CSS = 73, 1 stroke cut so down to 7.4. Problem was it was a 2 day competition so didn't play on Sunday because I watched the Ryder Cup but still won the Sweep money on Saturday.

1st win for a while, looks like the Arccos Data Analysis is paying off!

Shot a 38/44 today which is a great score for me. Front 9 felt great. Swing left me for a 5 hole stretch on the back, but still got out of there with a score i'm happy with!

39-39-78 on a soggy, mess of a course. Greens were just punched. 

FIR 9/14 Good enough for me.

GIR 10/18. Irons were really bad today. I couldn't start a shot online at all. 

 Putts 17-16-33 greens were a mess. The were wet and sandy. It was a really tough putting day. 

 

I chipped really well. That was the bright spot of an otherwise meh day. I hit so many good chips.

Thanks! Tough is an understatement for them fellas lol. A lot of those fellas kept me in check as a semi-unsupervised 13 year old when I first began playing lol. Bunch of good people.

Didn't keep score today, but it would have been on the higher side. My goal of playing today was to increase my swing speed throughout the round. I watched my distances go up and up as I swung harder. I was doing as instructed I swung smooth all year and my ball striking became much better. Today I gradually increased my swing speed. I watched my smooth 3w go from 205 to 235. I also hit my 4i further than I ever have with multiple hit to 195 which is the farthest I ever have hit it. My ball striking did not deteriorate which made me happy. I putted well and the only real problem was with the increased speed on my first shot when increasing I would be a little erratic, but that didn't last long.

Let's put it this way.... have you ever had one of those times when you wondered who took over your body on the golf course? That was me tonight. I couldn't do one thing right... not one thing. I drove the ball in the trees on every tee shot. I double bogeyed 7 out of 9 holes.... one par and a single bogey was my best on the night...lol. I shot 15 over for 9 holes.  All you can do is laugh and chalk it up to "no one is immune"...lol.

Congratulation Ethan.  That's pretty cool seeing your tournament score sheet.  Today we got a pleasant reprieve in weather.  We played Old Works in Anaconda; likely for the last time in 2018.  It was 39F driving over the continental divide into Butte with steady winds at 10+ mph.  I was wearing a coat on the practice range and by about 9:00, the wind was dying down.  We literally had the entire course to ourselves; pro shop told us the next tee time wasn't until 12:30. As the day went along, the weather just kept getting better.  Aspens were in there full fall colors and it was really gorgeous.  By the time we finished, it was 51F.  OK, now for the round.  I shot a 92 and my buddy shot a 94.  I hit 14 of 16 fairways with my driver, and 3 of 4 par 3's!! They had just plugged the greens and that made putting a bit challenging - they were raked well, but quite bumpy.  But what really cost me shooting my handicap was long irons shots; normally pretty reliable but suspect the Golf Gods had to take back something for the great driving they offered.

First time out with the new iron shafts (Project X Blue Graphite 6.0). Really needed a range session, but tonight is their weekly range cleaning, so II played as a single for 9 dead cold...no warm-up…

Shot my best ever round of 9 with a 44! Wasn't super hot to start w/o the warm-ups, but basically kept it at the "bogie golf" status quo. +9 with 2 pars, 6 bogies and 1 double that was putted to 2" of the cup... Actually made a couple of good putts with one for par that had to have been 35' or so. Felt real nice! No birds of course but no huge mistakes either.

Irons feel...well, different, but overall. I can see them coming in with time since the shots I used them on seemed to go much straighter than with the old R-Flex shafts. Time will tell...

My draw is back, occasionally but I set up for a 10 yd draw on tee shots, then get a push fade and another double bogie lol

last comp of the year tomorrow so hoping to finish with a bang and not a fizzle

Played the ”Bacon Boys” Exec 9 this morning. Weather getting cold, 71* , no humidity great morning. Shot even Par, 1 birdie & bogey. The fun doesn’t stat until we get to the Country Club for breakfast. Sure can tell the War Depts aren’t there, BACON!!

Don't worry about it.  The next time someone takes over your body you will shoot +1.  Happened to me... once.

Played poorly, 8 over after 6, 5 over the last 12. Strange round, most of my dropped shots were driver or short game related, my normal strengths. Irons were mostly solid.

Really not disappointed, it was a beautiful day, mid 70s, only a 1 1/2 club breeze. Wore shorts for the first time since April and enjoyed a few beers during the round with good mates.  All up a very enjoyable day despite the poor golf.

Played my first 18 hole round in nearly 6 weeks and my first round in a month. 40/37 for a plus 5 77. Even on the back though. Was fighting a case of the lefts for most of the day but putted like a nutcase on the back nine. 5 straight one putt holes, only 13 putts total on that side for 2 birdies, the two bogeys were lip outs. Short game was on point for the most part, driving was a bit of an adventure but with colder temps (mid 50's) I was good because it wasn't flying that far anyway. Good as I prep to potentially close my season on Tuesday

Snuck a quick nine in, in 40° weather with a 35° wind chill. Shot okay, 39. 

5/7 fairways, the driver was on today. If I can do that normally I could be a lot lower than a 4. 

4/9 greens, I don't know what happened to my iron game. 

15 putts. Greens were still bumpy from being punched so putting was a little difficult. 

I can feel things coming around if I could just clean up some stupid mistakes.

I birdied #1 then had 4 doubles.  I had 2 birdies on the back, including a chip-in.  I could NOT hit my driver today, but I could chip!!

hmmmm, real mixed bag in the medal yesterday. Some wonderfully struck irons and woods then a thinned or fatted iron and a pulled wood that starts 5 feet off the ground and gets lower running out to 150yds!

How can I be at total opposites in the swing spectrum within minutes of each other?

Had our Ryder cup match called the Hackers Cup yesterday. A 27 hole event of 3 different formats. Our league, the GolfNuts vs the local Golfweek league. They smoked us last year when we played straight up. This year we used handicaps.

This year's results we won 13-11. All the matches were tight. Won my match on the last hole.

Hard to put a event together were all 24 guys don't gripe but I think I was successful yesterday hahaha

Season is over and now time to relax and just play.

Trip to Hot Springs village next weekend. Can't wait. Love those courses. Will try and share pics

Played the club smchamionship this weekend, played from the tips, almost 7000 yards. Played ok, had a few bad tee shots on both days, shot 39-45= 84 on Sat., and 39-43= 82 today. I felt like I hit the ball much better today, but the score didn’t show it. We flipped the 9’s today so we played the back nine first. Struggled finishing on both days. It was brutally hot as well both days, so difficult to focus late in the round on both days. All in all a decent weekend of golf.
