pulledabill
Other than adjusting the lie angle on my news clubs, I haven't played or practiced much in 5 weeks, Shot an 86 from the tips at 6900 yards last night. 3 putted 3 or 4 times and took a 6 on a par 3 thanks to a pulled tee shot OB. Had to hit driver last night which cost me 2 strokes on one hole, but otherwise please with my driver play. cksurfdude
Played a fun and challenging 9 yesterday; had one of those up and down rounds -- ie. some really good shots plus some really baaaaad shots, with very little mediocre ones in-between. So a typical golf day, I guess! 3 pars, 3 bogeys, 3 doubles for an "even bogey" round overall. One big disappointment was a lot of my iron shots .. I've finally started hitting them nicely recently, but I just proved out that saying about your golf swing: "..you don't own it, you only rent it for a while.." Did have a few nice tee shots and short approaches; wedges were mostly good but the highlight was putting - which was really spot-on (that day!) .. most first putts were literally 1-3 inches from dropping; only left one short and nailed that second one (so no 3 putts that day). Playing 18 tomorrow so will try (emphasized!) to just hit solid shots to safe targets. MaxEntropy, Rickp, sirchunksalot and 6 others 9 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ... juspoole
First time out with my new putter and there is still a lack of comfort and adjustments that are needed. It was apparent on the first hole where I had 15 feet for birdie and 3 putted. I still had 7 feet for par to give you an idea how bad the first putt was. Part misread, part yip strong pull. Also, I'm noticing more and more that I tend to misread putts on the high side. I did settle in and hit many good putts through the round, but would just continue to overread. I did have 3 birdies, which is great for me during a round but should have been better than a 79 with how I was hitting it. A lot of come back 5 footers that still aren't falling and it really came down to bad reads rather than bad putts. Popular Post StrokerAce
I can't stop playing golf swing and just play golf.... I've had 2 good rounds and 2 really crappy ones and the crappy ones were me (typically) over-analyzing every single thing - "why'd you hit that good shot? why'd the ball go in that direction? what happened with that putt?" I've got to learn to get out of my own head and remember that the golf course is not for swing mechanics. Yesterday was a great day to play golf and I had a great time meeting @B.Boston and @Lacassem and it was really nice seeing @Wedgie again and he was (as always) an excellent host at his home course. My day was CRAP though. Driving -- 1/10 Woods -- 2/10 Irons -- 4/10 Chipping -- 7/10 Putting -- 0/10 14/50.... 28% .... F- The only saving grace was a birdie on the par 5 18th. Hit a pretty good drive; bombed a 3hybrid; chipped to 8 feet with the 54 and (shockingly) made the putt. Sadly, the most recent purchases, driver+putter are not working out and they'll be going up for sale as the return period has expired (barely) and the trade in value is a joke. (side note: if I buy something for 10.00 on January 1, and I want to return on Feb. 15, how can it now be worth 5.00? I get that there needs to be some residual loss but 50% of it's value in 45 days... man that gets me) I've given both of these a few rounds and realize that they just aren't going to help me shoot lower scores. They were both "pandemic" purchases and I didn't really get a chance to try either of them. BAD MOVE. I keep trying to replace the F7+ that really hasn't let me down. For the most part it is accurate but not quite as long. I need to stop chasing that extra 10-15 yards. I'm not a good enough player where the difference between 9/W or 7/8 into greens is going to make a difference. ....off to find "Zen Golf" on Audible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Well the new GHIN exceptional round score rule will most likely go into effect here (would need to know his exact index at time and the differential of the 77 to tell you for sure), so that’ll bring down his handicap considerably. Then again, this is contingent upon the player either posting his scores or the clubs pro shop or golf committee enforcing that scores are being posted. only way to audit sand bagging is to enforce scores get posted when rounds are played. Peer review is so easy now with the new system as is posting with the app, The only excuse is apathy/indifference or malicious intent to break rule. of course every club also has guys who go the other direction. The guy who shoots 83 in any money game or club tournament worth a lick but always manages to post 75 when he’s playing in the afternoons with his kids. ParFore74x
