Jmikecpa
Played in a tournament yesterday on Long Island at a course I had never played. Fairly tight and fairly short with greens that were top dressed but not punched. Hit driver twice all day and almost wore out the grooves on my four iron with tee balls. My partner and I posted a respectable -9 to lose by 8 shots. Even worse was that it was a six hour round......six hours to play 18 holes. Never again at this event. Popular Post fozcycle
Shot 40/40:80 today with a birdie on par 4 #9 and par 3 #17. Shankster
85 today. Was experimenting with only hitting fades. Much better golf than yesterday. I bogeyed all four of the par 5’s and 3 of four the par 3’s. A double on a par 4 because of a lost ball in the fairway... caught a tree root in a side hill for a bogey.Good game plan going forward. Only hitting fades unless a draw is called for. Also, I need to get fit for a driver. I was hitting my 2 Hybrid 250, and my mini driver 230...? Used the hybrid for all but 1 tee shot on the longer holes. If the fairways were cut a bit tighter I wouldn’t need anything more than that thing. Rickp
Started playing again after taking a lengthy for me break. Played 1 round in the last couple of weeks until a couple night ago. 2 weeks ago I hit all but one fairway and stillshot 87. My game has been real good at times, but so has a steady diet of penalties, doubles, triples and even a quad or 2. Ive played 9 each of the last 3 nigts and shot 37,41, and 38. One double in 27 holes and 3 birdies. One of a putt and 2 chip ins. A few suttle changes plus FINALLY pain free after carpal tunel surgery has helped find a bit of a game.See ifit holds and drops a stroe or two more as I have tournies coming up. Focused on ball placement in my stance off the tee, holding clubs a bit farther down, and tempo have been the subtle keys. Hopingto be back in single digits next update then backin the 6/7 range mud July. Didn't help that we shotgun started on a par 3 followed by a difficult par 4 where you must lay up before carrying a hazard to the green. This outing is on a pretty unforgiving course and also tends to field once-per-year golfers, which doesn't help pace of play any. cksurfdude, cnosil and MattF 2 1 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Popular Post perseveringgolfer
Things getting more consistent. Still working on the pro's sound advice, hard to put into practice when you have a tight tee shot with OB down the right so I did have 5 bogies and a double, the double bogie was on a par 3 when I was 6yrds away from the pin in one, fluffed chip, chipped on and 2 putts, from nowhere. 3 birdies saw a 74 but an enjoyable striking and putting round. Here's out Par 5 15th, a driver can sometimes get over this hill, and if you are left of this marker you get another 80yds giving a 'possible' chance to get on in 2. I was just left of my trolley- sharp eyed viewers will notice no driver in my bag (yet) - so it was 4W to here, another 4W just left of the two bunkers on the right, 54* wedge to 10 feet and holed for a birdie. Our course is in very good condition this year. cnosil, Big money, MattF and 7 others 10 Quote Driver Awaiting NEW Driver (after 10 yrs) 4 Wood Callaway Big Bertha Steelhead plus 4+ Callaway shaft in 'Firm' flex Hybrid Titleist 910H 19* Diamana ahina 'flower' shaft in 'S' Irons Mizuno MP18SC 4-PW N.S Pro Modus3 Tour 105 in 'S' Wedges Callaway Mack Daddy forged in black 50* and 54* KBS Tour in 'R' Putter 'YES' Tracy 11 C groove 34.5"
StrokerAce
Every single team in our league was 2 under yesterday but I dunno... It was wet and rainy which makes the course play longer than normal and some of these guys are rather "liberal" with their best ball placement. I went back to my 'old' swing and hit the ball really well. Most holes I was left having to hit the 'best' shot as the other 3 guys went OB or way off line. Maintaining our 8 stroke lead over the field ... hopefully the weather warms up and the course dries out so we can extend it. This course does NOT drain well and you get a lot of plugged lies when it rains. perseveringgolfer, russtopherb, Rickp and 5 others 8 Quote Driver- Cobra Aerojet LS Woods- Cobra LTD 3w 15*, 5W 19*, F9 24* Irons- XXIO X (6-A) Wedges- Callaway Jaws Raw (54/58) Putter- Bettinardi BB56 Ball- Maxfli Tour X/Wilson Triad Buggy- Clicgear 4.0 Bag- Callaway Org 14/Fairway C
Siamese Moose
I did something this morning I've never done before: got nine straight pars (back 9). I"m an 11 (this should drop me to 10), and I'm working to get back to single digits. Once upon a time I was down to 5, but that was before two back surgeries. But even then, I'd never shot straight pars. Overall a 76. Happy camper! DrMJG
Played a short 9 hole course. Too short to call a full executive, too long to be a true Par 3 course. CarlH
Continuing to struggle post surgery and 6 week layoff, but played 18 today. Lost a ball on the first hole and then put another in the water on #7....3 birdies salvaged a 84. My iron play showed periods of the single digit ball striker I used to be along with periods of ball striking that resemble someone who struggles to break 100. Burned a lot of putts on the edges and wasn't real happy with most drives. My expectations are still too high, me thinks. While I wasn't particularly happy with my overall day, there are moments that remind me that I can play.
