So true,

I missed 5 days in a row and dreaded what was going to happen, and then shot 3 days in a row great.

other times, I’ll play 7 days in a row, and the 6th and 7th day can be horrid. It’s why I always say....   “this game!”!!!

Played in the second round of our Ryder Cup today in a pairing against our head pro. Played the front 9 in -3 thanks to two chip in eagles on par 5s. Threw in a few more birds on the back 9 to finish with even par on the back and 68 overall. Lost on 18 to a nice bird by our pro and l tugged my attempt from 12 feet to halve the match.

I played in an outing yesterday. We sucked!...lol. It's still hard for me to believe that between the four of us.... all decent players, that we could only muster a +1 round. I think all four of us picked the same day to forget how to play...lol.

On another note.... the outing was held at Wilkshire. I know a few of you Ohio guys have played there. It's in rough shape. It was almost completely under water this Spring . There is still one hole closed down. It's a shame, because it is a beautiful golf course.

So two rounds in Kohler this week as part of the Team Titleist invitational. (pics can be found in a seperate thread....See them here )

Had to play both courses at the designated tees, Blackwolf Run Rivet at about 6500 and Whistling Straits Straits course at 6450.  Both about 300 to 400 yards further than I normally play. 

River Course-Drove the ball well---with the exception of the first Hole-In-One had to rely on a lot of FW and Hybrids into greens.   And to make it worst.  I didn't make a single putt all day long outside 2 feet.   Result was a 103 

Straits- was a bit off on the tee that round.  Not off enough that I got into all the fescue and waste areas.  Just off in not solid contact and shorter than normal drives.  Combine that with the longer tees and well.  Thank to a very good wedge game this round I walked off with 98.  Nit sure I've ever been happier with a 98.  Putter was again perplexed by the greens.   Otherwise it really could easily have been a 92 or better.

But it was all smiles after both rounds.

Well played yesterday and had a WTF, round went out in 50 and had several holes where the ball barely went 100 yds off the tee... WTF. Mind you I shot an 80 here two weeks ago.. also had a 500 yds par 5 that took 5 to get on... shoot me now.. I started having beer by the 4th hole and I might have 1 at the turn of the end is all.. SWMBO birdies 9, omg I can't hit the ball and she's making birdies.. make the turn I birdies 10, bogie 11 par 12. I'm 4 over when we get to 18 just birdied 17 when I crap the bed again.. par 3 over a gully and take a 7.. I shoot a 92 back 9 was good less 1 hole but I have not played that bad in a while..

Rough morning. Started so promising - just light enough to see at 7 AM, and I smash my opening drive 253 yards right in the middle of the fairway. Back-to-back pars to open the round. Then I get to No. 3 and pull my drive OB left and hit my provisional left behind a tree leading to a triple bogey, and that's pretty much indicative of how the rest of my round went.

Sad thing is I struck the ball better than I have in a long time today. But lost a lot of drives right, and despite feeling like I struck the ball really well, GAME Golf and my eyes tell me I did not bring much distance with the irons this morning. Came up about a club short all day, except when I tried to play for that and hit a club too much. That's golf!

Played most of the round in a light sprinkle, thankfully it didn't progress to full rain at any point or else it would have been pretty miserable.

Even par today with 4 birds in just absolutely miserable wind. Had the low gross round today in the member’s shotgun by 6 shots when I left for the beach club.

As a plus one of my birds was on 16 which was the last hole I needed for the season long ringer tournament. My total stands at -20 and leading by 3 with one day to go.

Took one step back vs my recent golfing progress...

@chisag said it more eloquently than I could, when he said: "Regardless of our level of play, struggling and not being able to hit shots you normally hit is very frustrating."

After the very first - good - tee shot everything else after seemed to be a "one of those days" struggle. Especially considering I was on a short, easy 9 hole course on a warm, clear, calm day...

I know I can't achieve, and do not "expect", a linear positive progression but I had a really .. I have to say it .. bad.. ball-striking day...

Got back on track halfway through #7 to save bogey and parred the last two. At least my putting - well for 8/9 holes - was decent.

