Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpy Curious what you mean by take a break from the Arccos? Does having that system tend to draw you into looking at each shots data as you play? It sure looks like a cool system and I'm considering having it added to a new iron set (whenever that happens ) but I could see it might become distracting - perhaps the paralysis by analysis syndrome? PING Apologist #9
Got back to town today just after noon. Was on the golf course by 1:45. Had a bad case of the double-bogies and had only 2 pars all round for a crummy 98. It actually felt better than that since I kept Mr. Snowman at bay and driver was actually on point most of the afternoon. Was excited to put my new 7w in the bag and ditch the 4i, but only had to pull it out once...what a club! chisag
... Wow, you guys in the Midwest have really had it rough this year. I figured coming home from Phoenix 5/6 Spring would be in it's full glory with sunshine and 70's mixed in with a few late spring showers. So after playing most every day all winter long I have not played in 10 days!?!? Cold, windy and very wet. Since I played a ton of golf already in 2019 I can't cry baby too much as you guys have waited ALL year just to see Mother Nature give Old Man Winter an inexcusable extension. MattF
In a word, terrible. No idea of my score because I left my bloody Shot Scope at home. Halfway to the course and I'm going through things in my head and had an image of it sitting on the charger on the kitchen bench. I'm now hitting a hard draw bordering on a hook with almost every club and I have no idea why, except for a slightly flatter swing. I may have to go with two different swings for woods and irons because the driver swing is not working for the irons...either that or having the irons bent to accommodate. BTW the course wasn't as wet as it has been and they actually got to mow the rough. cksurfdude and gaussman1 1 1 Quote In the bag: Driver: Darkspeed X 9° UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue 7F4 Fairway: Apex UW 19° & 21° Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 5.5 Irons: JPX 923 HMP 5-PW UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: T-22 Denim Copper 48°, 52° & 56° UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter Sycamore 005 Wide Blade Bag: Fairway 14 stand bag Balls: Chrome Tour Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the King, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! Whether that's because the face is pretty neutral and the path is way too much inside out, or because the path is fairly neutral and the face is shut is what you need to figure out. Short is dead - in the junk Short left is dead - in the bunker w/impossible up and down Long is dead as it rolls of the back and the cart path is back there so it goes into the woods. Right is dead as there is a giant granite rock there and path is just out of the picture on the right with more woods. There is a little bailout short right at about 100 yards or you can aim for the green. The green is decent sized so you don't have to hit a perfect shot but standing in the fairway it does look intimidating.... To make it even worse, the second time I played this hole there was a group standing on the green (a 3some) and asked me if I wanted to play through - I said 'sure'... so they're standing on the green and watching me hit this approach shot..... (GULP).... I landed it about 20 feet right of the pin, took my 2 putt and was pleased. Was gonna ask you about the "context" of that photo in your 'crossed a barrier' post .. yeah, that's some approach! And CONGRATS!, by the way .. Grand Stranded
I had one of those "head scratchers" yesterday. Par on 1. Screwed up the 2nd hole, triple. All pars the rest of the front 9 except for the par 3 8th. I topped an 8 iron into a waste area between the tee and green. Hit my reload within 5 feet, but gagged on the putt, took a 5. Still, I was very happy with 5 over on the front. Then the wheels came off. The back 9 starts with par 5, 3, 5, and a really tough par 4. I went 9, 7, 8, 7 on them. I just completely lost my swing, which is becoming a problem at some point during almost every round I've played lately. Then just the way it left, it came back. I finished the last 5 holes 2 over, which made me feel a little better. The mid round collapse took me completely out of the running in the low net/gross competition I was playing in though. Now that it's over and done I'll chalk it up to being in the middle of a swing change, but that doesn't make it less frustrating when its happening in real time. cksurfdude
Played in a charity outing this past Thursday which our group all started out thinking was "best ball" .. which we'd all started out thinking was "everyone hits their second shot from the best drive, then everyone hits or putts from the best approach" .. but which we then found out was everyone plays their own ball and the best individual score becomes the team score for that hole .. which I later learned IS "best ball"...... (Thanks, KennyB!) Anyway, I had either very good (for me) or very bad (for anyone) holes... Was able to contribute a team par and one or two team bogeys; also had a few other bogeys and doubles but at the same time the other guys did, too. But then on too many holes I made too many mistakes and had i-dunno-how-many 7s..... Short game and putting were disappointingly weak, but on the upside most of the full shots were (surprisingly!) solid - even a few from messy or uneven lies - plus I even started to get the driver going! Very happy with that! MattF, Rickp and StrokerAce 3 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ... Finally may have the handicap trending the right direction again. cksurfdude and cnosil 2 Quote Driver: 311XF Gen5, Tensei CK Pro Orange, S flex Fariway: 311XF Gen6 3-Wood, Tensei Blue 55g R flex Hybrid: 211, 3H Project X Evenflow H, 80g, 5.5 TSR2 4H, Tensei Blue R (Forum Tester) Irons: T200 2023, Tensei Blue R (Forum Tester), 5-GW Wedges: CBX2 Zipcore 52*, 56* Project X Catalyst Spinner Graphite Shaft Putter: ER2 Murdered Out
