Shankster
Played my old stomping grounds today. Shot an sloppy 82, it easily could have been a 75, or a 95. But I missed some chances, and saved some bogeys. Was pretty soupy out there, lots of rain lately.Shots of the day was a 9 iron from 152 to 6” out of the rough. That’s good news, it means I’m getting my distance back. And another 9 iron out of the rough from behind a tree to 3’, only about a 80 yard shot. Opened the face up to probably a 56°, played it like a bunker shot.Good to get the “reps” in. Need more time to practice on course.Pretty stiff for the first 7 holes. Helped my dad move a bunch of stuff yesterday and sleeping on a rock mattress takes a toll on me.Did some head to head testing with the Snells... very, very interesting results, but you’ll have to wait for that. ncwoz
Got in 18 today at Silver Lake CC in Michigan. Based on course conditions not sure they're doing the greatest. Had the course basically to myself though, that was pretty awesome. Anyways, first time I've played in two weeks, and felt pretty good! Inconsistent from the tee, but my approach and chipping was best it's been in a while, putting was solid enough not to mess anything up. Ended up going 43/44, tied for best score of the year. Avoided any triples, which is huge for me. Also put 3/4 par 3's on the green. I did have to navigate this shot at one point which had me feeling like I was out at Pebble with the big boys: Felt great to get out! This Michigan "summer" has been so wet, pretty much have to play any time the weather is decent enough to get any golf in. Hoping to keep momentum going! pulledabill
Started playing again after taking a lengthy for me break. Played 1 round in the last couple of weeks until a couple night ago. 2 weeks ago I hit all but one fairway and stillshot 87. My game has been real good at times, but so has a steady diet of penalties, doubles, triples and even a quad or 2. Ive played 9 each of the last 3 nigts and shot 37,41, and 38. One double in 27 holes and 3 birdies. One of a putt and 2 chip ins. A few suttle changes plus FINALLY pain free after carpal tunel surgery has helped find a bit of a game.See ifit holds and drops a stroe or two more as I have tournies coming up. Focused on ball placement in my stance off the tee, holding clubs a bit farther down, and tempo have been the subtle keys. Hopingto be back in single digits next update then backin the 6/7 range mud July. DiscipleofPenick
Hadn't been out in 2 weeks about an 84. No feel for short game, as I was sick so no practice either. Working on new swing thoughts 1 birdie, 1 penalty that led to double. Also I'm sticking to the middle tees until I break 80 then moving back. If I can't break 80 from tees between 6000-6300 yards why am I playing the tips???Take Dead Aim cksurfdude and MattF 2 Quote Take Dead Aim Driver: PXG 0211 10.5* Fairway: Titleist 917 F3 15* Hybrid: Adams Idea Pro Boxer Gold 18* Irons: MacGregor MT-86 Pro Wedges: Vokey 50/54/58 Putter: SeeMore X2 Costa del Mar Ball: Srixon Z-Star

edingc
- 42 (+6) - 2/7 FIR - 3/9 GIR - 16 Putts - Average First Putt Distance: 18.1 Feet Adding the first putt distance because I won't start to score any better until my short game improves. Very happy overall with how I played this morning. Driver was much better than Sunday, still a work in progress. Irons were not great, but got better toward the end of the round. Chipping was good as I've changed my strategy some there and am working in my pitching wedge more than my 54 degree. The putting numbers look good, but they could be a lot better. I left a lot of putts short. Some short enough to have 5-7 footers yet. Not good enough. All in all, still the second best front nine I've had this year. If for all, then you are probably not painting the right picture. Need to understand that metric from various distances to truly understand the weakness. Chips/pitches from around the green will be closer than 30+ yards. This is the strength of the strokes gained model and the various shot tracking apps. You can do it manually but have to track lots of distances and clubs used. That said keep up the good work, it is important to understand weaknesses to be able to get better. TR1PTIK
