My wife can relate. Before I retired I was traveling on business 3 weeks out of the month. Then I went to being home all of the time and drove her crazy!.

I’ve had 3 shoulder rebuilds, and the good news is that while most everything is difficult, golf comes back quickly. You’ll be down a few months as healing takes place, then just start putting and little chips. The rehab sessions will hurt too so expect that. But in 6 months you’ll be feeling good, so patience! Good luck!

Played again today with my younger friend and of course he was all about the tips, around 6400 yds. And good lord it was cold in the morning, I mean 42°!

shot a 7 over 77, so not my best day. But it was fun playing with my best golf buddy again so I consider it a great day...

Trying to get some holes in before surgery next week. Daughter is home from college and drove  the cart for me yesterday. Soggy and upper 40s. Never scored so no idea bur some good ones and some bad ones. 

Another 18 today. Timing was great. Missed the rain minus a light shower on 18. Hit 2 OB on one for a 9, bogey, bogey, then ran off a string of pars and a birdie. Back waa much more consistent. Didnt score it but pleased with my play considering not playing much and the swing is a struggle to find at times.

Played 9 holes today. First time on a course in awhile!!! Best part about the round was I hit all 7 fairways!!!! Might be the first time ever! Between the swing I’m working on, and the Ping G400 Max with the Rome 688 X shaft, I’m happy as can be!!!

Played solo for the first time in probably 20 plus years at a small exec. that I play regularly. Had a bizarre round.

*Hit every green on the short par 3's (160 and under). There are 7 of them. Usually I bounce off the fringe or find sand on a few of the smaller greens. Missed every birdie putt, which isn't really a surprise.
*Wasn't even close to finding the right club/swing on the longer par 3's (175-200). There are 3 of them.
*Hit the worst slice I've ever hit with the G400.
*Hit 2 hooks with my hybrid. I've sliced the heck out of shots but I've never hit a hook in my life.
*Couldn't get out of the sand, which I had been doing well.
*Found water twice, which I hadn't been doing.
*40 putts - 4 penalties.
*9 pars, 3 bogeys, which means I went +21 ON 6 FREAKIN' HOLES!

Everything about it seemed weird.

Last game before Christmas....it rained and was muddy and every shot plugged lol

shot 77 and hit the ball quite well considering I havent played for 7 weeks.

Played yesterday again, just 9 holes, from blacks. 

It was like I’ve never hit a golf ball before in my life. Well, not quite that bad, but I had a few shots that were just what the heck?

but then I had a few holes that were like I was a tour dude... this game...

Hadn’t touched a club since Thanksgiving but managed to sneak in 18 holes each of the past 3 days in TX.

 

Highlights/lowlights: 10 eagle putts... made zero and only converted 6 for birdies. Won the 5 dollar CTP contest at my folks’ club on Christmas Eve and the bar was already closed when we finished so I didn’t spend the whole pile buying everyone a drink.

 

3-day total: (-5)

 

Really makes me wish I had more time to play this game.

 

Also... Merry Christmas errrbody!

Got in another 9 again today and finished -1. This swing change is turning out to be really good, and I have a ton of confidence in my driver, which hasn’t existed in years! It was a good day with the wedges!!!!

Temperature rocketed to 50* today so 'persuaded' my son to come off the XBOX and caddy for Dad on the big course for a few holes (promised a trip to get a milkshake afterwards)

Played pretty well and my son hit a few shots that impressed me and even impressed him 

Hoping to persuade him out again tomorrow.............."we'll see" he said

Finally, got my stitches removed and the Dr cleared me to play. Played horribly shooting a 47/43:90 today. Eyes feel a bit funny as they were adjusting constantly.......BUT, my eyes did not get watery! Hooray!

As mentioned above, I got to play Bayou with RevKev. Played extra lousy, but had a great time. Had a miserable trip getting there (about 3:30 to make a 1:45 trip), with accidents to avoid and crazy traffic. Rolled in just in time to step up on the tee. I just couldn't get anything going. It only took 17 holes for me to get warmed up, but the 18th was the kind of hole that makes you want to come back.

