pulledabill
Been bored with my home course so venturing out while on vacation. Headed to Camas Meadows a couple days ago. Funky layout and tough. Shot 84 with 4 balls inthe water. 2 I flat out pulled the ball,1 I didnt see the water on the card. and the other I flat out chunked it. Otherwise I found fairways. Yesterday was at Salem GC. An early morning round for a 78. On the patio with a beer at 9am. Fairways and greens...doubled #1 hdcp and 1 three putt bogey. Took back to back bogeys as I played through a couple foursomes. Gets me rattled. Today I played a twilight 9 at Santiam. Lowest 9 holes ever for a -1. Greens and fairways. At one point I was 2 under, middle fairway, and licking my chops with a simple 105 yard 52 degree wedge to a dead middle pin.Toed it a bit and caught right edge of green and trickled off the side. Didnt get up/down. Came back and birdied 16, par 17, bogey 18 thanks to a bad tee shot that left me a punch out. I gambled on the punch and got to 65 yards instead of lateral to 150. 65 is tough yardage for me and I caught left fringe and got up/down. Ive been playing a driver and 3w off the tee over my normal 5w. Hitting it well and enjoying the extra 30-70 yard off the box. Lots of short irons instead of long irons. sirchunksalot
I played two rounds this weekend. The first round I played 18 holes and shot a personal best 88 47/41. Caught fire on the back nine highlighted by a drive on the 250 yard par 4 that hit the green. I missed the eagle putt, but just hitting the green made my round. Hitting that green has been my obsession for over a year and to finally do it was something I'll never forget.I got a nine hole round in today, shot 45 at the same course as yesterday. Hit 4/7 fairways and 2/9 greens, but only had 16 putts. My Arccos handicap putting for the round was 2.1, a personal best. I hit the ball really solid - extremely flush and scored terribly - shot 2 over. On the Par 5 2nd hole a pair of walkers were out walking the entire length of the hole. They seemed totally oblivious to the fact that golf happened on a golf course. I got really irritated and it took me entirely too long to get over it. Oh well. sp0rtsfan86
Had our club championship this weekend and my have things changed since the last one I played in over 5 years ago. One I'm no longer a 12 handicap, I'm pretty much a 18. Number two the struggle was real on Sunday. Saturday I had a great round going up until 15 a long par 5 along water. After dunking one in the lake, I pulled the next one into a ditch, lost my footing, hit a poor chip tapping in for a 9. On 18 I 4 putted from an inch off the rough from 15. Sunday conditions were not good. The course was wet, but it was breezy. The scores in my flight were all 5-6 strokes higher than yesterday. My score was 101, but also had a 10 and 7 on the same nine. This year is so frustrating because I'm about 5-10 strokes worse than last year. I haven't had any consistency from round to round and it's one thing after the other. When I drive it, my irons are awful, when I can chip and putt, I can't stay on the course. Next year will be interesting now that I have a full year on this course. tony@CIC
We had 2 separate fronts move through yesterday - one in the afternoon which cancelled our golf game after 2 holes. The other was at night with torrential rainstorm. Needless to say the course was soaked this morning. It was cart path only and exceptionally humid. After 11 holes it felt more like playing 27. pulledabill
Walked 18 this afternoon. My course is a long walk then add the sun and it takes a toll. +4 on front thanks to a dbl on a par 5. Back I faded inte heat and a sore back. I really need to get rid of the spare tire I carry and work on stamina. golfertrb
Played Lincoln Park East this afternoon with my eldest son and we both played really well. He broke 70 for the first time with a 69 - so great! Proud moment for him. Really, really hot today but it was a beautiful day.