A couple days after the fact, but I shot an 81 Sunday afternoon practically playing speed golf. Rain was expected for the day so the golf course was basically empty when I got out there. A fivesome ahead caused me to skip holes 5&6 then go back to them later. Played really solid golf for the most part, but easily missed out on a new PR. Missed an easy 3-footer for birdie on #4, duffed a tee shot on #14 then proceeded to blast hybrid OB , went long on #15 and failed to get up and down, good opportunity for birdie on #18 that turned into a bogie, another flub when I returned to #6... If I could just take back that missed birdie putt and penalty for going OB, I'd have tied my career round for the third time. Oh well, that's golf. I'm still getting better every time I go out so I expect to break that barrier again soon. I was striking the ball well just overdrawing waaaaayyyyyy off my intended line. One of my buddies was doing that and the final cure for him was simply going to a more neutral grip. Are you seeing 2 or 3 knuckles of your left hand at address? Make sure you have a neutral right angle of stance to target line and soften your grip by one knuckle and have a few rips, and adjust your grip after a few good hits, until you dial it in. youve got to be careful at how you go after this, as you don’t want to compound a problem with additional incorrect “cures”. If this doesn’t smooth the hook out, you’d better get an assessment from a pro to make sure your natural swing doesn’t have a little glitch that’s causing your problem... bmaru99 and cksurfdude 2 Quote TSr2 on tensi blue stiff Speedzone 3-wood on Tensi blue S Epic Max 5 and 7 woods on HZRDUS Reg flex Paradym 9 wood on HZRDUS reg flex P770 / P790 combo set on Ventus R-6 shafts 6-AW T22 Denim Copper 54°, 58° on Kinetic X Trajectory ER3 or, E.A.S. #4 (“Fang” or “Adele”) ProV1x, or, Maxfli Tour X .Org 14 cart bag Adidas Tour 360 , or Sketcher shoes

It's for all. I should break it out more, I keep it on my card as an additional stat. It's my approaches that are the killer, GAME Golf shows that. When I score well, my driving and putting are the reason for that. My approach and short game haven't really improved at all this season so far. Short game struggles today: 1) After leaving myself 50-something yards to the pin with my opening drive, I hit a lob wedge too short and had to chip onto the green. 2) On the second hole it took me two attempts with my pitching wedge from 40 yards or so to get on the green. Thankfully, my second attempt nearly went in the hole and I one-putted for bogey. 3) Left myself 90 yards to the pin on the par 5 No. 3 (my favorite distance), but caught too much of my 54 degree and was on the back fringe instead of the green. So there's three strokes right there before I was even on the green... You're correct. Thinking about it now I really wasn't awful when I hit the green. Stats above show that, too. Thanks for the insight. If you are familiar with Harvey Penick, he had a very good player come to him for a putting lesson. Penick agreed and the player (at a loss as to his name right now) grabbed his putter and starting walking to the putting green. He turned looking for Penick, who was on his way to the range. The player caught up to him and said "I asked for a putting lesson" Penick replied "you putt fine, but you don't hit it close enough to the hole." This is the case for probably every golfer. If on the tour a 50/50 putt is 8 feet, ours is obviously longer. Yes putting can really make or break a score but that happens too randomly for most people to rely on. In order to consistently improve you have to hit the ball closer. I used to average about 28 putts per round. Now I am just above 30. The difference I hit more GIR than before. But if I just focused on the putting stats I would think that I have gotten worse. cnosil, MattF, cksurfdude and 1 other 4 Quote Stealth 2+ 9 (Diamana PD 60 S 45") Stealth 2+ 15 (Diamana PD 70 S 43") G425 19 (Raijin 2.0 85x) G425 22 (Raijin 2.0 85x) ZX7 5-9 (KBS C Taper S) Vokey SM9 45 10 F (KBS 610) Vokey SM9 49 08 F (KBS 610) Vokey SM9 55 08 M (KBS 610) Vokey SM9 59 04 T (KBS 610) Spider GT Splitback 34" ProV1 #23 Twitter @THEZIPR23 "One thing Golf has taught me, is that my muscles have no memory." Are you seeing 2 or 3 knuckles of your left hand at address? Make sure you have a neutral right angle of stance to target line and soften your grip by one knuckle and have a few rips, and adjust your grip after a few good hits, until you dial it in. youve got to be careful at how you go after this, as you don’t want to compound a problem with additional incorrect “cures”. If this doesn’t smooth the hook out, you’d better get an assessment from a pro to make sure your natural swing doesn’t have a little glitch that’s causing your problem... Yes, I think it might be a grip issue as well. I will try that today and see how it helps me. Thank you for the analysis, I appreciate it.
