How'd you play?

MmmmmmBuddy

Recommended Posts

I played 9 yesterday.
First time out since November...
due to a wrist injury
(right hand/trail hand).
Played one handed.
From the ladies’ tees.
Took a few mulligans for absolute mishits (it’s hard swinging onehanded!) and shot a 40. Actually got to putt for eagle on a par 5 (missed it but got my bird).

My right wrist is slowly improving. Maybe I will get to play for real in the spring. Slow and steady with the physical therapy...

Decent round today.. The flag was not friendly today. Had 2 bounce off, 4 lips outs

Hit some great shots and didn't get rewarded.. Had good looks at birdie today and only made 2.  Putted well..putts were struck where I was aiming just unlucky today. But I like the the consistency.

Not bad 41 / 40.. take the bounce off and the lip outs could have been at least 77/76 today.

Looking forward for tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great a fourth of July!!

9 holes

49

5/7 fairways

0 greens

17 putts

I played my first round of the 2020 Hard Rock Challenge today using the classic bag I put together. I tried hitting the persimmon woods both off the tee and the fairway and it was not pretty, they actually cost me strokes. I topped every shot I tried from the turf and realized pretty quick I need a lot of practice with them. I was really pleased with the irons and they just perform. I hit a couple of wedge shots that flew right at the pin leaving me makeable putts. My shot of the day was sinking a 30 footer on the 9th that salvaged bogey.

That's some terrible news mate. I just read your post to Chanin and choked up a bit. I'm sorry to hear of his passing.

Thanks MattF, Tony loved his “children” he worked tirelessly to bring them a day of joy, disabled and some blind, he showed that they could play golf and have fun.

Played a solid round Thursday, several very good long approach shots and putting on burn't up recently aerated greens very challenging, but my putting is coming around.

Saturday

- 40/46 = 86 (+14)
- 8/15 FIR
- 9/18 GIR
- 37 Putts (2 3-putts, 15 2-putts, 1 1-putt)

Not a lot to say about this round other than I didn't strike anything well and I let my emotions get the best of me. Although I held it together on the front, I three-putted No. 11 and then hit my tee shot OB left on No. 12 and pretty much mentally quit. I was pretty frustrated with myself after the round because looking at the card I could have easily shot an 83 had I just not quit on the round.

Sunday

- 41/39 = 80 (+8)
- 8/15 FIR
- 11/18 GIR
- 36 Putts (1 3-putt, 16 2-putts, 1 1-putt)

Much better round this morning mentally and with the swing. Still was a little off for most of the front nine, but I parred No. 9, which started a string of six-straight pars on holes 9-14.

I couldn't hold the back nine together perfectly, unfortunately. I hit the greenside bunker with my drive at No. 15, and my wedge bounced off the sand instead of sliding under the ball leading to overshooting the green and a bogey. Parred No. 16 after a good drive, but hit an awful drive on No. 17. Punched out perfectly into the fairway with 75 yards to go, but shanked my wedge leading to double bogey.

After several rounds of putting reasonably well, I struggled yesterday and this morning getting speeds right. It's been so hot and humid that the greens are pretty long and soft and I just am coming up short on way too many putts. I had several good birdie opportunities today that I just didn't come close to converting.

I am also starting to be more mindful of nutrition and hydration during my rounds, especially in this really hot and humid weather. I've been taking a Gatorade Zero along with me, and I sip that throughout the round. I've continued eating a Quest Bar before my round, but now have been packing some peanuts for the back nine. I'm finding that I'm playing a lot better with some food in my stomach on the last couple of holes.

Today could have been the round I have been waiting for my whole life. Instead it was just a career best 77 (39/38).

I managed to play the whole round without making any putt over 6' today. I did have 2 3 putts which was disappointing to say the least especially the way I have been putting with the Lucky D lately. What did show up today was the Proto X driver. I found 9/14 fairways and was bombing it all day. I had multiple drives of over 300 leaving quite a few 50/60 yards pitches into greens. I was even pin high on 2 of the par 4 off the tee.
I did manage 2 birdies today but they were gimmes.
I will say that the pxg putter and driver's performance really has my interest piqued to try the irons but that is for another thread!

1 birdie/11 pars

12 GIRs / 9 FIRs

36 putts (4 3 putts...)

I played at RTJ Oxmoor Valley Ridge course. Very pleased with my driving and irons. I just couldn’t gauge the speed on the greens. I kept leaving putts short. I even left an eagle and a birdie putt short on the same hole....frustrating. I’ve been on a nice run of low to breaking 80 over the last 6-7 rounds. Hoping to keep it up!

It was Holiday golf this weekend... well, I took a "holiday" on 4 of the 36 holes, that is.  It was classic social golf as my wife and I were playing with another couple for both days.  I tried to focus on shots, but too much conversation flowing.  Oh well, it was fun... sorta.

Saturday's play:   84 with one birdie and...   a 9 on a par 5 and a 7 on a par 4.
No, on the par 5 I didn't hit OB.  No, I didn't find any penalty areas.  No, I wasn't in any trees.  No, I wasn't in any bunkers.  No, I didn't 3+ putt.  So how did I end up with a quad?  By taking 7 shots to get to the green.  🤣  The triple came on an embedded ball in the face of a bunker.

Sunday's play:   82 with one birdie and 2 doubles... both par 5's.  At least the birdie was on a hole I needed for the 2020 Birdie Challenge.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Looks like there was a lot of accuracy required on those tight fairways. And maybe a forced carry or two over water?!

Nice shooting!

Ice cream is the proper way to end it since you both got hole in ones!

I played with my brother yesterday at my home course. I shot 39/39 for 78. He decided he wanted to play another 9 since we moved right along and finished in a little over 3 hrs. I shouldn't have. It was 89* and humid. I shot 46 on the 3rd 9. 27 holes is too much in that kind of heat.

Looks like your golf has "recovered".  Well done!!

Had a great round this morning with@RollingGreens 38-41, the humidity really killed the ball flight on the last few holes and I got on the bogey train. Now that putter & driver are fixed, irons go wonky, but that's golf.

Got out for a 2 hour and 40 minute round today and played mediocre.  Two bad drives led to doubles and most everything else was ok, but just wasn't as sharp as I'd like.  A lot of good putts today that just went a bit short from falling in as the greens were much slower at this course than others I've been playing.  Best was a 2 putt from 90+ feet on a par 5 that I was on in two.

50/42 was a terrible front but found my game on the back like usual. I blasted a 3 iron 225yrds right into a bunker I usually come up short of with my 3 wood. Not sure how it happend but was my best shot of the day and the fairway bunker wasn't too hard to play out of.
