How'd you play?

Played for the first time since early July because of SARS restrictions. Considering the layoff and having an early case of the shanks, I played alright.

Ended up with 86, but was already +7 after the first four holes. Better for the run and my putting practice I was able to do whilst away from the course really helped.

I have realized that I have been far too quiet on here recently so here is an update.
I have played 6 official rounds since the end of September and they have been 74 (par 70), 81 (par 72), 83, 84, 85, 83 (par 73) so very consistent . All of my counters for my world handicap are from September onwards so my golf has settled beautifully after my surgery.

Welcome back

The cold must have scars everyone off this morning here. Rolled into the course at about 10 and there was no one there, one person about 6 holes in front and another about 6, holes behind after and that was it. It was uppper 40 with some light breeze but not too bad for this time of year

Played pretty well, first two holes were a slow start going bogey bogey. Recovered with my longest drive all year down wind to 280, of course only made par but still was good. One birdie on the par 5 eighth. Also parred the longest par four by sticking a knockdown 4 hybrid to about 10 feet, though for those keeping score at home I was one roll short of a birdie. Went 39/40 for 79. Game feels solid hopefully one more round before the season ends but if not that was a solid way to end the year.

First is where the long drive went, second the birdie put, then just some views.

I can play golf in the wind and I can play when it's cold, but not when it's both cold and windy.  I don't make good contact when my hands are ice cold.  Old and cold hands is a bad combination.

Could be a fan. We could have gotten a/c that mounts inside roof over the windshield. After almost 9 years I’m good w just the doors for year round use .
This carts almost 4years old and we get a new one every 5 years. I’ll get the doors again but add a roof air vent.

I know a lot of you will give me an eye roll for posting this, but I actually got a little envious reading the last page or so where a bunch of you are talking frost delays and playing autumn golf.

Back on Long Island my favorite weather for golf was the shorts and a pullover kind, and squeezing those rare winter rounds in during a not too freezing January or February day felt like playing with house money.

Don't get me wrong, playing all year down here is great. I don't miss the winters, but the heat just hasn't let up since March this year, and the summer was brutally hot. It's still getting up to 80 every day, and some cooler weather would be really nice. We had one weekend in the low 60's a few weeks ago and it felt great.

I know, I know, this is the last thing you guys up North want to hear someone complaining about though...  😉

Like poop, but not as poopy as last week. It was cold for me at 48° and we ran into the tail end of a junior tournament. Leaves everywhere so lost balls was an issue and the course was wet so it was CPO. I think I'm done for the season.

Its been a rough few weeks playing golf after a month of playing well and heading in the right direction, lost the feel for my drivers, 3wood, hybrids and mostly mid irons... only thing keeping my rounds from not going into the 100s has been my short game and putting. which has been consistent for the past 7 month.

This is the love / hate relationship of golf.

I have no issues playing when it is cold, as long as there is some sunshine to go along and calm winds.

I actually enjoy the cold weather golf.

Yesterday was none of that, the showed up for a second and the wind never stopped blowing, My hands have not felt that cold since I had to change a lower arm suspension assembly from my daughter's car, that she crashed into a curb back in 2012, When she crashed there were about 9 inches of fresh snow on the ground, and for the few hours I was there working, another 6 inches fell.

My hands were purple for awhile after I was done.

My perfect golf weather is high 50s low 60s and sunshine.

... Your post is like a rich guy saying:

I have a summer home and a personal chef but I envy you guys sharing an apartment. I remember college and sharing a 2 bedroom apartment with 3 other guys and eating bologna on white bread sandwiches. Those were awesome times!

i’ve got a winter home in florida and of course this is the first year i’ve golfed and can take advantage of it, and the pandemic has taken a giant steaming turd on those plans. thanks, covid!

Don’t know where you are in FL but most areas if not all are open.

i’m in Boca. it’s less to do with things being open and more to do with not wanting to head down to a high-risk area when i’ve got a newborn at home.

i’d feel like crap going down to enjoy myself and having to stay away from the little guy for 2 weeks when i came back

we’ll head down as a family and spend some time there around christmas, but we won’t go spend the winter like we usually do.

But getting back into NY without quarantining is the issue I would suspect... @Chip Strokes beat me.