Back to practicing and preparing for next time!

Gutted! lost my semi final of the Club singles today after cruising along playing nicely. 3 up after 9 then just gave away 5 holes with loose approaches. I had the game 'won' in my head after 9! schoolboy error.

Looks like I dont have that killer instinct. I hate this game

 

I think I played trying 'not to lose' instead of 'trying to win'.

84 (41/43), had a triple (third round in-a-row), and a double. Just not hitting fairways. Ugh. Trending to 7.4 GHIN. That’s 1.5 strokes higher than a month ago. Not many rounds in the 70s lately!

i know your pain.  Feel like I am hitting the ball well, but having doubles and triples creep in here and there to basically ruin a round.  Today I found a lot of fairway bunkers and couldn't seem to hit ball first.

44/49 yesterday for a 93
Hit 4 fairways and 3 greens in regulation
34 putts!

Started out great on the front nine and played really well up until the 10th, where I carded a quadruple bogey after an errant tee shot. The surprising thing was my putting, usually a weakness, has become a strength. Arccos had my handicap for the round at 0.9, which is the worst of the last three rounds I've played.

91 (89 ESC, 45/46), 43% FIR, 22% GIR and 32 putts at Waikele Country Club. Another disappointing round that had a few bright spots as usual. Just have to focus on minimizing the mistakes and these scores should start dropping.

That is a shame. I've played Zoar but not Wilkshire, years ago. When we played, it poured right when we finished, really hard and heavy rain and the green that we saw from the road as we went past was already a pond.

We didn't get a one. Weather got us on the back 9. It started to cloud over and rumble then sprinkle. On the par 3 17th it started to rain and then stopped when we got to the tee at 18. We finished and the heavens opened up which led to a scramble for the car park.

I was so disappointed in the course because I was told that it was a great course a couple of years ago. We let a twosome through and they told @MaxEntropy and Mike that it was rated at 4.5 stars but was sold about 2 years ago and went straight down the gurgler. The greens were super quick because they were about half bare patches and the fairways weren't much better on a number of holes.

I think I apologised to the guys at least twice during the round. Oh and the 10th hole...what a doozy! Off the tee there's a window about 20 yards wide that you have to hit through...yeah ok.

Guess it's going to get worse before it gets better.

Most disappointed I let a single shot ruin the entire round again today. Two days in a row, really. I had been doing so well in not getting upset during rounds, not sure why it's been a struggle again the past two days.

Similar story to yesterday, good opening par, OK bogey at No. 2 (just missed my par putt), hit a drive left under a tree on No. 3. Rough was so thick and wet with dew this morning my punch shot back to the fairway barely went anywhere, then out of no where I snap-hooked a six iron out of bounds, drop and then proceed to hit another snap-hook that almost goes OB. Ended up with a quadruple bogey nine for the hole.

Because I let that get to me, I ended up following that with two straight doubles and a bogey before I finally told myself to just get over it.

Went out mid-morning yesterday to hit a medium bucket before the heat settled in, and wound up going out to play. I was supposed to be grouped in with a 3-some, but they no-showed and they let me go out alone. Fine, good practice time. Sputtered quite a bit on the front, but then played bogie golf on the back. Made 3 pars the whole round, all on par-3's including my "nemesis" hole at #4. I give myself an "OK" for the day.

Edit: Forgot to mention that I literally played until my hands bled. Had to ask a marshal for some Band-Aids to cover the blisters I made on both my index and ring fingers on my right hand at hole #12. He didn't have any but zipped to the clubhouse and came all the way back out to meet me at #13 with them. Left him a tip with the staff after the round.

Played Saturday and played horrendously. Before that had two rounds where I would have broken 90 or given it a good run. This time around wasn't even close. I've realized that par 3's are killing me. I went triple (water), double, bogey, double. It's like I can't hit a green to save my life on par 3's and then can't get up and down. The rest of the nine wasn't banner, but at least I had some glimpses. 

Ended with a 47-49 for 96 easily over my handicap.

Hmmm. Looks to me like you should only play golf on the weekends.
