Popular Post edingc
First round of the year! And a new-to-me course as well. First one off after they lifted the frost delay at 11 a.m., had a windy but sunny round in the low 40s. I walked 18, and it was was more hilly than I anticipated. Quite the workout. - 42/41 = 83 (+11) - 6/14 FIR - 5/18 GIR - 28 Putts (1 3-putt, 9 2-putts, 7 1-putts, 1 "putt-in" from fringe) I told myself I would be happy with anything better than a 90 for the first round of the year and I'm very, very pleased with the 83. My swing was not great at all, but my putting and short game are way, way, way improved from technique changes, equipment changes and all of the practice I've put in over the winter. My short game and putting rescued me so many times today, and I got a ton of lucky breaks that saved me a handful of strokes as well. Driver started off straight and pretty long, and everything went downhill from there. A few nice ones out there 260+ carry, with a wind-aided one out to 273 up a hill. Toward the end of the round as I got more tired I wiped a few slices off the planet and snap-hooked a ball that should have gone OB left but was saved by a tree. Oh well! I'll take the breaks. I messed around with the GoPro and cut together three holes. Funny enough, these three holes show off the shakiness of the game today. There's a few chunks, a snap-hooked driver and a stuck wedge in there... . ShotTracerApp seems to be fairly picky about what it picks up, unfortunately. (Watching the video now, I see I started to suck the club inside more as the round progressed and I started to get tired. C'est la vie. ) (EDIT: Also noticed the hole and score tracker are wrong and all the same. Par 3, Par 5, Par 4 is the order - bogey, par, bogey.) tony@CIC
2 hours ago, sirchunksalot said: I got out today for my first 18 hole round of the year with my buddy Ryan. First hole is 340 yards to the green and he nearly drove it. He's not the most consistent, but when he gets a hold of one, it's a thing of beauty. I can only stand back and say "wow". I started off the front well, hitting the fairway, had a 7 iron in which I pushed, chipped you and two putted for bogey. The second hole is a par 3 playing 146 to the pin and I absolutely striped a 6 iron dead at the flag. I thought there might be a chance of it going in, but it wasn't meant to be. The ball ended up 2 feet past the hole and I promptly missed the birdie putt. As you can see, the greens are being aerated and I felt like I had traveled to the Sahaerated Desert. I was +1 after two holes, then the wheels came off. On 3 I pull hooked a drive into higher grass and I promptly made the bad decision to try hitting a 3 wood because I thought the lie wasn't that bad. It might have traveled 5 feet. Took another whack, this time getting 50% more distance than the previous attempt. I took a 9 on that hole and things didn't get better. My driver had abandoned me along with my fairway woods, but I was encouraged with how I was hitting my irons. I ended the front with a 55. After the turn, we arrive at my least favorite hole...the 10th. It's a dogleg left par 4 with a line of trees down the left hand side that my golf balls are attracted to. There's also sharks with laser beams in the pond to the right. Thank you to the podcast "Chasing Scratch" for that reference. I hit driver center of the fairway, blocked a 7 iron, then nearly chipped in for the bird. Unfortunately, the ball ricocheted off the flag and I two putted from 12 feet for the bogey. I played much better on the back, shooting 48 and hitting 5/7 fairways. I don't have any other stats, as Arccos didn't pick up a shot. I ended off the round on a positive note, nearly holing a birdie chip on the 18th, but leaving a tap in par. Could have been a better round, but getting out and playing with my friend made it the most fun I've had on the course in a long time. That's what it's all about. Popular Post fixyurdivot
38/43 at Mesa Del Sol. 8 consecutive pars on the front. Wind at our back on the par 5 #9. I've only reached the lake off the tee once before - 292 yards from todays tee based on my V2. Forge the drive on a line that takes the skinny neck to the left of the water but, the added distance from wind has it land on the downslope and... yup... to the water. We all watch yelling for it to STOP. It dosen't listen. Shot #3 now 189 yards over the lake to the front pin and 179 to carry the water. 5w right at the flag but a whisker fat, catches the top of the slope out of the lake, won't stay put... yup... rolls back into the water. Chip up, 2 putt for a DB . Back nine got a little loose on two holes but this was my best ball striking day of the winter season. I only hit one fat 8i and one fat 56/12. Everything else was very well struck and good yardage. The KBS TD driver shaft continues to shine . Popular Post Kenny B
My wife and I played this morning after an hour frost delay. Bright sunny day and while the temp was a little chilly, I warmed up quickly on the range. I had to shed my outer layer before the first tee. When we made the turn, I was down to my polo shirt and wished I had worn shorts. Tomorrow!!! My driver worked well today, 12/13 fairways, but second and third shots... not so much. I only hit 4 GIR, but I birdied 3 of them, all over 10 feet. Those 3 birdie putts were the only decent putts I had all day; my worst putting round this year. I normally don't leave putts short, but today I just couldn't get a putt to the hole. I had 34 putts with one 3-putt. I felt like I played pretty crappy, but when we finished I shot 42/39 for 81 (my wife keeps score). PMookie
