all over the place yesterday- 78 hacks around the course, thins, HUGE fats, pulls, low snap hooks off the tee.

Unbelievably my short game kept me at just 2 over after 9, but you can only keep that going for so long.

You know that way when you absolutely know what you are doing wrong, but just cant change it from the top of the swing? 🙄

Tomorrow is another day and after a few youtube videos with drills to 'fix' my known issue, I will attempt to focus properly tomorrow.

The game is no fun when you are trying a 'fix' on every shot 😂

what a difference a day makes!...and some youtube focus😉

The youtube video @jlukes posted about using the ground properly with the trail foot has enabled my hips to turn naturally as opposed to the forced spinning I was doing. It was a joy playing again, thanks jlukes.

Every club in the bag was a proper solid strike (the way I used to do it lol) which gave me a relatively comfortable 73. I did have a double and a bogie which came from the 'old' turn which gave me a pull hook into big trouble, but most Tee shots were past my single handicap partners by some margin.

She put the ball in play when I couldn't, and she made every putt for our team.  Seriously.  Anytime I got to putt, I missed.

Anytime you can do something special with your kids it’s something both will remember

A fun after work 9 yesterday:
image.png.98998f5f05a8cc2abce53fa1f3e15261.png

I appreciate that I was confident enough to not let my round completely tank with back to back double bogeys. Not the best day with my short game, but it didn't hurt me either.

Got 9 holes in this morning but only 6 holes were dry. Showers hit us early, 8:15 am.
Played reasonably well, no score due to “slippery grip” syndrome.
Now we just need to get past this weekend storm.
Next Bacon Boys Friday morning, they want to go to a Buffet after golf, no surprise there.

Our guys group played a new course today - Red Hawk Run in Findley Ohio. This was a Links style course with LOTS of bunkers. My drives were great but putting not so much. I kept leaving them a 1/2 roll away from the hole. Ended up with a 95. With the wind blowing about 20 mph - (and it seemed like it was) in our face on every hole - guess it wasn't too bad.

Another small step forward...

Played 18 at a new course close to an hour drive away (if light traffic) and it was worth it! Really nice course in great condition, good layout with a variety of holes and relatively quiet during the week. We walked and it was nice to find that in almost all cases the next tee was very close to the last green.

Played the front tees with my wife - no Senior tees there - which are listed as:
5315 yds; 68.1/114

Front 9...
1 birdie (on a Par 4)
2 pars
4 bogeys
2 doubles
with 0 penalties, a (very distressing...) 4-chip (who does that?!?), 2 x 3-putts
.. for a +7/43 = new PB for a "full" (Par 36) 9.

Back 9, tho...
1 par
6 bogeys
1 double
1 triple (ouch!)
with 1 penalty (tee shot went under trees .. couldn't find it right away and just took a drop; only lost ball of the day); 3 x 2-chips (yuck); 1 x 3-putt
.. for a +11/47

.. for my first ever 90!!!

Interestingly I had at least 3 good chances on each 9 to sink a 1-putt but each time the first putt grazed an edge of the hole and came to rest literally within inches.... And one of the 3-putts was after one of those almost-1-putts! I just carelessly jabbed at the comeback putt and .. of course .. it rolled right past the hole... (dumbo!!)

Not sure why my short game chipping/pitching decided to come and go in unpredictable spurts; but I know a few times I was too tentative and did not execute the desired shot.

But overall I had a number of good golf shots that I'm happy with and will definitely go back to this course again in the near future! They also have a separate 9-Hole course that a few guys said was challenging yet fun - gotta try that one, too.

Oh, PS:
I did _not_ buy a new 3W from the pro shop 😆 but I did buy a course logo polo.

And PPS: "Mrs. Surfdude" didn't keep score but said she had her best round to date 👍

Sounds like a fun round.  Congratulations on the 90!  I'm still on the side of needing to break 100.

Last Saturday I took my dad at a 9-hole, par 30 course we hadn't played yet.  I made two pars, which is incredibly rare for me, but they were sandwiched in between a bunch of triple bogies.  I haven't quite figured out squaring up the club face at impact so there was no telling where the ball was going to go.  Luckily my short game was decent.  I hit some nice pitch and chip shots and my putting was solid, even had a couple of one putts which is another very rare occurrence for me.  One of the highlights was hitting what must have been at least a 25-30 foot putt from the fringe all the way to the hole towards the back of the green.  It broke just a little bit left at the end for an easy tap in.  Just a little bit more on it and it would have gone it.  Ended up shooting an 18 over so not too shabby considering I couldn't hit the ball straight.

