I missed alot of make able putts in the front , blasting them back and forth. I had 4 x 3 Putts. which you can score with that. Then I was making 3, 5, 10 footers in the back with no problem. I was dialed in with irons and wedges so I was never too far from the hole. Makes putting alot easier. If I would have putted normally in the Front, that could have been another 12-15 Putts in the instead of 20. Where did you play? And 15 putts sounds about right for you. Sent from my iPhone using MyGolfSpy There are some short holes that you have to hit iron of and take away the driver. #3 , Par 5, but you can reach the creek with driver, since the ball rolls there and it can run for 100yds into the creek. #5 tight landing area, 3wood or iron of the tee , leaves you with 7 or 8 iron in to slow down green . #8 is one of the short holes only 304yds, but you have to work the ball around the bend right to left, bring water in to play real quick. Relative easy hole, but because is easy, people make big number there. #12 is a good hole, blind shot over the bunker landing area then over the creek into the green #13 was a great hole, but now that the tree new the green has fallen its an easy green to hit in 2 , the Tree made the whole difficult because you had to hit it high to get over it and the green became small (optical illusion) #16 is tough par 3, 178yds into a thin vertical green , that too much spin you off the green into the water , too much club your over the green into the forest. #17 is the other short hole its only 290yds but you have to work the ball right to left, to much left your in the creek, too much right your in the other creek.and If you try to go over the tree in front to cut the corner you best be straight, bunker waiting for you and if you are over, the green goes away from you and you will have a hard time getting it close. #18 to me is deceiving long, 428yds, but it feels like you are always into the wind, making the approach shot over the creek a little more challenging. The challenging thing at WoodBridge are the greens, fast, slope and if you are in the wrong side, 3 putts are in your future. Jimbonecrusher
I was lucky and got to play twice. The first round was on a course that I am familiar course and would call my home course. Went out in 35 (-1) after opening the round with a double, which I wasn't too upset about. I then birdied two of the first three holes on the back and thought that I was on a role. Then came the 13th and 15th hole where I made bogey from less than 100y. Talk about stellar play. I was a bit frustrated and unleashed on a drive on 16, 17, and 18. Ended up having a greenside pitch on 16 that finished about 4 feet, then a 2 footer on 17 after pitching from 40y. Making those putts really charged me, and after hitting a good drive on 18, I had 208y on 18 with the wind behind. Ended up putting 6 feet, but overplayed the break. Finishing with three birdies helped me get to 68 (-4) and be the low round in my group. I ended up playing the other course in my town on Sunday. The greens run about 2 feet faster but have very slight undulations. It takes a lot of course knowledge to know how to putt these greens. Where I had 29 putts on Saturday, I couldn't make anything on Sunday and finished with 34 putts. I have now played this course 4 or 5 times now, so I think I need to play it a lot more. It also didn't help that when I played the course 10 days prior, the greens were very firm, so all approach shots had to be landed on the front or just short. The greens must have been watered a good bit because the ball was not bounding forward and a few shots were spinning back quite a bit. I didn't adjust well as I kept expecting to come to a green that was firm. This all resulted in me shooting 74 (+2). So be it, I will have to go out and try again. I better adjust or I won't get good results. sirchunksalot, daviddvm, cnosil and 4 others

I am there right now. I have gone from a solid single digit to.... I have no idea. I can't hit a ball with anything.... driver, irons or wedges. Everything I hit is almost cut in half with the bottom of the club. This has gone on for at least the last 6 rounds I've played. This is not fun or enjoyable... at all. I have lost 30 lbs. over the Winter. I can't find a swing to save my life. The game I love has become something to despise/fear. I'm not sure how much longer I can keep going like this before I just quit. Have any of you ever been where I am? What did you do? How did you fix it? Damn that sounds serious. I've never been to single digits, so probably not much comfort for you. But a few years ago I did think about quitting. My wife and I started playing together, around the 4th or 5th year, she quickly went down to about -11, playing for a women's team, etc... and I was still stuck at -20 something. So I threw my bad in the basement and didn't touch it for like 3 months. I tried other hobbies such as paintball, tennis, but none brought the enjoyment or frustration that golf gave me. I also missed playing together with my wife and the friends I've met on the course. So instead of changing my game, I changed my attitude and don't care about it as much. But you and I are playing at different levels, so I guess the frustration is different as well. Did your swing change with the weight loss? I would kill to lose 30lbs right now... I got a few extra pounds and I'm already starting to notice a stiff lower back on bad days. Sometimes a hard reset helps... like not playing through the winter. Once spring comes, it feels like all my swing flaws are gone... haha... Don't give up, we are here for you! Popular Post downlowkey
I was the first person on the course this morning and managed to wrap up 18 holes before 10am! I've been building a rapport with our starter and he let me out a few minutes early as a single today. With the routing back to normal for the first time this season, I decided to play the tips and make it my first "official" round of the year. Hit the lumber right where I was looking all day and played really steady overall, but definitely missed some good birdie looks. Through 16 holes I was (+1) with a couple bogies against 1 birdie. Our 17th is a double dogleg Par 5 that almost never presents a good opportunity to reach in two, so I hit a nice 3-wood off the tee and 6-iron to my layup spot. I had 88 yards (my favorite yardage) to the hole, cut back right on a little shelf where I couldn't quite see the bottom of the flagstick. Those of you who have been keeping up with the practice thread know much work I've been putting in with the wedges over the past ~week. And this situation is the reason I've been grinding so hard. Gave myself a little pep talk prior... "this is the shot you've been practicing, don't worry about where it _might_ go, just trust the swing you've been working on". Settled into my still somewhat awkward feeling new setup and really tried to trust all the reps I've been putting in. Made a nice move, ball came off the face with the perfect trajectory about a foot right of the flag and I figured it would be pretty close. Seemed to land in a good spot but I couldn't see surface of the green from my vantage. I assumed it probably dropped in the jar when the gentleman on the grounds crew pulling weeds behind the green, threw his hands up in the air and yelled "let's go!!!" Turns out it did end up in the hole and man was it a great feeling! Closed with a sloppy bogie on 18 for an even par round to start the year. Thoughts for the day: I genuinely prefer our layout from the tips. It's probably time to put in some real work on the putting green. It was an amazing feeling to see the results of all those wedge grind sessions payoff with a dreamweaver hole out for my first eagle of the season. I'm scheduled to lead off in the first slot tomorrow morning - fingers crossed our starter turns me loose again, because it was a real treat to get in a full loop before starting my work day. cnosil, yungkory, CarlH and 8 others 11 Quote PXG___0811 X 9* - Mitsubishi Diamana s60 Limited X Cobra___S9-1 Pro 15* - Matrix Ozik XCON 7 S Adams___XTD Forged 3i - Matrix Ozik Program F15 120 S Adams___CMB 4-PW - Matrix Ozik Program F15 120 S KZG___Tri-Tour 50.08__54.10__58.12 - Accra iCWT 2.0-95i S Nike___Method Converge B1-01 (copper insert) Maxfli___'23 Tour X "The most important shot in golf is the next one“

