Yea that is pretty wild, even here after a cool winter the grass goes dormant but it still does not get fully brown like that, still is slightly green

I get exited to play and when I turn into the course I see the brown grass it just gets me a little depressed. Its also a little tough to play off of. Everything in the fairway is a tight lie.

The rough is a different type of grass than the fairway. The rough stays green all year. The fairways go dormant after first frost and then start to turn green again after there are no more frost mornings. Should start turning green in about two to three weeks. The greens are a different grass as well.  They are green all year.

I love playing on dormant bermuda; better than when it's green actually.  Loved River Islands east of Knoxville.

Played there a lot. About 10 minutes from where I work.  It had its ups and downs over the past 5 years or so. I think it sold twice in that time frame. Now its called Island Pointe Golf Club.

It was the first place that I played with dormant bermuda.  The turf in the fairway was like hitting off a bristle brush; the ball sat up so nice.  Good for a beginner 20 some years ago!!

I think I am headed back this year, maybe next, and it's on my list to play again.  Love the out and back layout.

Today was a cold (50’s) kinda day. A bogey kinda day, except for my one Birdie on the Par 5 #8 hole. As it was backed up at 8:00 this morning, we jumped and played the back nine first. I ended up with a 43/46:89.

A few days late but on Wednesday I got out and shot a best ever score of 85! Didn't really do anything incredible, just played pretty solid golf and was able to scramble when I did get in trouble. No birdies, but only one triple, two doubles, and a bunch of pars and bogeys. Putting is normally my strongest part but had been miserable recently (one round with three 4-putts) but felt good again. Chipping was solid and left myself with some short ones which led to 5 holes with 1 putt or less and 31 total putts for the round. Previous best was 87 and going to par 5 18th at 79 really wanted to get 85. Don't think I hit a shot more than 100 yards on that hole but got up and down for bogey. Now I just need to get in enough work with driver so I can hit that off the tee instead of 3-wood every time!

Good for you!

Played first round of the season yesterday .. shot 95, I had 7 lip out putts so could of scored better but that is how it goes sometimes ...  up and down day had the driver working and mess up a chip or mess up a shot and then chip it next to the hole couldn't get all my clubs on the same page.

Here are just two of the reasons I don’t walk the course much. I wonder if those electric trolleys can handle these? There are about 7 holes that have dramatic elevation changes. There are no flat holes everything has an elevation change up or down and some holes have both and a few have three changes.

Not sure about all electric ones but the MGI Zip Navigator (mine has a 24V battery) unquestionably can! Plenty of torque and power, and very stable, too. Try one 😉

More good news to report...

Got in the second 9-hole round of this season on an incredible Spring-like day - so, yeah, *everyone* was out and the round was kinda slow .. our start time was pushed back like 20 minutes - but I was hitting the ball pretty well so it was all good!

Two firsts for me:
1. missed a green long on the fly
(8i and GPS watch said 154 to back edge .. slightly downhill and downwind);
2. drove a green
(4W from just over 200 and ball rolled onto the front).

Also hit or nearly hit most other greens; iron and wedge play are really starting to show good improvement.

Of course, all this wonderfulness had to be counter-balanced by something 😉 - had trouble matching up line + speed while putting... Felt like most of my strokes made were on my intended line but burned a bunch of edges; had one total mis-read on a birdie chance where the ball rolled in the total opposite direction when it got near the cup (made the par save .. whew!). 3-putted a few times, too - which I kinda "expect" on this course with its very sloped and contoured (aka treacherous, deceiving, conniving) greens. But offset that with a few decent lag putts up and over some of those maniacal slopes 🙂

Oh, PS:
My lovely wife / golfing partner .. who claims she's not competitive yet beat me soundly in our on-going putting contest = fewer putts per round .. won the right to buy happy hour! 😊🍺🍷

Thanks, no worries about jumping in. That's what we're all about.

Its not as heavy as I thought it would be with the battery. I guy at my club had an older competitor model and it took two people to get it out of the trunk. It used a car type battery. Technology, got to love it. Still pretty pricey at roughly $1500 though. I would also need the down hill automatic braking feature. I think i could pick up a good used club car for a few hundred more.

Well now, I may just have to keep the new sticks in the box until the current mojo on the G410's wanes. Do you think it possible clubs get a "sense" of change in the wind? 🙂

39/42 at Desert Hills today. B2B rounds with some solid ball striking and some long (for me) drives.  Just on the apron on the 505 yard par 5 #6 in two and putted for the Big Bird - rolled right up to the cup and stopped short a couple of inches. I have added a new pre-shot routine, between my ears, reminding myself of tempo (so important for me).  I played with a young guy (late 20's I'm guessing), from Kentucky, who is with the National Guard and here on a one year assignment assisting Border Patrol.  He hit it a ton... nearly drove the 310 yard #13 with a 3w 😲.  Great company and fun round.

I remember those!  about 20 years ago, I bought a Kangaroo.  Was able to store it at the club, so no worries.  When I moved here, they said no room to store it for me, so I had to schlep it back and forth in the car.  That didn't last long and I sold it!  Weighed a ton with that big 6V battery.

Played 3rd 9 of 2021 and mirrored a lot of my rounds so far. Couldn't hit the driver on a few holes and had to scramble. Had a 3 putt while mulling over a swing change and not devoting attention to the 4 foot comeback. Parred the next hole. Then took an ugly ugly ESC 8 by nearly hitting an iron lay up in the water, chipping it out, thinning a short iron into a bunker and taking 2 to get out of the sand.

Of course that was the 9th hole and was on pace to end with a 45 with a par... instead ended with a 48. Bah.

Played at The National at Ave Maria yesterday and shot a lackluster 96. 77% of fairways on the front and 11% on the back...dunno what happened.

Shot Scope doesn't have the course mapped because it's brand new, so I tracked it for them and they'll use my raw data to start mapping it. Looking at Google, there's nothing on the satellite view.

I'm writing a small review and posting a lot of pics that I took in the Courses section. I'll add a link to it here when I'm done.

Two questions

What course did you play?

How much does the  MGI Zip Navigator weigh and is it easy getting out of the trunk of a car.

This was at an Executive 9 hole in Port Washington, NY - Harbor Links. Short but presents plenty of obstacles and challenges off the tee (in addition to the homicidal greens 😂). One advantage that day was the wind was very light!

Sorry to jump in, but listed below is the folded dimensions and weight.

- FOLDED DIMENSIONS (INVERTED REAR WHEELS): 27.55' x 18.5' x 16.5' INCHES

- WEIGHT (NO BATTERY): 28.6lbs

- WEIGHT (WITH BATTERY): 34.96lbs

Good info! Yeah it's heavy but not overly so. Very easy to detach the battery and carry it separately, eg. back into the garage for recharging. Also, depending on your vehicle, the rear wheels can be popped off and turned around (for the "Inverted" dimensions above).

Yes, pricey but should last many seasons with very little maintenance!
