Walked a  late 9 tonight in 55 degrees and sun.1st round in a week and not a ton a play this fall so little tougher to loosen up as it gets colder.

Very slow start and actually topped a ball on #2.  Water ball on # 5.  Found a tempo and a groove and played 1 over last 4 holes with legit birdie attempts on 6, 8, and 9.

Nice 9 wirh another twilight member who enjoys some banter and the game as much as I do.

Walked a brisk 9 this evening. Didnt keep score but would guess 3 or 4 over. Irons were good and wedge play was really good but just couldnt make a putt. Have the grip off my gamer so I grabbed n old Acushnet from the pile in the basement and gamed that for the night.

I stunk today!  Burned so many edges that I lost count.  Couple of bad bounces led to trouble on a few holes.  Just one of those meh days on the links.  Shot a lackluster 85 as I just couldn't make a putt or turn things around.

Played 9 tonight with an older gentlemen thst plays ted tees. I went ahead and played reds with him to speed things up since time is an issue in the evening. The red box brought is hazards or obstacles thare usually never an issue for me and I found it more challenging at times.

Struck the ball well and througly enjoyed the 55 degree fall day.

I took my regressing golf game to Ak-Chin Southern Dunes today.

92 (51/41), 64% FIR, 17% GIR and 29 putts.

Far to many penalties and other nonsense on the front, but I got my act together on the back aside from two holes. I enjoyed the course even though it was overseeded, and I suppose that’s all that matters.

Good 9 today minus my putting. Ended up +3 with 2 birdies and then doubled 9. Wedge play  was real good. Hit the stick on 1 and stuck it to.a foot on 8. Both birdies. The bad was I missed several short par putts.

Friday “Bacon Boys” Exec 9. I hit the ball either very bad or really good. Course was playing long so was hitting mostly 5-7 irons. The 7 iron was the hot club today.
The Boys didn’t disappoint, no Oatmeal in their breakfast plans! Plenty of Bacon, yep, me too

Palm Valley North/South 18 holes Red Tees 65.0/105. 5400 yards.

The very best I have ever played any variation of the course. Wonderful weather and good pace of play, we zipped along quite well.

Score: 88 with 30 putts, 6 Pars, 8 Bogies, 4 Doubles, 6 Penalties, 2 sand saves, with 11% GIR and 79% FIR.

I put most of the of the gain in accuracy on the improved strikes with the Ping G410+ and some serious work with accuracy with my irons.

Allowing for handicap, I hit a 73 and came in 3rd.  First time with these guys; they are acquaintances from the range. While I was happy with straight 220-225 yard drives, these guys hit well over 260.

Best 2 shots got me on to the green for a possible birdie on a par five, missed the first slightly right and included some invectives; sank the sphere on a hole I have been known to get an 8 on.

I have things to gwt done, but the weather for Nov.has been so nuce I cant pass it up.

Played 13 holes. Thw front I played to a +3. Not sure what was going on but I wasnt striking my irons real well the first 4 or 5 holes. Just missing it and  it cost me yardage. Not sure if it alignment, grip, or ball placement. I reset myself and all was well.

The back 4 holes I played to -1. I planned on 18 but caught up to a few groups so called it a night.

Been pleased with my game this fall as of late.

Yesterday, I struggled.  Shot an 84, but it felt more like a 94.  I was flat awful with my wedge and I missed so many short putts  that I would normally make.  Couple that with pulled short iron shots that I kept hitting and it made for a long day.  Hopefully, I'll get back on track today.  Best shot of the day was 142 yard 8 iron that hit 3 inches to the right of the hole and spun a bit left to end up 1 inch below the hole....THAT putt I made!!!  🙂

Well, the putter continued to just miss the cup and my chipping is still a weakness that I need to work on.  Iron play was better today than yesterday.  I carded an 81.

One of my most solid rounds of the year. Missed fairways were by about 2 yards, all of them. Missed greens were left in great positions except 1 and I hit great flop to 2 feet. Played par 4’s in 3 under, par 5’s in 2 under. My 2 bogeys were on holes I normally bogey. 205 yard par 3 that has a green sloped like a mountain and 221 yard par 3 that I missed 8 footer on. Overall extremely pleased.

Played 9 after work. This is 6 or 7 straight and not my best round. 6 over wirh all pars and bogeys. Didnt find many greens or fairways and couldnt make short par putts.

Caught a 4some in carts on #7 green. I waited until they all cleared, moved to #8 box, and then hit to the 150 yard par 3.  I walked up, chipped up, and made par putt before all 4 teed off. I stood back while the 3rd and 4th hit.The last to hit asked if I wanted to play through and I said "if you keep moving Im good". He asked while the other cart was 40 yards out already.

I should have played through. 40 minutes later (at least) I finished in the dark. Worst 4some Ive been behind in a life time of golf. They had to have been on that 9 for 3 hours at least.

Once again tee shot and short game were good.   Short game seems to be improving as time goes by; feel for distance is improving.   Lag putting was pretty good, but struggled in the 6-8 foot range. Greens were aerated, but I should have been better.   NEed to get back to work on some indoor practice.   Iron play was slightly better but really needs some work;  may need to build a full bag  of hybrids and I seem to hit them great.

Played after church and a meeting today - got 13 holes in - was 3 over.

Liked Across - very easy to use - haven’t really reviewed the data from the partial round yet. My approach shots were great all day - 27 feet in fact.

80 today -- no fanfare --- just 8 bogeys and the rest pars.  Missed a couple of putts that made the difference between shooting 80 and in the 70s.  Posted the score and it knocked a 74 off the group, so my handicap jumped up a stroke -- which is a good thing as we'll be freezing handicaps at the end of the month until March.

Not sure what the heck I was thinking as I havent posted all month. Had it stuck in my mind end of October.

@pulledabill Well, we're playing winter rules and, in my opinion, if you're bumping the ball, you shouldn't post .... but I'm playing games with others doing it, so I'm not going to handicap myself by playing it down.

New handicap system goes into effect Jan 1 ... wondering what the OGA is going to do.  Previously, they used to keep 2 lowest tournament scores for a year (assuming lower than the other 10).  With new rules being worldwide, guess that's got to change.  You hear anything on that with OGA?

I have not seen or heard anything.  I work about a half mile from OGA Headquarters.  I will stop in tomorrow and see if they have anything on it.

If the course uses local rule for preferred lies you should post. Our course plays winter rules all winter. But like you if everyone is doing it I am going to do it also.

Within each section, all defined terms are in italics and are listed alphabetically in Section 2 - Definitions.

7-1. Acceptability of Scores When Playing Preferred Lies

Scores made when a Local Rule for preferred lies (winter rules,) is in effect must be posted for handicap purposes unless the Committee (preferably the Handicap Committee in consultation with the Committee in charge of the course) determines that course conditions are so poor that such scores are not acceptable and should not be posted. Individual players playing the course do not independently decide whether scores are acceptable because of the conditions. If an individual decides to apply some form of this Local Rule, and the Committee has not invoked such a rule, the player's score is acceptable and must be posted for handicap purposes.