I played a two ball game today at Beaverhead GC (Dillon, MT).  My first drive found OB in the driving range but from there on it was a dandy round.  Ball #1 (Snell MTB-X) 40/44 and ball #2 (Taylormade TP5) 37/41.  I had a total of 6 (as in six) birdies and hit a handful of approach shots that left me inside 4 feet 👍. Ball #1, 13 GIR and 5 missed fairways.  Ball #2, 12 GIR and 3 missed fairways.  I also made several long putts which always helps the scorecard.

+5 in the heat today. Love hitting quality golf balls when the temp rises. 30 putts, 55% fairways, 45% greens, and 50% up/down. .  Took a double on #5  after going in to it -1.    5, 6. and 7 I played 4 over. Historically that stretch bites me sometimes.

Game has been good and ball striking has been solid.  Short game could be better.

Trending to a 7.1 which is good  until tourny time rolls around come spring.

After 5 days off I wondered how I would fare...

shot a 1 over 72 on the first 18, and then a -1 on another 9 holes. It was as tho I couldn’t hit a bad shot, and if I was a better putter, whoa Nellie I coulda gone low.

thats why pros can go so low, they can flat out putt to go along with a serious game

4/7 fir

3/9 gir 😭

15 putts

No 3 jacks and left an eagle putt a foot short on #9. Couldn't hit a green and just felt totally lost standing over the ball with anything other than driver. Hit a great 4i from 200 to pin high on the 9th but as mentioned, missed the eagle putt.

TZ6 feels really nice, and the 3 fairways I missed were with fairway woods and my 4i go figure. Not sure if I'm losing distance compared to my Tensei AV, but the dispersion is much improved. Feels very stable but still has a good feel to it, especially in the tip section.

26 putts.
Tale of 2 nines. Only hit 2 greens on front, but short game bailed me out, that and 11 putts. Back nine was better. Overall not the greatest ball striking round but nice to hit it a little squirrelly and still post a good number.

Played a few times. Played like garbage last week in our match, but wouldn't have mattered. Played a 25 handicap from the FORWARD tees who had an easy 45. Not be outdown, this week played another guy from the forward tees who shot 48 but had an 8 and a 6. Basically, they are shooting what 5-6 below handicap. At best I was 2-3 strokes under handicap due to getting par on par 3''s, one was matched by my player.

I'm playing today and seems like I was really on one last time out. WE'll see if that carries over.

I do practice when I can, usually in the evenings in the yard after work.  I don't get around to playing as often as I would like, but my work group has a weekly scramble I almost always play in.  There is a nice little 9-hole pitch-n-putt not too far from where I live that is great for iron and wedge practice, and plenty of water hazards for added interest.  If it wasn't for this annoying thing called work I might really be able to get good. 😄

Lowest my handicap has been at 11.9 after starting the season at 14.3 so really pleased with how its going and feeling like making good strides all the time.

Hoping for good weather before going into the winter see if i can get my handicap down some more.

Yes sir.  About a 5 minute drive from work so it's great for an evening range session or to squeeze in a quick 9.

I've played a bunch at Trosper - that course has a lot of sentimental appeal for me. Before I lived in Oklahoma, that's where I played most of my golf when I would visit. Great memories there. I have only played once this year but when I went in Mike recognized me like I had been in just last week 🙂 I play most of my golf at Lincoln now but Trosper is in good shape it is great.

That's cool that he recognized you.  I don't know any of the guy's names but there is one guy who works in the clubhouse that's really nice, and another who seems like he's just there for the paycheck.  It is a very good course, and not too difficult for a newbie to get into the game.  It does seem to be in great shape this year too.  Seems like last summer there was a lot of crabgrass growing on the greens, this year the whole course looks good.  That's Trosper's signature 18th hole in my profile pic.

We should play sometime - I live in Moore of 19th Street so I'm close to Trosper.

Played Lincoln East today - I hit the ball so well but didn't make many putts. I had 4 putts inside 15 ft on the front and didn't make a single one. Ended up with a 67 but Course Rating is only 67.7 so there's that. It's the most putts I've taken this year but I was actually stroking it really well just burned a lot of edges with easy 2 putts. 1 Bogey and 4 Birdies. Was a perfect day - only 91 degrees.

67
FIR 12/14
GIR 17/18
Putts 33

Worse ball striking in a few weeks but still managed to find a way to a +8. Easiy could had been an 85 or more but got up/down75% or so.  Utilized an assortment of clubs to get out of trouble thanks to nit finding fairways. No doubles which is always a win.

League night was fun:

Somehow managed a 42 with 3 double bogeys. Previously this season, if I had any double bogeys, I would have imploded the rest of the round. I'm happy that I have done a better job the last two rounds of just moving on to the next hole and not letting the previous hole impact the way I play the next hole
