Yesterday was nice at 65º with a breeze; today was a little cooler at 61º, but sunny and no wind.

My wife and I played with a single that we have played with before.  Great guy!  I started out good with 4 pars, but bogeyed #5, #6, and #7, then doubled #9 for a 42.  On #10 I pushed my ball right behind a big tree with no direct shot at the green.  From 165y I hooked the ball around the tree, below the overhanging limb, over the greenside bunker, onto the green but it rolled off the back; got up and down for par.  Made a 30' putt on #12 for par after another poor tee shot.  Birdied the par 5 #13; stuffed a half SW to a foot.  Sandy par on #14.  However, I doubled #18 for a back nine 40 and a round of 82.  Had fun though; temperatures are going to drop back into the 30's next week.

It was like 59 in Salem yesterday. Down to short sleeve shirt for awhile.

Poor soul, we're hitting a hot spell in Scotland at the moment 40'F. I'm lucky if I can play in less than 4 layers; UA polo, T-shirt, vest top and FJ windstopper. I can always add my waterproof jacket if it gets colder 😉

Played 'The Glen Club' in Glenview Il. today - well the virtual one 😎. Our small town has a new simulator that just opened up and uses Golfzon equipment. I found the long game pretty accurate but short game was challenging, especially since I only had one wedge with me.  Ended up with an 85. I would have been happier if I could have played it  IRL. On the other hand it's better than shoveling snow 😂

Coldest day this weekend... 45º with 15mph wind out of the north.  Even the geese were hunkered down.

My wife and I played with a couple that we play with about every other weekend.  They both struggle to break 100 but we have fun.  He struggled more than usual; hit a lot of trees, which is difficult because we don't have very many.  I think he got frustrated; I know the feeling well.

I shot 41/38 = 79 for a fairly consistent round...no birdies, but no doubles either.  Didn't make many putts; hands were cold.  Rattled the stick on the par 5 #13 with a 15 yard pitch shot from behind the green, but just a tap in par.  Here's how my play pretty much went all day...  I hit a decent drive on the par 5 #18, but topped my hybrid; 3rd shot was 148y from left rough and carry over a huge bunker to a front pin on a narrow finger of green; didn't make it.  Had a 15 yard bunker shot to an elevated green; hit to 6 feet and made the par.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Played the Woodhaven Country Club today. A narrow course that has condos on one side of the fairways and a wall on the other. A short par 70 course that rewards good shots but an errant one will tasks you OB or in some trouble that will penalize you. Greens were a bit slow, but rolled well. A couple of bonehead shots and I card a 78. Played with a nice couple who are members there.

Last week my buddy told me I have a really flat swing, and took a video to show me. He was right. So I started trying to get the hands higher and was whacking them good, but really high. My lst400 is a 10° and I had it maxed out to 11.5. So he told me to dial it back down some and that would also lower my spin, and make the ball go further. So I did this morning and hit some monster shots, with the longest at 336. Little wind at my back helped too but still, mashed it. I hit about 5 shots longer than I’ve ever been at this track in the entire year I’ve been playing here. Verrry interesting to be sure.

the irons on the other hand, are still a work in progress, as I’m quite fat on them now. So no good news on them for now, but the driver? Bam!

Quick Sunday 9 at Navy Marine yesterday to continue getting comfortable with the Decade system.

45

FIR: 28.57%

GIR: 22.22%

Putts: 14

Highlight of the round was draining a 30 foot left to right slider for birdie on 16. Low light was chunking a 9i in the water on 12 when a insanely slow group let me play through. Happy Holidays, y'all!

First round since Sept. I played as expected. Didn’t keep score, just went and enjoyed it. Felt great to be back on the course.

It was a soggy mess though. Played holes 1-11 on Eagles and 3-9 on Coyote. The rest of the course was under water. This used to be a fairway.

