Popular Post MomoMan83
This past Thursday's 9-hole co-worker scramble ended up being the best ball striking of my young golfing life. After constantly struggling for consistency with the traditional two-plane swing, the Moe Norman approach seems to be working for me, at least as much of it as I have been able to figure out so far. I had back to back 200+ yard drives that went dead straight middle of the fairway, was shooting lasers from the fairway with my 7 wood that were coming up just a few yards short of the green, and hit some nice chip and pitch shots. Unfortunately putting wasn't that great. Where normally I only have 1 or two playable shots per round, I had several this time. Keep in mind all the people I play with have been playing far longer, some all their lives, and are much better players. After nearly three seasons playing in these scrambles it's a great feeling to finally be able to contribute consistently to the team. fozcycle, edingc, sirchunksalot and 8 others 9 2 Quote Driver: King F9 10.5* Helium Shaft Woods: R580 5W, 7W Hybrids: Nicklaus Dual Point 4H Irons: F9 Speedback One Length 6i - PW Wedges: 588 RTX 2.0 48*, 52*, 58* Putter: Impact 3 Bag: Grom 14-way stand bag Ball: GolfJet Jet 4 Rangefinder: NX7 Pro or ShotScope V2
Popular Post CarlH
We had our member-member tourney today....27 holes (our club has 27 holes, so we played each 9). 9 holes of best ball, 9 chapman, 9 scramble. My partner and I finished 4 strokes out of the lead in the senior division with a 108 gross score (1 over par). Our biggest struggle was, believe it or not, the scramble. We walked away with 3rd net for our division. Had a great time. edingc
- 44/43 = 87 (+15) - 8/15 FIR - 4/18 GIR (1 birdie) - 35 Putts (2 3-putts, 13 2-putts, 3 1-putts) Driver was miserable this morning, but today's blow up hole was a triple bogey on a par 3 thanks to blading one out of the greenside bunker over the green and behind a tree. Had one "perfect" hole, No. 10. 255-yard driver in the middle, wedge to five feet, center cup on a rather slippery little putt. Trying to believe Rotella in that holes like that are not just anomalies but rather a golfers true potential. Hit some great shots again this morning, especially with irons and wedges, but I just can't get things to be consistent. One round I'll drive the ball well (like last weekend) and cost myself shots with a poor short game, and then this weekend I drive the ball terribly but excel with my wedges. cksurfdude, sirchunksalot, Rickp and 4 others 7 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. MattF
Played in our annual family scramble today. Had a good driver day and hit some other good shots and talked some . @MaxEntropy got the closest to on the #3 par 3 and his mate Mike got the closest to on the #6 par 3, so they both got their entry fee back. CarlH
Struggled a bit today playing back one set of tees from where I prefer to play. I don't normally loose golf balls, but today I put 3 in the water on 3 different holes. cksurfdude
Ohh man soooo close.... Started off calm and relaxed, and was only +2 thru 5 (FIVE!) holes. Maybe I started thinking about the "What If?" scenario and/or maybe it was the roadblock ahead we ran into, but .. lost my rhythm and went double-triple-triple the next three holes ....... My goal today was to work towards an error free round but after a two-chip followed by a splash on each of the next two holes after that .. owwch! .. that new PB fantasy was shattered! On the plus side, felt like I had most (not all, but most) of the tee shots under control; regained some confidence in chipping; and had several putts that shudda-cudda-wudda dropped in one. Also had a decent bunker 1-out and juuuust missed the comeback putt. Finished that last hole with a bogey which was actually a good save from where I hacked the tee shot to; for a +11 (or +2 over bogey golf). Kenny B
Shot 86. Didn't play well at all today. My right hand is sore and couldn't put any power on my swings, not that I have a lot anyway, but less than usual means I need more up and downs. I couldn't do that either, since the greens are still recovering from aerating early in the week I got lucky on #12 a par 3 playing 150y into a 15mph breeze. Shot has to clear a bunker... mine didn't, leaving my ball a foot from the lip. With no followthrough, I hit a little too much sand. The ball popped out but landed in the rough on an upslope short of the green. Since the ball was on the upslope, my 3rd shot went fairly high, bounced once and slam-dunked into the cup... one of my few pars. Won 4 and 3 in alternate shot, 1/2'd the 4-somes match, and then won singles 2 and 1. Saturday's rounds I hit the ball pretty solidly all day, and my partner was able to bail me out when I got wild. Popular Post Rickp
There are times when this game doesn’t make sense. Front 9 1.45 hours of hell, could not hit anything started with 2 doubles and got worse, drowned 4 balls (tin cup moments) and I don’t loose many balls. At the turn changed driver setting from 10.5D to 11.5 more out of frustration than anything else and the Heavens Opened, drove it down the middle and as long as the Big Boys . The back 9 continued to drive it well, irons got in on the act and all was good in Ricky land. fixyurdivot
Played Bill Roberts GC in Helena yesterday for the first time. I got paired with 3 ladies who play there a couple of times/week. They were all good players and pretty much dead straight down the middle. I wore myself out repeating "nice shot". It was great having three caddies explaining the course to me as we went along. At one hole, two got into a minor dispute as to whether I should lay-up or cut a corner over the tree line . I chose the latter, made it, and they were thrilled. It's a nice course and very well maintained. The front 9 is the newer layout and it is quite a bit more challenging. Three of the holes have double dog legs and present a bit of a quandary off the tee. I was hitting the G410P really well and opted to go for every challenge. The back 9 is the original course, has considerably less slope, and more open off the tee box. My score reflected the difference. I ended up with a 44/39 (-1 thru #15). Upon reaching the tee box after getting a birdie on #12, they had 4 cups out and a flask of Bailey's Irish Cream... apparently this drinking game is catching on beyond Yuma . fozcycle, MattF, Kenny B and 4 others 7 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review) AI-One Milled Seven T CH (Currently Under Product Test)

Played ok, hit a few good very good shots and some very dumb ones. Best was a 4 iron from 225 on a par 3 to a tucked pin - settled around 15 feet aaaaaaand missed the putt. AND my nemesis hole - the one that the best I've ever done is a bogie. I parred that hole THE SPELL is broken! AND I booked a 41 - best I've ever done on the front! Actually I was so energized with the 41, I secretly wanted to play the back - but knew we'd run out of daylight and she wouldn't be able to finish 18. ....as the saying goes "happy wife......" BTW she played the front and back well. MaxEntropy
Started with a triple on the first hole of league tonight, but fortunately, that was the only trouble that started with a bad drive. I hit 4 of 5 of the remaining fairways and ended up +2 over the remaining 8 holes with 13 putts total. Irons weren't terribly sharp, but everything else was in pretty good shape. Popular Post ncwoz
Got to play @edingc's home course, Western Greens, hauled booty out of work and got in 18! Solid course, especially on the cheap. 47, 42: 89. 36% FIR, 39% GIR, 38 putts. Front 9 was pretty shaky. Most of it boiled down to just not being comfortable with the new putter (more to come soon ), but had 4 holes where I 3-putted. Bunch of absolute bunnies I just whiffed. Settled in on the back, especially with the putter. Only had 17 putts on the back. Ball striking felt really good. Felt like I was actually seeing the improvements from the range translate over to the course which was great. I feel like I'm primed for a good round, hopefully I'll be reporting back here soon with confetti and balloons! Glad you got a chance to play. Not the nicest course around us, but a decent value considering. Greens play tough, there's a ton of subtle undulations from over the years that are tricky. I still have at least one putt a round that doesn't do anything like I'd expect. cksurfdude, CarlH, tony@CIC and 2 others 5 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B.