azstu324
Played my local exec and on a driveable par 4 that plays around 300 yds to the back of the green from the long tees... I'm usually pretty close.. within 10 yds or so. I tried stepping on the gas a little harder and accidentally drove through the green by about 20 yds. This was just pure smash and roll. No cart path or sprinkler bounce.. where the hell did that come from?! And how can I get more of it?the more I practice, the luckier I seem to get.. cksurfdude, Rickp, MattF and 1 other 4 Quote PXG 0311 Gen 5 9°/ Fujikura MotoreX F1 6X F6 3 Wood 14* / Kuro Kage Silver 65X F8 6 wood 20* / Fujikura MotoreX F3 6S RADSpeed Hybrid 24* TS1 4-GW / FCM Precision 6.5 Rifle TSW Wedge - 56/12 EAS 1.0 / Grip master 2.0 MAXFLI Tour CG

Sluggo42
I’ve been a bit “fat”on the ball lately, so I tried the “Kooch “ method of holding the club in the air behind the ball, and then swinging. i was knocking them really cleanly. I will be doing that next week to see if it works again . downlowkey
With some trepidation, I played the first 9 hole loop with my vintage set (plus Bettinardi SS38 Armlock). The stats: (-2) 6/7 fairways, 7/9 greens, 13 putts, 3 birdies, 1 bogey I decided on the tips (3539 yds) for this initial test and soft, extra furry fairways made for some unusual club selections (more on that later). Highlights/lowlights: The persimmons are lasers and my only missed fairway was a driver that I blitzed through an uphill dogleg. Birdied the first followed by three ho-hum pars that included my missed fairway and first missed green. Then came the (450 yd) 5th - tight dogleg right with a bunker on the outside corner ~280 yds off the tee. I pulled 3 wood to stay short of the trap and hit one a little off the toe that only limped out there ~250 yds. The hole was cut back right behind a bunker (203 yds) with a little hurting breeze. Long is bad so I selected 5 iron, flushed one right at it and watched greedily up until the moment it dropped short in the bunker. Oh that’s right... my 1962 5-iron is a modern 6-iron loft... that was never enough club. A lackluster extraction with the triple duty wedge led to a 1-putt bogey. Tees were moved up on the 7th and the hole was cut on the front edge (133 yds) into a one club breeze. After a quick loft recalculation, solid 9-iron stopped 8 feet behind the hole. I made the putt for birdie number 2 but that wasn’t the interesting part. I left the flagsticks in all day, and in this case, conditions converged such that the shadow gave me a dead nuts perfect line from the middle of the hole, right through the center of my ball. It felt very strange standing over the straight putt thinking, just roll it right down the shadow, but it worked. Next hole I had 153 yds from the center of the fairway with the same breeze now helping to a hole cut back edge. Pulled the 9-iron... again and ended up 8 feet behind the hole... again, for birdie number 3. Takeaways: I need to lose the butter knife deuce and put another wedge in the bag. Because that 2 iron looks downright mean and trying to feather one 82 yards to a hole cut over a bunker with a vintage 53* wedge doesn’t feel like a high percentage shot. Despite it not feeling totally comfortable yet, the Bettinardi is very good. Apparently there’s a whole other unconsidered advantage (albeit low probability of occurrence) to leaving the flagstick in that makes it feel even more like cheating. Playing with vintage clubs is fun (read: engaging) and surprisingly doesn’t make me wince when I’m adding up the tally. Although those ancient steel shafts give me the achey elbows. Finally, as reward for reading through all that nonsense, a persimmon porn clip: this 3-wood was unintentionally pegged 291 yds down the hill... leading to the aforementioned low percentage 82 yd (went 102 yds) gap wedge and my first missed green. perseveringgolfer, MattF, cksurfdude and 3 others 4 2 Quote PXG___0811 X 9* - Mitsubishi Diamana s60 Limited X Cobra___S9-1 Pro 15* - Matrix Ozik XCON 7 S Adams___XTD Forged 3i - Matrix Ozik Program F15 120 S Adams___CMB 4-PW - Matrix Ozik Program F15 120 S KZG___Tri-Tour 50.08__54.10__58.12 - Accra iCWT 2.0-95i S Nike___Method Converge B1-01 (copper insert) Maxfli___'23 Tour X "The most important shot in golf is the next one“
Reesedw
Went out Fri morning after work with SWMBO.. I played a horrible round.. Had a great time with the Mrs.. Who played really well.. we only played 9 at local 9 hole course about 15 min from the house. I had one of those days where the decent shots were sandwiched between crap and garbage.. I played K-Sig's new ball.. OK I understand that feel does not indicate performance holy crap they felt bad.. somewhere between a Mojo and a Pinnacle... they did seem to spin and stop nicely, but damn they feel bad..