Sun was shining so I walked the back 9 tonight. 7 pars thru hole 16 then bogied 17 and 18.  Great score for me is cold soggy conditions but bogeys on 17/18 is a bit annoying. Ive been hitting range balls and working on my swing a bit. Amazing what practice does for you.  Really the first time in almost a year that I can have extended practice sessions since 2 hand surgeries. I hit the fairways right on target wirh my shortened driver all 4 times I hit it.

Christmas eve- first game in 3 months and after a bad bout of chronic Bronchitus! Played great, 3 birdies, laser accurate irons (albeit a bit short ) great putting and 'improving' driver, which was either long and straight or push fade. Biggest issue was chipping (again) thinned a few thru the green from 15 yds and only fatted 2. If ONLY I could chip "I could've been a contender, I could've been somebody......" (points for the person who knows the movie) 😉

Hoping to play again before new year as the forecast is 46*, so if its dry and no wind I'll play. Struggled with stamina after the illness but this year I will get fitter and stop all the rubbish I put in my body.

My Body used to be a warehouse! now it will be transitioning to a lean production facility...........😂

Got out and played with my best bud whom I haven’t gotten to play with much since he got his new job. It was really fun, I miss playing with that guy...

anyways, it rained 2 inches last night so it was cart path only.

but my new higher plane swing is still groovey, and I had 2 drives over 300!

gotta love it...

Should have posted this a few days ago. During break in the weather pattern, we had the chance to play the TPC Champion course in Scottsdale. And, my friend, who is a member, paid!

Total 99,  Putts 30, 6 penalties from out of bounds, 2 water penalties,  46% fairways

Considering I never played there before, I felt fairly good. It was tough for me; I did not play it very well. The OB shots may simply be the result of trying to hit too hard.

No rain that day, but, it was quite cool and the course itself was somewhat wet.

I tended to pull it left; even the good shots were strong draws.

Will play TPC and I will plan it to e a warmer drier day.

- 41 (+5)

- 4/7 FIR

- 4/9 GIR (1 birdie)

- 16 Putts (2 3-putts, 3 2-putts, 4 1-putts)

Not often can you be happy with shooting more than the temperature, but when Michigan gives you golfing weather in December, you'll take anything you can get.

I played a quick nine holes with my brother-in-law this morning at one of our local Links-style courses, and had a lot of fun despite the temperature. We teed off a little before 10:30 a.m. with the temperature only at 37 degrees and it never got warmer. Unfortunately, the sky was completely overcast and there was a 15 mph sustained wind, which meant I lost feeling in my hands somewhere around the third tee box. 🥶

I'm very happy with the way I played. Relatively clean card with nothing worse than bogey. The course was wet, greens were punched, bumpy, long and slow. But by the third hole I figured out just to club up twice due to the temps and layers, and hit the ball harder when putting, and things went pretty smoothly after that.

No tee markers were out, so we played what we think was a mixture of blue and white tees. I didn't hit either par 3, had two really awful drives, but had three very nice ones I'm happy with. I hit both par 5s (though they were short, only around 500 yards), landing a beautiful 52 degree wedge about three feet past the hole on the second that spun back to 9 feet below the hole. I sank the birdie putt.

My new Cobra hybrid was money and got a lot of use from fairway, rough and tee. The baffler rails are awesome.

Of the five greens I missed none were in any sort of trouble, with a few that were on the collar or just short of the green. Hitting more greens is going to be critical to improving my scores so I'm keeping close watch on that heading into next season.

If the weather cooperates I will get to play my last round of the year Monday but if not today's round was a 79 with one 3 putt and only one bird.  My driver was my best club today followed by the wedges and putter.  I had 6 skins and the 3 guys I was playing only had 4 combined so it was a great way to end the year if weather gets us Monday.  Only a few short years back I expected to shoot in the 70s, now it is an unexpected treat.

WOW!...........not the shorts but the green, it looks superb, almost artificial. We have hollow tined soft muddy bumpy greens, but I suppose it is December in the North

The greens were awesome on this Exec. Rolled great a bit on the slow side but true.
