Popular Post dlow206
Shot a 99 today from the blue tees, which is progress for me. Score would have been lower if I had less OB balls to start the round. However, made a good discovery. Off the tee, i was missing with a push fade. I made a simple adjustment with ball placement for driver, placing it slightly more towards the left heel. That turned the push fade into a straight ball. Made my first birdie since returning to golf (I have been playing on the course for about 6 months). Was a par 3, knocked on the green, made the birdie putt from 10 to 12 feet. Kenny B
Two bad rounds this weekend... 94 and 88. I had a chance to break 100 which I have never done at my course. I'm still waiting for the good break I'm supposed to get; I had 10-12 bad breaks, and I almost got hit by a tee shot from #5 while I was by the green on #6. Landed maybe 10 feet away while I was in my downswing on a pitch shot. Chunked it. Had a shot to the green that landed over the bunker in the rough, bounced straight up, then rolled back off the steep lip into the bunker. When I got to the green I didn't see my ball into bunker, until I looked further out. How does a ball roll off the edge of a bunker and end up 15 yards away from the green? I'll tell you... it had to have hit this large rock and bounced straight way from the green. A 10 foot bunker shot is a lot easier than a 40 foot carry bunker shot. My second bunker shot was to 4 feet. I could go on and on about the bad breaks; where is the good break? Edit: Forgot to mention the kid that was warming up on the range next to me, hitting towering iron shots. He was carrying his bag in the foursome behind us. When I was on the par 5 #6 approaching the green, I looked back and there was a ball on the narrowest part of the fairway between bunkers. I've never been close to that spot off the tee, and he was playing from the tips. As I walked off the green, got in the cart, I saw him hit his second shot. The ball landed on the front of the green and rolled past the middle pin, just missing. I almost got to see an Albatross; never seen one before. At some point around No. 7 tee, I cussed myself out a little and finally just willed myself to put better swings on the ball. Had nice drives on No. 7 (hardest hole on the course, which I parred), No. 9 (birdie, missed an eagle from the fairway by inches), No. 10, and then just absolutely nailed three straight on 14-16, including hitting the green on No. 15 which is a 274-yard par 4 that was playing uphill into the wind today. Still cannot buy a putt and the combination of poor putting and having tree trouble on nine (!) holes really made it hard to have any chance of scoring well today. I'm getting very good at hitting low stingers from out under the trees, but in almost every case that means I need to play a perfect hole from then on to have a chance at par, and my short game is just not currently up to that challenge. Since getting to the driving range on May 22 following my lesson earlier in May, I've shot 18-holes scores of 85, 83, 84, 86, 84 and 85. Consistent, but I'll need to see some improvement from my putting if I hope to do anything other than shoot mid-80s. Have you tried putting lessons? Most people don't give putting much love when it comes to lessons. I guess they think it's such a simple motion, and they can figure out how to get better by themselves. It does take practice, but knowing what's wrong, what to practice and how to practice pays dividends. Popular Post chisag
... Might as well ride this streak as long as I can. 15-20 mph winds today and I was just a little off with most everything. Played with the most deliberate golfer that just took forever to do anything with a club in his hand. Pull the club, look from behind the intended line for a good 20 seconds. Take his stance and freeze for 5 seconds then take a very deliberate practice swing and hold his finish for another 5 seconds. Finally get over the ball and repeat: freeze for 5 seconds and then take a very deliberate swing and hold his finish after a poor shot. It was difficult to get in any rhythm and I started out with 4 pars and then a bogie. Followed that with a birdie then pars for the rest of the front and thankfully he quit after 9, leaving me with a Dad and his 18 yr old that were pleasant enough to play with but pretty quiet. ... Since they were in a cart and I was walking not much interaction but at least a better flow. 2 birdies on the back for a 70. Probably could have had another birdie, or at least a chance for one on 18 with a solid lay up and a LW but I had 226 to clear a bunker guarding the front and be on in 2 for an eagle opportunity. Hit it well but only 224 and fried egged into the lip. Blasted out sideways and got up and down for par. Go big or go home right? I will add the course I have been playing for this streak is only 6357 yds, has a rating of 70.7 and a slope of 126. ...That makes 5 rounds in a row under par and I have never done that before so like I said, gonna ride this out. T100-S were back in the bag and hard to believe I already have more confidence in them after a couple weeks than my P790's. To be fair I played them for almost 2 years with Recoil Prototypes and only have 3 rounds with the new ones and Steelfiber 95's and I just don't seem to get along with the Steelfibers. I think I will play my P760's tomorrow with the Recoil PT's and see how it goes. Supposed to be 94* and humid so will the streak continue? I played a bit scrappily, struggled with my irons most of the day. Drove it ok, 10/14 fairways, putted ok but missed a few I'd normally make or at least give more of a chance. Hit poor putts on 3 good birdie chances, 2 of which were on holes I haven't birdied yet this year. Finished 9 over playing off 6. Highlight of the day came from @Blueberry_Squishie with a great birdie on the 14th after 2 poor shots he flushed a long iron from a long way out and rolled in a 25 foot putt that was never going to miss. First time playing a course with such varying terrain and severe punishment for hitting in the wrong spots as Curlewis is always tricky. After playing a few times I would definitely be better at judging the different elevations etc. Also didn't help that I couldn't hit driver even close to straight. Got punished hard for missed drives. The approach on the 9th didn't look right to my eye but there had been others on earlier holes where it hadn't looked right either and I ended up a club short. I'll be on leave from work in two weeks time so if a trip up the Princes is on the cards, I can show @Peaksy68 around Werribee any day. That's a pretty nice score considering the GIR and FIR cksurfdude and Sluggo42 2 Quote SpeedZone 9* w/ Aldila Rogue Silver 60 S X2 Hot 3 Deep 14.5* w/ Aldila Tour Green 75 S JetSpeed 5W 19* w/ Matrix Velox T 69 S OR Super LS 3H 19* w/ Kuro Kage Black 80 S JPX919 Forged 4-PW w/ Modus3 105 S Vokey SM7 50/08F, 54/14F & 58/08M w/ Modus3 115 Wedge ER1 34" w/ SuperStroke Fatso 2.0 Pro / H2NO Lite Cart Bag / 3.0 / NX7 Pro LRF My reviews: MLA Putter // Titleist SM7 // PING i500 // PuttOUT

Missed FiRs weren't bad misses, or they were so bad that I was in another fairway rather than being in trees. Only had to play out sideways and take my medicine once. HeathS16
played the same course as Friday morning though it was much tougher conditions (fast and firm, plus wind) I shot another 85. After driving like a baboon on cocaine, I righted the ship and came home with 5 straight pars. Very proud to recover that way after a horrid front 9. Jwhite86
Played a quick 9 on Friday afternoon. 4/6 fairways only 3/9 greens But hit some shots that have me feeling like I finally know what I'm doing again. sirchunksalot, cksurfdude, Sluggo42 and 1 other 4 Quote WITB Driver: Titleist TSi2 9º w/ Diamana DF 60 TX 3 Wood: Titleist 915F 16.5º w/ Diamana Blueboard or Taylor Made 300 Mini 11.5º w/ Fuji Ventus TR Red Hybrids: Callaway Super Hybrid 17º w/ Tensei Orange Titleist 816 H1 21º w/ Diamana Blueboard or Srixon U85 w/ UST Recoil Irons (6-43º): Titleist T400 w/ DG AMT Red Wedges: 48º Vokey SM6, 54º SM8, 60º Tour Issued Hand Ground Vokey Putter: Titleist Scotty Cameron Newport Masterful Tourtype SSS CT A048277
