perseveringgolfer
Played ok today- won my 3rd round h/cap singles tie on the 21st hole with a chip in birdie (slightly thinned chip, 2 bounces and down the cup like a rat down a drainpipe ) +6 for the round and giving 10 shots away. It's a hard game giving 10 shots when your opponent out drives you with his 3 wood Windy and squally showers frequently- got absolutely soaked on 18 and was dry by the 20th hole as it's quite warm today. silver & black
I played well today. I shot 78. It's been a while since I had a 7 in front of my score. Funny how you think you can't do it anymore, then...... there it is. I had a relevently pain free round for the first time in quite a while. It's amazing how free you can swing without pain. ole gray, golfertrb, Rickp and 6 others
edingc
- 43/47 = 90 (+18) - 8/15 FIR - 5/18 GIR - 34 Putts This was one of those rounds where the score isn't indicative of how I swung the club. Today was easily my best ball-striking/general iron and wood day of the year. I pured several irons, and man did it feel so great. Of course, I couldn't get my chipping or putting to cooperate. Three three putts really hurt. And I hit the ball so well I overshot a few greens with my approaches. A nice problem to have, I suppose. I lost a ball in the rough off of the fairway on No. 10. Second time this has happened in the last two rounds, and it's incredibly frustrating. Kind of derailed my round for about 3-4 holes until I got my mind off of it. perseveringgolfer, MattF, chisag and 1 other 4 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Popular Post revkev
It was hotter than heck out there today. This little birdie says I made 2 on the back to finally get my mojo back and shoot 36 after two horrible league nines and a front 9 42 that saw me endure a series of bad bounces and lip outs for the ages. Kenny B
Why do I do this to myself? My wife and I were just a twosome today; not many people out for some reason. We played holes 1-4 and I was even par which is a good start for me; bogey on #3 and birdie on #4. We had to wait on the group in front of us on the #4 tee and on the #5 tee. At that time another twosome came up behind us, so we let them join us. I was +7 on the rest of the front nine for a 44. I was pi$$ed. They were nice guys, but they never shut up and one guy was so deliberately slow. It was excruciating!! At the turn I told my wife that I was going to totally ignore them; just like they weren't there, not even pay attention to where they hit the ball. I usually try to be sociable when playing, but that didn't work on the front nine. I had a birdie and two bogeys on the back nine for a 36; a round of 80. I didn't hit the ball any better on the back nine; just focused better around the greens. perseveringgolfer, revkev, golfertrb and 1 other 4 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
Kenny B
Oh, one more thing... On the #7 tee box was a divot apparently from the group in front of us. The fairway is to the left of the pond which is not in play off this tee unless you hit a really bad shot. I'm guessing that the ball went in the water. fozcycle, Big money, Rickp and 1 other 4 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Kenny B
Nine hole walking round today with my regular group on Mondays. Birdie on #2 and double bogey on #3; rest were pars for a +1 round of 38. Best shot was on the par 5 #5 hole; 147y 8i from a downhill lie out of the rough to 15 feet; missed the birdie putt!! I also did something on hole #8 that I have never done before from the Blue tees. I hit an iron!! The hole usually plays 180-215y depending on where the pin is located, where they place the tee box, and it usually plays into the prevailing wind. It's a bugger of a hole for me. I usually hit a hybrid, but it was a Red flag pin, the tee box was up, and I had a slight tailwind. My GPS said 174y to the front; I hit a 6i to 25 feet, but again missed the birdie putt. Big money
Shot a nice 91 yesterday that matched the 90 degree temps with no wind at all. When I’m swinging well I naturally take a medium to large size divot on my iron shots. The ball will come out lower and really has some sauce when it hits the greens (wedges especially). When I play real bad I have zero divot and the ball flies very poorly. Is a divot something I should force.Or just let it happen naturally? And why is it good days I take a natural flush divot Divots just happen based on swing. Don’t force it. fozcycle
Wow! For the second time in three weeks, I broke 80 with a 36/43:79! I had 6/14 FIRs , 7/18 GIRs & 30 putts. I started out with 5 Pars, then Bogey, Bogey, Birdie, Par for a smooth 36 on the Front 9. The back side was not as spectacular, shooting a 43: Bogey, 4 Pars, Bogey, Bogey, Double & Bogey. I was making great contact with my Callaway Rogue Driver with the longest drive at 221 yds. BTW, I gamed the Wilson Staff C:25 Golfball ......that’s right! A 3 piece ball that was popular about 7 years ago. I had a dozen, purchased two years ago for $5/dozen..decided to pot them in play before breaking out the new Maxflis. MaxEntropy
Tonight was either good or really bad: 4 pars, three triples (ugh), and two bogies. A storm started to roll through as we were finishing. The 17th par 3 was dead into the "freshening" breeze and 18 was straight downwind. See the screen caps below to compare two 7 irons. Both were solid. We won't talk about the drive that required that long of a second shot when the other three in my group had little chips as second shots. Beyond that drive, I was very happy with driver tonight. kardboard.kid, Big money, Rickp and 3 others 6 Quote Driver: Epic Speed 9* (set -1) MMT 70X 3W: Tour B JGR Recoil 760ES 3H, 4H: Tour B JGR 19*, 23* Recoil 780ES 4-AW: Tour B JGR HF2 Modus3 Tour 105 SW: RTX Zipcore Black Satin 54* LW: TAIII Black 58* Putter: Scottsdale TR Senita Bag: BigMax Dri Active Lite Ball: TP5x or AVX (yellow) Pushcart: BigMax iQ+ Testing Complete, Final Review Posted: Sub70 TAIII Forged Wedges
