37/43 at Coyote Wash today.  Blustery winds that seemed to come from everywhere.  It was challenging to figure out the wind.  My back nine had three peek-a-boo birdies... ohhh, what could have been 😐.

Walked 9 in clear 50 degree and dropping temp. Played with a driver I cut down. Dispersion wasmuch better than expected and distance outcome is unknown due to not hitting before cut as of late, colder temp, and no roll.

Didnt score it but Id guess maybe 40 or 41. Iron play started strong but dwindled midway until I said "stand strong and hit the #^%# ball".

Yup.  Most of mine involve an OB off the tee and a less than stellar 3rd shot from the tee.  The course we play on Saturday's is in a housing subdivision and has trouble on lots of holes... on both sides and even behind some greens 😱

Mine similar, long Par 5 dogleg right. Clunked tee shot right way short of corner on top of mound deep Bermuda. Tried a save shot to cut it but Bermuda grapped hosel twisted club face for a short crappy wrong way shot. Everything else was frustrating bad shots.
Did I ever mention I hate Bermuda rough

You should be used to it by now.  I hate Bermuda rough, and some Bermuda fairways, and Bermuda greens; just don't play it enough.

Not good. Cold and windy. And for the last month I have a pinched nerve with pain constantly running down left leg. Can't get to left side at all, makes hitting the ball difficult.

79 is not bad with those stats, particularly in cold, windy conditions and pain in left leg.  I know the left leg pain; spent a year not getting to my left side before I had that knee replaced.  It added 5 shots to hcp, and took almost 2 years after surgery to get those 5 shots back.  Take care about playing with the pain; it will develop bad habits.

My wife and I played the Slammer & the Squire and the King & the Bear courses at the World Golf Hall of Fame about 5 years ago.  I didn't play very well there; it was my first golf of a two week Florida trip, but it was still enjoyable.  The Bermuda grass there wasn't that bad compared to Bermuda down south in Naples and Marco Island.

46° this morning brrrrr.

with that I jacked a deep drive which left 72 yds to a short pin. Took my Sub70 58° wedge  and hit one that landed about a yard short, which then hopped over the hole, then spun back a yard square into the cup for an eagle 2! That’s how to start a round! Ended up with a 2 over 73, with 3 othe birdies. Unfortunately, also had 2 doubles. All in all a nice day, oh and 26 putts. That’s low for me... had a few bomber drives today, and I was hitting an AVX that I found on a few of them. Is that a long ball or something?

Carted 18 this afternoon after hitting a bucket at the range. I was really wanting to hit my shorter driver on the course. Played back first in high winds thinking rain was coming but it held of.  Played front to a +4 and a 3 putt on 18. Driver was playing well and I was hitting fairways.

#1 tee I tugged it a bit and had to punch out from behind a tree. Missed an 8 footer for par.  Playing well until 8 when a mis club and gust of wind took my ball iff the back and cost me a bogey.  Tee shot on 9 told me I was tired and pushed on right..first ball right all day off the tee. Punched out leaving 126 downwind to a back stick wirh creek behind.  Approach hit mid greeen but spun back to the fringe and took a double.

Hit 69% fairways with my shorter driver which has me very excited.  I hit the on the screws a much higher % of the time then ever before. Only 40% GIR but left a couple on the fringe close to hole.

Finished at 81 which I was very pleased with in high winds and soggy turf.

In Indio, CA for a couple of weeks and the weather is decent. Cool in the morning and hit lower 70 s while playing Terra Lago South course. Fast, undulating greens and water on several holes. I handled the greens pretty well, but found the water on 3 shots that costs me a double bogey each time. Birdied the 18th hole to come in with a respectable (for me) 81 (41/40). Going to play the north course tomorrow. 20191220_104438.jpeg20191220_103309.jpeg

Thursday... high 34º foggy.   Friday... high 65º and sunny but 10-15 mph breeze.  So my wife and I HAD to go to the course!!  Busy day.  Everyone had the same idea.

Not a very good start:  41 on the front nine, but 36 on the back nine for a 77.  I'll take that round in the middle of winter!!  Putter was hot today; 31 putts, but several were bombs; one for birdie and two for pars.  On #16 I had a 360º lip out that cost me a bogey.  On the par 5 #18 I had a poor drive that was short, but down the middle.  Laid up with an 8i, because I had no shot around the dogleg left, that left me 200y into the wind for my 3rd shot.  I missed the green left in the bunker; out of the bunker and made a 25 footer for a sandy par.  Nice way to end.

Played our annual Christmas lunch round today at Oahu CC. Legit high wind advisory made it really tough. 20-30 mph with gusts of 60. Balls were moving on the greens (which were sanded pretty heavily), while we were addressing the ball, it was crazy. It's always a good time with the work fam though!

Its Winter so non counters at the moment but we play a League between our fourball over the shortened Winter course. Best 4 Stableford rounds  throughout the winter gets the coveted CLAG trophy below.

1a486395-8736-45a3-bc32-b7922934e120.thumb.jpg.657995ef64dbe6e48b6663a68618256f.jpg

I played on Thursday and came in with a respectable 5 over for 36 (off 75% handicap so 6 strokes) Stableford points, also went out yesterday just to pla y a few holes at the end I started to get a little pain in my knee and back. Today I turned up and groan on the 1st tee bending to tee the ball as pain shoots up my back. I'm thinking this is going to go well. After 3 bogeys in 4 holes, I said to one of my playing partners That I think I will go in at the 6th when we are pretty close to the club house. I then birdied 5, 6 and think what the hell I'll play the next couple and see how I feel. Birdied 8 and 9 to be one under at the turn. I continued on,  nursing my back a little cost me a few bogeys on the back 9 but finished strong with 2 great iron shots on 16 and 18 to finish with level par 64 scratch and 42 points with 6 birdies. Pretty chuffed.

My wife and I played with a single that we have played with before.  Great guy!  I started out good with 4 pars, but bogeyed #5, #6, and #7, then doubled #9 for a 42.  On #10 I pushed my ball right behind a big tree with no direct shot at the green.  From 165y I hooked the ball around the tree, below the overhanging limb, over the greenside bunker, onto the green but it rolled off the back; got up and down for par.  Made a 30' putt on #12 for par after another poor tee shot.  Birdied the par 5 #13; stuffed a half SW to a foot.  Sandy par on #14.  However, I doubled #18 for a back nine 40 and a round of 82.  Had fun though; temperatures are going to drop back into the 30's next week.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
