Another decent league night, could have been even better. I was +2 when we stepped to the 8th tee and ended up +6 with 14 putts. Arccos tells me my putting and chipping were very good, approach shots decent, but tonight the tee balls were the struggle. I didn't feel like it was that bad, but the numbers don't lie, I suppose.

First reasonable full round this year. Started poorly, 7 over through 6 despite putting well. Things improved dramatically from there, 2 over for the last 12 holes. Putting was excellent, holed 2 from outside 20 feet, shortest putt I missed was outside 12 feet. Nearly every putt I holed was dead centre. Drove it ok, irons improved as the round went along.

Not really sure if I've turned the corner, but at least I can see it now.

I went on a golf trip this past weekend and we played 91 holes. It was an absolute blast!

The weather was not ideal as the sun barely made any appearances from behind the gray clouds, but it did not dampen our spirits.

I was just happy to have survived in one piece and was playing as good of golf on the first 18 as the last 18. These were all new courses to me, and I was able to break 90 in the two individual rounds. There were plenty of scrambles and shambles as well to allow us to stay relatively intact.

We are done, officially, but we continue to play for skins, etc. until the time change. It is starting to get relatively dark by the time we finish, so I have my doubts that we'll actually make it another month, but we'll try.

Another frustrating 95 yesterday. We had to start on the back because of an event - booked a 45 so I thought I stood a chance of breaking 90. Cra**py front included a triple on a Par 3 and Par 4 that cost me. Ended up with a 50 on the front. The tale of 2 nines 😡

Weather this week looks good til Friday , then a major cool down. Index is at 21.1 and pushing hard  to get it below 20 before the season ends here.

Let's go Tony... we're all counting on you!!  😀

Shot a 45/36 net tonight in the final night of men's league play.  Lost a scorecard tiebreaker for net for the 2nd week in a row.    The round was undone by an ugly triple bogey on the no1 handicap hole which is what cost me in the tiebreaker.

Drove the ball well, very solid iron play and putted well.  Some loose wedge play cost me a few shots.

That is a bad break. For the final night of the league it would have been nice to have a sudden death playoff or something. I am not a big fan of scorecard playoffs.

We wouldn’t be able to get a playoff in as we finished the regulation 9 just about in the dark.

Was really hard hitting a real bad shot with his clubs

Golf is a *HARD* game! Take advantage of all of the choices in gear available, and play with clubs that are easy for you to hit the ball to where you want to and give you confidence.

Oh, PS: try a good fitting, or demo at a big box store if you can, different shaft flexes and different weights. It's possible, for example, that the same for shaft you're using now but in a lighter weight might be suitable; or, as another example, a softer flex .. eg. Men's Senior .. but in a heavier shaft.

I recently tried a hybrid with a Senior shaft, vs the Regular I normally use, and while it gave me the height and spin I was looking for,I also felt like .. for me .. the face was deflecting open on impact.

So I wake up and roll on over to Wailea Gold and Emerald courses, about 2 minutes from my hotel, the Grand Wailea of course.

I first waited a few minutes for my rental clubs from “Jimmys club rentals” to show up. That set was a driver ,3 and 5 wood in TaylorMade M2’s, a 3-pw set of Mizuno MP100 irons (fancy mp 33’s), a few TM mill grind wedges (which I fell in love with) and an old Ping anser putter. $35 a day rental (delivered) and the clubs were in very nice condition, and swung very closely to my mp5’s. What’s not to like about that?

so anyways, hit a small bucket on the range, although directly into the sun, and was ready to go. The Gold course was a bit harder, lots more sand, and the first day with the rental clubs, (excuses I know) but I didn’t score as well, and then day two was just a dream at Emerald. The pictures just don’t do it justice, but hopefully you get the gist of it all.  No use posting a million shots, as it’s repetitive really. Everywhere you turned, it was just plain beautiful, and it seems the ocean was always in view.

so without boring you to death, here’s a few pics of what it was like... enjoy!DC37E6CD-41CB-4E84-B8F2-BF22D5C53915.thumb.jpeg.874968f8c2f9487f9da26b3c459695ac.jpegB8A8ECCD-3C66-4825-8F05-9675247A7BBF.thumb.jpeg.da416dda7cad24fc1c39bc6b5a6a195c.jpeg4B9EE118-E008-4C1B-AD54-1DDEAFA7F490.thumb.jpeg.51ebb98ebb2d5241e53e362224acd2ec.jpeg6829A323-98D7-4A80-88CD-DF4B7F7C9170.thumb.jpeg.8cb9d3f3fd6a2eccbca9a5a67ae76413.jpeg09FA0DB3-AFEC-49F7-95E3-78626589DE25.thumb.jpeg.0cbadb60a7394fc265e443da9db858cd.jpeg

Played 3 days in a row, a new "record" for me, and yes .. my middle back (not lower, interestingly) is now paying the price! But it was fun; wife and I were away for a long weekend and played a short muni 9-hole the first two days and then a regulation 18 (Senior tees for me).

Each day my tee shots were getting better and better, which is a huge improvement from the start of the season where I was all over the place. No, not every tee shot this weekend was great but most were good and the misses were playable; except for one should not have been lost ball .. just nowhere to be found...!

The downside of the first two short course days, though, is that too often I totally mis-hit the second shot .. short iron and wedge technique just plumb evaded me.

The 18 hole day started out very promising - good tee shot into the middle, second shot was solid and to where I was aiming, third hit the green (yea!) slightly left and deep of the middle pin; get up there to see my ball lying through the green about 5 feet off. Hit a soft chip just onto the green to where I'd intended .. only to watch the ball roll past the hole and roll and roll all the way to the far side of the green. Didn't sink the comeback putt so an outside chance birdie turned into a bogey.

What we realized by the second hole was that the greens were not just fast .. they were actually dried out and very firm; many even had brown and bare patches. As we went around I noticed a distinct lack any any pitch marks, too. Hmmm. On the flip side, a number of the fairways were also dry so a lot of our tee shots got a lot of extra bounce and roll!

So despite some good ball striking and a few decent approaches, chipping and putting on those greens was more than, ummmm, "challenging". Had my first in i-dunno-how-long FOUR-putt and then FOUR 3-putts on the Back 9. Ouch! Ended up with way too many doubles and a few "others", but managed to scratch out three pars and even a birdie on a Par 3.

Friday afternoon 9 at Navy Marine Golf Course. 41, 29% FIR emoji34.png, 67% GIR emoji846.png and 19 putts 🤬 including three 3 jacks. Finishing with a birdie was nice though and I did hit some decent shots. On to the next round!

Also a 41

2/7 fir

4/9 gir

17 putts

Two costly doubles. Ironically, made the longest out of the 4 birdie putts I saw today and missed the other three.

Not very well, ball striking betrayed me, but I made some good up and downs and started to exorcise some putting demons. There were some positives to take away from today I guess.

Not very well yesterday - too embarrassed to tell you the final tally. Went from wearing shorts and polo to yesterday 3 layers, long pants and was still cold. Should be warmer this weekend into Monday so hoping i can quickly recover otherwise my Index is going to take a beating.
