Popular Post TCUfrog
Hit a personal record, 74, today. Shot 39 on the front with a 35 on the back. Shot of the day came on the par 5 15th, where I hit 3 wood from 225 to the elevated green. Hit the bank short and popped up and rolled out to 1 foot short of the pin. tommc23
Once again started my round off slightly rough then the back 9 had me rolling on the par, bogey, and birdie train. I then hit a bad 7i which lead me to shooting a 8 on a par 4. Broke 100 but could have shot my best ever round on a course that was playing tough with very sloped greens that were fast and fun. MrBandit
Played yesterday, should have not, too damn hot. Started front 9 with a double, made some great up and down middle and finish the front 9 with another double. Back 9 just got worse, never got anything really going. Double 3 out 4 of the par 5... can improve your score doing that. Popular Post GolfSpy_SHARK
Different round from last week. Started out slow but scrambling was on point. Had a knockdown shot from 160 on #2 used my 6 iron because I had to keep it low. Landed front fringe and rolled was about 15' out but was just a really good shot from a bad spot. After the first 3 holes (bogey, par double) really dialed it in. Off the tee came around and approach struggled a little. The greens were extremely receptive and spun back several times (spun off on the 7th after landing about 15' onto the green) it is a false front but it zipped back. Finished up with a 40 (5 pars, 3 bogeys and a double) cnosil, Rickp, Kenny B and 7 others 10 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? Popular Post russtopherb
Shot a 98 today that could have potentially been high 80's if I hadn't taken a few penalties off the tee and avoided 2 blow up holes. One of them involved 3 chips from well below a raised green that rolled right back down at me. Given that it was my first full 18 of the year, I ain't mad about the score. I am, however, mad about the below. I hit it off the tee on a tight fairway and the ball went maybe 20 yards and it sounded awful. I looked down and went "huh". Popular Post edingc
- 44/40 = 84 (+12) - 8/14 FIR - 6/18 GIR (1 birdie) - 32 Putts (1 3-putts, 12 2-putts, 5 1-putts) The in-laws took me up to a different course today, The Falls at Barber Creek in Kent City, Michigan. I played there last summer and it's a gorgeous little course. I say little because the course tops out at 6,004 yards from the back tees. But for what it lacks in length it makes up for tight tee shots and small, very undulating greens with difficult pin placements. So many sucker pins on the course today. It was very hot today, and the ball was flying well. I played pretty darn well overall. I struggled with the driver early on hitting one ball OB and one ball into the water, but during the middle, middle-end of the round I hit some really nice iron and wedge shots. Because the course is short, most of the back nine I didn't hit anything longer than 4 hybrid off the tee. Birdied number 11 and parred three of the four par 3s, which really helped my score. Unfortunately, I couldn't hold it together on the last hole. I knew I was going for a 38 on the back with a par, and I tried to chew too much of the hole off the tee. I hooked my driving iron into the massive left fairway bunker, caught my sand shot heavy to about 30 yards in front of the green and then unfortunately caught my pitch heavy as well, landing just short of the fringe. Chipped to about four feet but sadly two-putted for a 40. I still need to work on trusting that if I start the ball right of target that it will come back. For much of the front I hit irons perfect distances but they drew left of target. On the par three No. 7 hole that really hurt me as I ended up left of the hole chipping downhill to a pin tucked at the back of the green. I bumped the ball about a yard short of the green and it ran on, but left me an awful downhill putt. I ended up three-putting from about 10 feet. Ouch. GolfSpy AFG
Just got back from my Thursday afternoon round with my boys. This time I only took my 5 year old, whose interest doesn’t quite match his older brothers yet. Not going to force him...he played 2 holes, drove the cart, picked flowers for his Mom, and had fun...the important part. As for me, ever have a practice round you wish you could count and post? 3 birdies and 1 bogey, would have been my first sub-par 9 of my life. But, it was just practice. Can’t wait to get out for 18 tomorrow morning. (And really hoping this great game of ours isn’t setting up to humble me...) GolfSpy BOS
Funny how that works huh? I’ve got a Honma driver coming to test, and suddenly my Epic can’t miss. That’s how the Ping G30 stayed in the bag an extra year and a half. HahaBut just as I saw at True Spec Golf last fall the M5 is 10+ yards longer for me. I was launching it slightly higher with less spin. I don’t expect the SZ to be 10 yards longer but I do expect some more consistency (especially with the Ventus) and a little higher launch. I already know I love the look, sound, and feel of it. ncwoz
Another weird night of league. Felt like I actually struck the ball pretty well, but the score just didn't reflect it. 48 (net +1); 4/7 FIR, 1/9 GIR, 16 putts First hole is an extremely get-able par 5: only 465 yards to an elevated green that is elevated and hard to hold. Drove slightly left, left my 2nd shot short, then over-hit the green on the approach which left me short sided. 5 ft below the hole, and 10 yards away, I caught it a little thin and sent it past the top shelf the hole was on. Ended up with a double that really shouldn't ever be less than a bogey. Second hole is typically trouble for me. Hard dog-leg left with a junk bunker to hit over on the approach. I slightly over-drew my tee shot, which left me 145 out with a tree in my way. I needed about 15 yards right to left to get it around. Struck my 9i (my usual 145 club) perfectly. It grazed a leaf, drew exactly how much I wanted to and...ended up 15 yards past the green. I'm still scratching my head on what happened there. 6th hole pushed my 3W right OB. 7th hole hit the fairway, but a tree obstructed my approach, and ended up in a green-side bunker. 8th pushed my drive way right, had me in a spot I needed to just punch out to the fairway. Chunked the next shot, walked away with a triple. 9th hole I smoked a drive, left me 75 yards from the green. I had over hit a few partial wedges throughout the round, and this one I feathered...5 yards short of the green. Tricky pin placement and a chip that didn't quite have enough to get down to the valley the pin was in, and I bogeyed a hole where I was 75 yards out sitting two. Again though, I feel like I scored really poorly and still hit basically my handicap. Maybe I should just start tempering my expectations lol. LeftyRM7
I had the biggest roller coaster round of my life today. I was under net par the entire front 9, came within a foot of my first ace and sat at 42 at the turn. Best 9 ever on my home course. Through 15 holes, I was net -4 but I’d been outside all day and the 100° heat was getting to me and I knew it. Told myself all I had to do was keep it in play and get out of the last three holes with bogeys. I then proceeded to drop 4 strokes over the last 3 holes and ended up tying my best round there at 90. Can’t believe I was that close, playing that well and I just flat ran out of gas. On top of that, on 17 a pair of older gentlemen caught me, I was walking so I’d usually let them go, but since there was 1 hole to play I figured I’d be alright. Well I’m walking across the 18th fairway after hitting my approach, and I hear a tee shot, then I hear a ball, and I look up as it wizzes by about 6 feet in the air right in front of me. It takes a lot to make me mad, but I was so drained it really ticked me off. Without even thinking about it, I casually kicked his ball out of the rough and into the trees. He pulled up and said “sorry, didn’t see you there” but I was in the middle of the fairway, 200 yards in front of him and he just watched me chip and putt on the last hole. I just smiled and waved and walked toward the green. Not sure I handled that the best way but passive aggressive is better than aggressive I guess.
