t's frustrating to go backwards after spending time and money on lessons over the past six months, but to be expected, I guess.

Oh yeah... I'd read somewhere that even Tiger - renowned for tinkering with his swing and working working working constantly on it - took up to a year to incorporate a new change.

So..... what does that mean for the rest of us mere mortal golfers?

A meh day, at +7. Pretty blustery day of odd winds that I didn’t compensate well for. But, did have a fair share of good hits and putts, so all in all, a good fun day

Pretty bad round this afternoon. It was one of those days that nothing worked. I hit a few decent irons and had less than 2 putts per hole, but tee balls and chipping were atrocious. I think this was the golfing gods getting back at me for starting to feel positive about where my game was headed.

Got out for another lunch time 9 holes.  Played the same course I did last week, but some better results off the tee and a couple strokes better at 38.

Hole 1 – 508 yd par 5 – Weak drive but in play in left rough – 3 wood from 247 into stiff breeze to front fringe – Uphill 15 ft eagle putt left short – made 3 ft – Birdie

Hole 2 – 400 yd dogleg right par 4 – Perfect Drive with 3 Wood – 114 yard GW pushed a bit to center of green and a tad short about 25 ft. – 2 Putt Par

Hole 3 – 130 yd par 3 – Pulled GW to right rough – Down lie with not much green to work with on chip – missed 8 ft putt – Bogey

Hole 4 – 542 yard par 5 – Pulled drive but well struck  – Stance on cart path so I dropped –Trees in direct line with 280 left to uphill green – Hooded 5 iron with 40 yard hook to middle of fairway! – 85 yards left and hit LW to 18 ft. – 2 Putt Par

Hole 5 – 185 yard par 3 – Misjudged wind and hit too much club 5 iron – 20 yards back right of green and hit a good chip, but still left with 8 ft. – Missed putt - Bogey

Hole 6 – 420 yard par 4 – Good drive just missed fairway on left – 104 yds left SW that I just gave up on and finished on right rough just next to green – Great chip to 3 ft. - Par

Hole 7 – 400 yard par 4 – Timing was off and snap hook drive but luckily stayed in bounds – Low punch 6 iron from 205 out to 30 yards short right of green – Pitch to 10 ft – Missed Putt - Bogey

Hole 8 – 155 yard par 3 – PW a bit short – 35 ft putt was hit perfect I thought but hit bump in green and stopped all momentum – made 5 ft. par putt - Par

Hole 9 – 530 Yard par 5 –Ok drive pulled to right rough but hit well – 260 left– 2 hybrid pushed to just over green side bunker – 10 yd chip from awkward stance goes to 10 ft – 2 putt Par

Wife and I played the front today. A STRONG wind from the north over Lake Erie created a wind chill that had to be in the 40's. We were originally planning on playing 18 but we were soooo cold after 9 we went home. I got an unremarkable 45 and she ended up with a 46. That's her best front she's ever carded - she was thrilled and glad we went out.

Played 18 today and we're not gonna talk about score. And especially not about tee shots. Nor bunker shots.

But here's something interesting - this course had these clever little contraptions in the holes....

See that orange "handle" sticking out above the cup? You pull it up with your putter and in turn it raises a metal plate from the bottom of the cup that lifts your ball out..!

OK, I did manage to pull off a few (very few) decent iron shots and short approaches over 18 holes; and even got one par and one bogey on the shorter Par 3s (..so i got _that_ going for me...).

But it was still an expensive golf ball day 😜

That’s fantastic and ingenious. Hope more courses utilize this so we aren’t denting cups!

Yeah - very simple to operate and, of course, totally touchless.

I feel like I played well. Other than some bad chip shots from all the standing water from the rain earlier in the day. I can't complain. I even walked Which I really needed, it was nice to just slow down and enjoy being out.20200514_180757~2.jpeg20200514_145446.jpeg20200514_154737_HDR.jpeg

Easily the biggest roller coaster ride of 9 holes I've ever had. My swing felt really good, really only had 3-4 really bad swings then a handful of terrible course management decisions.

Par, Bogey, *Triple, Double, Birdie, Birdie, Bogey, *Quad, *Triple

Those three holes were a real struggle, but the rest I have no complaints at all. Golf sure can be strange sometimes 😜.

Sure is tough when you get into a little stretch like that to get out of it, but hey its golf!

Struck the ball very well today, shot 40/41:81 with two birdies and one penalty. Hole #3, Par 4, drive pulled left into water, penalty stroke then chopped 8 iron to middle of the green, followed by one putt for par! Hole #17, Par 5, drive into ditch crossing fairway, then 6 Wood out of ditch about 60 yards, followed by a 200 yard 4 Wood to middle of green just 3 feet from pin....one putt for birdie!

Overall a pretty good ball striking day.

Those two holes could have been over par and the score just average for you.  Isn't it amazing how saving a hole after a poor shot helps the score?  Good job Foz!!

Greenskeeper Revenge 2 man scramble today.  Pins were tricked up pretty good using various obstacles, mounds, slopes, and whatnot to make it tougher than tough.  If that wasn't bad enough, both my partner and I played just poor golf.  Rules required 7 drives from each player.  I actually had to take a few less than optimum drives to get my 7 in.  My partner is a 6 hdcp and I'm a 7 --- we shot an 80!!!  That's poor playing no matter how you slice it (pun intended!)!!!!!!

Solid day on the course, but definitely could have been better. Shot 79. Highlight of the round was getting birdie on a hole that in over 100 rounds I had never birdied before. The par 5 10th at Whitepath Golf Course is only 531 yards but requires the most precise tee shot ever if you want to go more than 6 iron off the tee box. I took it safe with the 6 iron, it goes downhill to a pretty tight fairway but being down the mountain it goes a long way if you hit it in the short grass. I then hit a mammoth 3 wood and found myself with a short pitch shot to set up a 5 foot birdie putt that I drained. Happiest golf moment of my life, this hole has terrorized me for 16 years and I live 10 seconds from the tee box so it's always just laughing at me daily. I've shot under par on the back multiple times, birdied the hole before and after, but that hole is the Bermuda Triangle of golf. Today, I conquered it!

It quickly became the second happiest golf moment of my life on the next hole, a par 3 that's almost 150 but plays 118 going down the mountain again. I hit one pin high, had almost 10 feet left for birdie. But my 6 year old nephew hit his driver inside of me and had a chance at his first birdie and par, but settled for a three putt bogey. Still such an awesome experience.