Today was 14 pretty good holes followed by me exploding on 15-18 and tanking the round. I’m still walking away from the course happy today, 14 holes is making good progress for me. Got held up at the turn by a threesome that snuck onto the back without waiting for me to go (I was finishing the 9th as they teed off) which caused a huge delay for me but they let me through on 11. I wish I would have had some stopping power in my approach on 13 too. Ball just rolled right by the hole. I've got to learn to get out of my own head and remember that the golf course is not for swing mechanics. ... Graham McDowells said something like "When swinging well, golf is the easiest sport there is. When swinging poorly it is the most difficult endeavor on the planet". So GS Stroker I think it is the same for most of us and that includes Tour Pros. We all have our own demons and mine is a tight back that throws everything out of whack. Take away feels off and tough to recover from that. Instead of hitting fairways and greens and shooting par or under, I am scrambling to save a 75-78. To me a 78 feels like a 99 because my swing is not sequenced and I am battling myself all round long. Just happened my last 2 rounds. Tour guys shoot a 71 instead of a 65 and I am sure their 71 also feels like a 99 to them. ... I have learned to just deal with whatever I have on the course that day. It doesn't make the round fun, but at least I don't get frustrated trying to get things to work properly. Otoh, the days when everything is in sync and it feels effortless, I also don't try and bottle the feeling or analyze what is working well and what isn't. You can do that on the range of course, but on the course you said it perfectly with just play golf, don't play golf swing. Sometimes easier said than done, but in the end you will be giving yourself more positive feedback and avoiding negative feedback. gavinski91
Really struggled yesterday. Rain kept getting worse as the day went on, and was especially messing with my iron shots. Driver started well and then fell apart on the back nine, and even my safe play 5-iron off the tee wasn't working for me. My frustration was growing exponentially towards the end of the back 9, and on two instances stepped up to 20 foot putts and just casually hit them towards the hole without reading the line or the slope at all (somehow they both went in!). Ended up only hitting 43% fairways and 11% GIR. Despite all my frustrations and multiple blow-up holes, I was very surprised when I got back to the parking lot after the round, checked the scorecard, and saw that I had carded a 96 (net +3). The fact that I can have a round feel that terrible, and yet have my handicap go down by a full point, tells me that I have the opportunity to continue to push my handicap down further this year. Jmikecpa
Tale of two 9’s today. Hit it well on the front and just could not catch a break. I had a 9 iron into 8 that stopped in its pitch mark directly on top of a ridge after a great drive. Made the putt for birdie with a nod to the golf gods but damn I couldn’t catch a break and shot 3 over 40 on the way out. On the way in I made a bad bogey on 11 from the middle of the fairway and then pars the rest of the way until 15, 16, 17 and 18. Closed out my round with 4 birds with the longest putt at 10 feet. 15, 16 and 17 were all within 4 feet. The wedge and iron practice is paying off now to work on the putter a bit more. Good for me that my SeeMore arrived today so will have that in the bag tomorrow. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk cksurfdude, Kenny B, Rickp and 2 others 5 Quote WITB 2024 Driver: Qi10 LS 9* Ltd. Popular Post fozcycle
Had just settled down to watch some golf after playing in a two man red white blue scramble only to get a phone call with some sad information. Tony taught blind kids and handicapped kids how to have fun playing golf. He will be very missed in this community .Tony was in his late 70’s. MattF
4 hours ago, chisag said: ... Hang in there! I think I may have to come to Illinois for a week of lessons with you mate. sirchunksalot and cksurfdude 2 Quote In the bag: Driver: Darkspeed X 9° UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue 7F4 Fairway: Apex UW 19° & 21° Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 5.5 Irons: JPX 923 HMP 5-PW UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: T-22 Denim Copper 48°, 52° & 56° UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter Sycamore 005 Wide Blade Bag: Fairway 14 stand bag Balls: Chrome Tour Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the King, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! MattF
I know I'm breaking the rules for 3 posts in a row...but DILLIGAF... I played like hammered . Shot a 47/45 92. Thought the driver was good on the range but went sideways on the course. I tried a slightly different swing and it has great potential, but playing with people that play worse than me that I don't know just kills my round. I know, I know, excuses, but, I always seem to play better with people I know or better players. sirchunksalot, fozcycle, MaxEntropy and 4 others 7 Quote In the bag: Driver: Darkspeed X 9° UST Mamiya LIN-Q M40X Blue 7F4 Fairway: Apex UW 19° & 21° Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 5.5 Irons: JPX 923 HMP 5-PW UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: T-22 Denim Copper 48°, 52° & 56° UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter Sycamore 005 Wide Blade Bag: Fairway 14 stand bag Balls: Chrome Tour Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the King, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! bluesmandan76
I played 9 yesterday. First time out since November...due to a wrist injury (right hand/trail hand). Played one handed. From the ladies’ tees. Took a few mulligans for absolute mishits (it’s hard swinging onehanded!) and shot a 40. Actually got to putt for eagle on a par 5 (missed it but got my bird). My right wrist is slowly improving. Maybe I will get to play for real in the spring. Slow and steady with the physical therapy...Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk cnosil, MattF, gavinski91 and 1 other 4 Quote Driver: TM M1 9.5* 4W: Wishon bent FLAT Irons: Mizuno MP20MB Wedges: 50/55/60 Mizuno Putter: Evnroll ER2