We watched one of them coming down nine today- he’s a strong mini tour player, has won some events but can’t make the jump to Korn Ferry. Having played with him i know it’s because he carries a bad break or bad shot with him for the next few holes. You can’t do that at the top levels of the game. And I’m in no way suggesting you would Chisag - you’re point of how silly the game can be was well taken. ... Playing QB was the best preparation for golf. You can't let a bad throw have you second guessing your next throw. All concentration has to be on the play at hand. Golf is exactly the same. The very first shot with my Cobra Utility on a drivable 325yd par 4, I was laying up for an easy pitch but my drive landed squarely on the cement 100yd marker, bounced like a Super Ball and rolled onto the fringe. You are gonna get bad breaks and good breaks, all just part of the game. I have never understood throwing clubs, slamming them in the ground or getting upset which for me is all just wasted energy. Popular Post MaxEntropy
I took half a day vacation today to play with a friend I haven't played with in a couple years. Front 9 was pretty much garbage. Ok off the tee, but irons were a struggle. Chipping was meh, I was rarely close enough to expect to make the putt. Ended up with 49 on the front. I decided to actually play my driver on the back and work on it since the front sucked. Turned out to be a good idea. 43 on the back with a pathetic triple on a par 3 (no lost balls, so yeah, it was bad). Chipping improved so I had 4 one-putts on the back (5 total one-putts, no three-putts). +20 total on a pretty tough course that I've only played one other time. Here is a pic of their "signature" hole. Long, downhill par 3. Was playing about 190 over a ravine. Managed to par it with a 4h to just off the back, decent chip, and a putt. Beautiful hole, IMO. downlowkey, MattF, THEZIPR23 and 10 others 11 2 Quote Driver: Epic Speed 9* (set -1) MMT 70X 3W: Tour B JGR Recoil 760ES 3H, 4H: Tour B JGR 19*, 23* Recoil 780ES 4-AW: Tour B JGR HF2 Modus3 Tour 105 SW: RTX Zipcore Black Satin 54* LW: TAIII Black 58* Putter: Scottsdale TR Senita Bag: BigMax Dri Active Lite Ball: TP5x or AVX (yellow) Pushcart: BigMax iQ+ Testing Complete, Final Review Posted: Sub70 TAIII Forged Wedges

Got to agree with you there man. A short memory is needed with bad shots. I rarely get negative on the course, but sometimes I just need to take a second to vent some frustrations out (never pulling a Sergio and damaging the course though). Course was in great shape, don’t know if you see my ball way up past my buddy’s. He and I are normally neck and neck. We both hit solid drives. I’ve definitely experienced a distance jump. I was 10 to 25 yards past him all day. Here’s a picture from 9 to illustrate: Typical Suoerspeed jump though so I had a few skanky irons - a couple of flairs or thin hooks - chipping and putting was great. 37-38 75 - as a two some we played in 2:53 - he shot 40-41 81. chisag
... Nothing wrong with momentary self recrimination for doing something stupid. I think the most derogatory thing I can say and from my experience most golfers feel the same, when I make a mental mistake like trying to guide a drive achieving the opposite followed by a most disgusted "Your Name Here!" Then like Keyser Soze ... it disappears and it is on to the next shot with a positive frame of mind. GolfSpy BOS, Rickp, sirchunksalot and 6 others 9 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... Popular Post mr.hicksta
So I played Aviara yesterday and it was the best course I've played in San Diego (yes, better than Torrey IMO), but I brought my trash game so it was a frustrating round. It was also the 16th round of golf I played in May! 95 (48/47), 92 ESC - 1 birdie, 4 pars, 8 bogeys, 2 doubles, 1 triple, 1 quad and 1 quintuple. So basically, 3 holes destroyed my round. FIR 7/14 (50%) - I had a few monster drives, but also got a bit wild. GIR 5/18 (28%) - Irons and wedges were 'meh' again. 38 putts (SG -7.380) with five 3 putts and one 4 putt. An absolutely HORRENDOUS day putting. The greens were rolling nice, but they were hard to read. For whatever reason, I seem to play poorly at nice courses, which is disappointing, but it was nice to finally check Aviara off the list. On to the next round!