Still, it was a great day and despite his comment in another thread I'm convinced we played into the wind on all 18 holes.

That's what I thought when I played with Rev and Foz there in 2015.  Great course that I would like to play in better conditions; it was cold and windy.

Had 9 over playing off 8. Took out the new Ping G400 SFT for the first time. Drove the ball well, 11/14 fairways, all misses with the driver, by a total of 2 yards (on the good side). Had a triple and 2 doubles on my first 9 after a good start of 1 under through 3. 

 

Most of my lost shots were a result of mental errors, only a couple of bad swings. Loving the fact that I can have an iron in my hand and not have a sense of dread.

played today in 55*- felt like spring- long game was pretty good, good drives, accurate-ish irons but when I missed a green it would be 3-5 shots to get down.............I am a cr@p pitcher and chipper of the ball.

Whats the point of a booming drive and lasered hybrid to beside the green on a par 5 then taking 4 more to hole out!

thins, fats and coming up way short is killing my scores.

I think I have to make some radical changes as my old way aint working (back foot, less wrist break etc). I even tried 'flipping' to stop the handle keeping in front of the head, but same results. 

I used to be uber confident of chips, now I'm happy if I dont thin or fat................love this game

Tee off at 8 AM today in the weekly game, temp was 72*.....Shot 43/42:85 with a birdie on par 5 #13. My scoring irons were spot on today(8, 9, PW) but I also had 4 three putts! We had 44 players today.

After almost 3 months on not touching the sticks due to our brand new daughter. I finally found some time to get a round in.

Yesterday I hit the range to shake some rust off and I didn't think it went too well, but lo and behold I was first off this morning and hit a personal best 91. My prior best round was a 97 so its a pretty huge deal for me!!

Now that everything is under control at the house and I can get some golf in. I should be back around the forum a good bit.

Thanks! I doubled the last hole too. Which makes it that much worse. But I try to just take the joy in acheiving that pr after having not played in so long.

Didn't play too badly.   38/43-81.  10 fairways, 5 greens, 29 putts.   Couple of doubles on the back to elevate the score. 

Chipping and pitching is getting better;  hit a couple of bad ones but only hitting 5 greens made me hit a lot of them so I was happy with the results.   Been really working on this aspect of my game at home and an assessment of my technique identified something I should tweak and the results have been very positive.   The tweak for those wondering:  keeping the left wrist cupped instead of bowed.  Uses the bounce and doesn't dig the leading edge.

Rolling the ball pretty well the past few times out.  I think my putter knows it will be replaced soon and is respond.  Even having a couple of putters that I don't plan on using in the bag storage room may have helped

Played my first round at my new country club. Shot well. NICE track, as it should be-cuz it’s expensive . A weekday round for a guest is $76, and a weekend morning rate is $150...

needless to say, I don’t need to play much to get even, and the more I play, the cheaper it gets. It’s 6700 yds from the tips, and I played it at black/blue tees, at 6350. Greens were fast, but very sweet. Also free range balls, and very nice chipping and putting. And the carts are like a Lexus.

and best of all, it’s 6 minutes from my driveway...

Looks like that 91 was not a fluke after all. Shot a 94 today in the rain, wind, and fog. Still 3 strokes better than my old pr of 97.

I tried to pay attention to the difference today. It's incredible what a little course management can do. I realized I only took driver on about 4 holes which meant I had 0 penalty strokes.

On any hole where I could take an iron and still get to the green from 170 or less I always took the iron. I hit 5 greens today doing that which is considerably more than usual. Turns out just trying to smash the ball every hole is not the best way for me to play golf.

Attached is my ball mark from the par 3 3rd. It plays about 150. Definitely the most accurate shot of the day.

Tried an "experiment" today. Played a short exec. with my son, and played the front with my usual reckless abandon. "You know I've got to try it" is one of my favorite expressions. Finished that side at +16.

On the back, I gave myself one extra stroke per hole. Par 3 turns into 4, 4 turns into 5, etc. Tried to play for "par." It completely changed the way I approached a couple holes. Played the back at +8.
