First cold golf day, and after a couple days of rain. Course was playing long not to mention not being able to swing with extra layers on. Hopefully rain stays away this weekend although we do need it...

Where are you in Cali Zipr?

im in Ventura co, and we got a lot of rain, it’s raining now, and it supposed to rain next week too! And it’s cold too! I’m getting old cuz this weather is bothering me a lot more than it used to... and me trying to swing in extra layers was really funny, cuz now they’re all tight cuz I’m fatter now...

I might as well start knitting or something...

Hit it much better than score shows. Couldn’t make a putt and hit a punch 5 iron from 118 from the trees that landed on the green a bounced 30 yards OB. Such is golf sometimes.

90 (ESC 89) 45/45, 36% FIR, 28% GIR and 33 putts. The silver lining is definitely the Hawaii weather in December, but I’m disappointed with this round.

... "Perspective" as Anton Ego ordered in Ratatouille. Your Silver Lining would be the main course for many of us. Back spasms the last 10 days and I am in PT for the next month and there is snow on the ground. I would be ecstatic shooting a 90 in sunny, warm Hawaii with a back that would let me hit a whopping slice into the ocean.

Ugh, take care of yourself Boss. We need you out there

The 20+ MPH gusts didn't help us, but I don't think I would've hit any more fairways or greens if they were 0 MPH. Not sure what happened to Flash, but I'm about to change the "F" to a "TR" on the sole of the driver to better-represent my tee game at the moment.

Down south for the week and got in a round today at Disney’s Palm with my son. Shot an even par 72 with one over in the front and one under on the back. For not playing in a few weeks it was a pretty solid round and I didn’t do anything dumb. Linking the graphite design shafts I put into the top of the bag. The AD GT in the TS2 three wood is so far the star of the show. Hit it well off the tee and even better off the deck.

First round in a week or more. Shot an 80 which I was satisfied with consider it was inte low to mid 40s, no roll, and lots of long clubs in to par 4s.  Also playing sround some more with a low bounce 60 degree wedge. It helped and hurt today. I did plan to take my drive today to mabe shorten things up, but I forgot to throw it in.

Played yesterday afternoon in rather chilly weather for most of the round...but the chill wasn't the reason that I played so poorly.  It was a disaster.  Ball striking was really bad today for whatever reason.  As normal, I struggled with my driver off the tee, but it was the iron play that devastated me.  Normally, my game can recover from mediocre driving, but yesterday, it just wasn't there.  My putting was the only part of my game that I felt came to play.  Started off with an opening OB triple bogey on the par 5, followed up by a brain dead double.  So, it wasn't my best start.  Parred number 3, which is our hardest hole according to the handicap rating and I'm thinking "okay, you've got this...you can still salvage a decent round".....nope!  I mean, when you make the turn and you've already shot your handicap, you know things aren't going your way.  And, it didn't improve any on the back, despite a birdie on #16 .... 91 for the round....thankfully (or maybe not), our posting season is closed.

It was beautiful today - nearly 70 and I played for the first time in almost two weeks. My back has been really bad but I felt great today. I had no idea what to expect but I hit the ball quite well and I was able to put together a good round. I was striking the ball really well right off the bat but I wasn't making many putts on the front. On the back nine I got tired and wasn't hitting quite as well but I made more putts. Best shot of the day was 2 Crossover. Par 3 9th hole - 197 but was into the wind and playing 217. It's hard to see in the picture but the ball is 3 paces behind the flag and the pitch mark is pin-high right about four feet. So happy with that shot.

IMG_4609.jpg

The other shot that made me happy was from the middle of the fairway on the 11th. I had just over 100 yards and I hit a little knockdown PW. It was playing into the breeze and it came off just as I pictured it (the Blueprint irons are amazing!). The pitch mark is just past the hole.

IMG_4610.jpg

Unfortunately, I missed both putts

I've also played the Titleist EXP balls the last two rounds and I like them. I will be interested to see what they become in terms of marketing.

Same 9 I shot 2 over on last week, I shot a 5 over with 2 3-putts.

Last week, I would've missed the ocean if I was teeing off from the beach. This week I hit all but one fairway (tried to cut the corner with a 5W but didn't quite carry it, so driver was flawless) but nothing else was working. What a crazy, dumb game!

Absolutely terrible day. I think I pulled a @Shankster and quit for 20 minutes after I left the course. By the time I got back home, I was already analyzing what went wrong to prepare for my next “adventure”. After extensive analysis, I realized that hitting 4 inches behind the ball was not producing optimal results. The cause of this ineptitude is pending investigation....

Been sucking lately with rounds at 88, 89, 92, etc. so I reached back into my closet and pulled out: Wilson Triton Driver, PowerBilt Air Force One 3W, 5W, 3H & 4-PW, AW & SW. The only club I did not change was my Evnroll ER-6 putter. Shot 86 on Tuesday then shot 40/41:81 today. Guess I’ll be gaming the Wilson and PowerBilt this weekend!

Funny you should mention this. I was having some problems with G410 driver (height/distance) and took out F8 driver and grit was good distance 10 yards more. Dunno what’s going on.

Funny you should mention this. I was having some problems with G410 driver (height/distance) and took out F8 driver and grit was good distance 10 yards more. Dunno what’s going on.

Played Magnolia today with my son in what will be my last round of the year. Shot an even par 72 from the back tees and it was an up and down day. I shot even par on the front and didn’t make a par until the 9th hole...four birds and four bogies on the first 8 holes in alternating order (not sure I have ever done that). Then for good measure I finished the round with 10 straight pars for what was a good way to end the year. Overall the swing is there, ball flight is where I want it to be and working the ball both ways. My goal over the winter is to work on the putting and getting more comfortable with left hand low. Other than that the gear is dialed in and ready for the spring.

Going to change hosel setting next time out. I took the F8 out after a couple of mediocre G410 outings and I was hitting drives as long as 2-3 years ago.

It was the best of times.
It was the worst of times.

Today was the end of year dogfight. They double cut and double rolled the greens and tucked the pins where no mere mortal would dare aim at. I mean, these greens normally run 11 on the stimp. But today was another level of fast.

By the fourth hole I had learned my lesson and stopped aiming at flags. It didn’t seem to matter. I played safe and left my approach shot short of the green. Chipped on 10 ft past the hole and blew the first putt 7 ft by the hole, missed the comebacker and walked off with double bogey.

The highlight of the day was the 7th hole, a driveable par 4. They had a closest to the pin on your 2nd shot for $50. I left my drive in front of the greenside front bunker and looked at the pin location and my 30 yard chip and had no idea where to hit the ball without it going off the front of the green with it’s false front. So I hit my chip 10 feet right of the pin and just past it, just far enough to avoid the false front. The ball ended up 6 ft 4 inches below the hole. Of course I missed the putt, but my shot held up to collect the closest to the pin prize.

Good times!

Walked 9 after work tonight finishing right at dark. Shot a 41 with a bird and left a 10 footer on the course.  Happy with the round in 50 degrees, fog, and soggy fairways.  The 5 par 4s left me a 5i, 6i. 4h, and a wedge on a short dog leg which I birdied. Nice night on am empty course.