I went to play yesterday after being told the course was wide-open, but after 4 holes I ended-up two groups behind a fivesome that was holding-up everyone. Ugh. I ended-up turning off the Arccos and just practiced around the greens and hit pitches while I waited each hole. I tried to skip past two groups at 10, thinking I’d come back and play 10-12, but I ran into ANOTHER fivesome holding-up everyone on the back! Ugh. Pros down here don’t combine singles with twosomes or threesomes, or combine twosomes, so it’s easy to get logjams. Anyway, all of the extra practice will help, and I did find my iron swing late, so it was a good day. cciciora13, sirchunksalot, Vegan_Golfer_PNW and 6 others 9 Quote Driver: Ping G430 Max 9*, Ping Tour 70X Fairway: Ping G425 15*, Ping Tour 70X Hybrid: Ping G425 22*, Ping Tour 80X Irons: Ping i230 4-GW, TT DG X100 Wedges: SMS 50D/54V/58DModus 130 stiff, +1” Putter: EAS 1.0 Ball: Titleist 2023 AVX
CarlH
Played yesterday and shot a 42/41. Still working on my swing changes and that often results in some really bad shots. Putting was so-so today. Shot of the day was on the par 5 #16 where I hit a crappy drive into the trees, was able to punch out toward the green, then stuffed an 8 iron to 2 inches from the pin for the KP and bird. Tom the Golf Nut
Played again this morning. So far this year is starting off very promising. Yesterday I was coming up short but chipping and putting were good so I pulled off a 73 without any birdies. Today I was hitting longer and came in with a 71. Three bogeys and three birdies. For the first time in years i had an opportunity for an eagle. But birdie was meant to be. Travel restrictions were lifted for work. So flying up to Kansas City for the week tomorrow. Probably sneak in some Top Golf. cksurfdude, cnosil, sirchunksalot and 4 others 7 Quote Driver, TSi 1 S Flex 3 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 7 Wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 Hybrid King Tec MMT R Flex Irons, Tour UST Recoil 95 R Flex (6 - Gap) Wedges, Snakebite KBS Hi- Rev2.0 54* & 60* Agera 35" Ultralight 14-way Cart Bag

My wife was bugging me to go get it checked. But Im stubborn. All they would have done was put me in a boot or something. Then I couldn't drive. But its better now. sirchunksalot, cciciora13, cksurfdude and 3 others 6 Quote Driver, TSi 1 S Flex 3 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 7 Wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 Hybrid King Tec MMT R Flex Irons, Tour UST Recoil 95 R Flex (6 - Gap) Wedges, Snakebite KBS Hi- Rev2.0 54* & 60* Agera 35" Ultralight 14-way Cart Bag
Popular Post cciciora13
Felt good to get back out on the course yesterday. Driver was a little sporadic (usually best club in the bag) but started hitting my new 3 wood well. Shot 39 with a birdie on the 9th. Putter still needs to get better. Had 2 other chances around 10-12 feet that I missed. Overall really nice day walking 9 and having a few beers with some sunshine with my buddy! cnosil, Tom the Golf Nut, sirchunksalot and 7 others 10 Quote In my bag: Driver: Ben Hogan GS53 10.5* Stiff Mitsubishi tensei blue Stiff 3 Wood: 939 x 15 deg. fozcycle
That was still slightly better then my round today. 47 on the front and 45 on the back. My problem today was the constant waiting.. Waiting on the tee, then on the fairway.....It was just my wife and myself but even though the round took just over 4 hrs., it seemed like we were out for six hours. Then on the last two holes the 4some in back was hitting into us . Last time we may be playing on the weekend. Yeah, but you didn’t have to clean the sh$t off your shoe and glove.Sent from my iPad using MyGolfSpyCobra Speedzone Extreme (11.5*) w/ Mitsubishi Tense av Blue Regular; 3W & 5W Cobra King F8 w/ Mitsubishi Tense ck Blue Regular shafts; Tour Edge CBX119 22* Hybrid w/Project X Evenflo Regular shaft; Wilson Staff D-7 5-PW + GW + SW w/UST Mamiya Recoil 460 Regular graphite shafts; Cleveland RTX Zipcore LW(58*) w/DG Spinner shaft. Popular Post RollingGreens
Walked 9 this morning at about 40deg. Played decent. It was my first time out this year. Couple yips in the first few holes but really picked up after the 3rd hole. Felt good to get the driver going. New irons were fantastic once I found my feet. Such great feel to them. Great shots piercing through some tough winds. Didn’t put great but the greens were still punched from aeration in the fall. Playing18 next Sunday prior to vacation in Hilton head where I will play 2 more times. Didn’t keep score today it was all about getting the feel back MattF, tony@CIC, Kenny B and 9 others 12 Quote Stealth 2 Plus 9deg Kai' li Red Stealth 2 13deg Aldilla Rogue Silver Stealth 2 15deg Aldilla Rogue Silver JPX 921 Hot Metal 4-PW Nippon Modus 120s SM8 54 and 58deg Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Titleist ProV1 Hoofer Stand Bag Stewart Q Follow Electric Caddie 300 PRO Rangefinder Official Nippon Regio B+ Driver Shaft Review Official Stewart Q Follow Review
