MattF
Why do I expect good scores during a swing change? (It's a rhetorical question) Shot a 94 in the wind and drizzle yesterday. Popular Post revkev
Don’t have a score to report as we played a goofy rule Nassau with two different formats and a mid round rules alteration due to a passing rogue band from Isaias. It was the assistant pro and a 22 vs my friend who is a 7 and me - I’m currently a 4. The front 9 was a scramble but we were allowed 5 call backs and they 3 we each had 3 mulligans on the front and the back was supposed to be alternate shot. We skipped from 6 to 13 after the rain band came through (my friends house and his scotch are off the 14th green and that’s how we spent the rain delay). We were tied on the front so played in for the full $15, aggregate score, net. I made a nice 8 footer (twice) for par on 18 (net birdie) to win the press. It was a fun afternoon and I hit the ball well. dlow206
Was an interesting round today. Driver swing is missing in action. Started hitting pulls and hooks. Usually a setup or grip issue for me, so its fixable. Iron swing showed up. Made a small feel change and it was like a miracle. Started hitting competent iron shots. It was great. Putting was iffy, got to figure out the short putts. Bunker play was atrocious. Multiple holes where it took multiple shots to get out of the bunker. And when I say getting out of the bunker, twice it was ball first thin shots over the green. AmishJason
After being frustrated at first by being asked to start on the back 9 (I don't care for that half of the course), I ended with my best 9 hole score to date. I'm not a very good golfer yet, but a 54 is way better than a 66. I also hit my 3 hybrid better than any other long club in my bag. I thought I would give that nod to my driver after a beauty of 260 yard draw, but when I got to the next hole, I realized it wasn't my ball that I found in the fairway. Bear with the erratic path on that hole, the tee shot with the 3 hybrid made me giddy. cksurfdude, cnosil, CarlH and 1 other 4 Quote Driver: Cobra Speedzone 10.5 Mitsubishi AV Blue S flex Wood: Cobra Bio Cell 3-4 Grafalloy Pro Launch Blue (low launch original version) S flex Hybrids: Taylormade GAPR 3 KBS graphite shaft Strata 4 and 5 hybrids R flex Irons: Strata 6-PW R flex Wedges: Texan Classics 52, 56, 60 R flex Putter: Odyssey Red Ball mallet Ball: Srixon Q Star Tour

CarlH
The double bogey man was back at it today. +1 on the front (37), then on #12 dogleg right, I put one into the trees near the OB. Hit a provisional and didn't find the first ball -- double bogey. Then on #17, lost another one right and never found the ball (not OB)...went back to the tee box and another double. To add insult to injury, I double bogey 18 to limp in with an 80. Had one birdie for the day -- not enough to make up for the 3 doubles. Club Championship is in 10 days. gavinski91
Last Friday had a decent round on the local course with my brother. Shot a 93 with a few bad holes but overall good play, finished the full 18 holes in 2:42. Went out last night with my brother to do 9 holes after work and was backed up behind a number of incredibly slow groups (including a 3-some of a couple and their ~7 year old daughter, none of whom looked to have ever golfed before). It was without a doubt the slowest round of my life - we would walk up to the tee, sit down for 5 minutes and wait, hit our tee shots, then walk to them and wait for another 5 minutes. Ended up finishing 9 holes in 2:27 (almost as long as the 18-hole round a few days earlier on the exact same course). The slow play and waiting meant I never managed to get into a groove, and couldn't stay warmed up - every swing felt like the first terrible swing when you step onto the driving range. Ended up shooting a 53, and really didn't enjoy the last 3 holes at all. Jmikecpa
Followed up my Friday round at Ballyowen with a 73 at Black Bear on Saturday. Was a bit up and down and had to birdie 17 and 18 to get it into the house at 1 over. Took off Sunday and went back to Ballyowen on Monday and finished with a nice -3 69 to go -9 in my two rounds there. I guess I like the 10th a lot with eagles both times I played it. To the traditional route during the first round and came in with a 5 iron. Round two I went a bit aggressive and was left with a 58* wedge for my second shot. Played Black Bear again today and posted an even keel 72. Highlight was watching my 14 year old son shoot an 81 off the same tees that I played. Popular Post TCUfrog
After stepping off a 5 hour flight from ATL to SFO, we immediately went to the first tee of Pasatiempo. Minimal stretching and no warm up led to a rough start, and then the wind started to pick up. By the time we arrived to the picturesque par 3, 3rd hole, wind was blowing 25-30 mph directly into our face. From then on, it was a grind for our group. Thick marine layer air and strong winds made the 6500 yard track feel like a 7400 yard us open layout. All in all, I tapped in a bogey putt on the 18th to shoot an 86. Beautiful course with diabolical greens and majestic bunkering that I wish Augusta National would go back to. Kenny B
Played Wolf again at the other course in town this morning. Ugh!! 6:30am tee time!! Clubhouse doesn't open until 6am, so not much time to warmup. The course has been neglected since last year when they lost their irrigation pump in the middle of summer. Tee boxes are weeds; greens have mushrooms growing in them. Big difference between this course and my course is how the ball reacts on the green. Our greens are very firm and the ball releases. These greens play soft. When I throw a pitch onto the green it checks hard. At my course the same shot releases 10 feet. Hard to get used to. I shot +4/+7 for an 83 and all bogeys; no doubles or worse. I am happy about that. Driver was straight, which is nice because if it isn't, there is lots of desert areas that are hard to get out of if you can find your ball. Putting was difficult. Hit a putt... ball goes one way; hit another putt... ball goes the other way. So frustrating!! The other guys play here all the time, so they are used to it. I don't like it. The bad news was that I lost 9 quarters. Every time I had a good hole, someone had a better one. That's Wolf for you. So the round with a cart cost me $2.25. Almost not worth it, but the company is great!! cksurfdude, MattF and sirchunksalot 3 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
