Popular Post Kenny B
I haven't played since I got back from Monte's clinic on Tuesday. I've been on the range, and it hasn't been pretty... well, maybe pretty ugly. Meanwhile, my wife played in the Ladies league on Wednesday morning and this morning. She had made us a tee time when we got home from SoCal for today, but the earliest time we could get was 1:22pm. She finished her 18-hole round at 11am; I met her for lunch, then we went back to the course for our tee time. She hit some career drives; much further than anything I've seen since we joined this club. I guess she really got something out of Monte's clinic... I'm in big trouble. Popular Post GolfSpy_BNG
I FINALLY get to post in this thread again! WooHoo! I went back out tonight and played a full 9. Went a whole lot better than I expected with a 38 even after missing a 4 foot birdie putt on the last hole! The 0211 driver was on point and the putter was great with the exception of the last hole. I had 14 total putts(only 1 putt under 12’), hit 4/7 fairways and 1 of the 3 misses was because I drove the green and ended up on the back fringe. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s round! Popular Post CarlH
Day 2 of our 2-man tournament is in the books. It was a 2 man scramble, requiring 7 drives from each player. My partner had trouble getting his drives in and we ended up taking several less than desirable drives while abandoning much better drives in order to get his drives in. Sadly, we didn't play well at all. We couldn't seem to get our approach shots close enough for birdie opportunities. Couple that with 4 bogies and we come in with a 74. Popular Post ncwoz
Played my first solo round of the year! Really windy, so decided to just take it as a practice round and see how it went. Shot 15 over, which is technically only +3 my handicap, and lots of promising signs! Had a few really good drives (including a 333yd bomb with said wind at my back!), and some really solid approach shots. Short game was definitely the most shaky, as I'd expect. Lots of chips ended up further from the hole than I'd like, and some work to be done to get my distance control back with the putting. Excited to finally get the season started! Popular Post GolfSpy_BNG
Not nearly as good of a round this morning. Took a while to get loose with temps starting out in the high 30’s. Managed 43/40 83 with only one birdie and 2 OB penalties. The driver continues to impress. My BIL even commented about how the ball seems to rocket off the face. I was hitting my normal spots on the course even at the lower than normal temps. Wedge play hurt me today as I never gave myself any real makeable opportunities. dlow206
Didn't keep score today. It was my first time out with my new iron shafts (Accra 95 ICWTs) and the greens were just punched earlier this week. Struggled for the first few holes. Was hitting my irons with the new shafts thin. I almost never hit the ball thin, almost always fat. These shafts are 20 grams lighter than what i was playing previously. Later on in my round, started to hit my irons really well. Was hitting GIRs, and having birdie looks. Didn't make any of those birdie putts with the punched greens. My ball flight was significantly better with the Accra 95s, nice higher trajectory (i need height) but also stronger ball flight. With the Modus 120s, I felt like i was always hitting weak, low iron shots. I know shafts aren't supposed to make a huge difference, but the new shafts made a really big difference. I think the Modus 120s were too heavy for me. Popular Post sirchunksalot
Work it being a beautiful 70 degree day, I took the opportunity to get out and at least get nine holes in. After my range session yesterday, I was feeling like I could conquer the world. I had an 11:50 tee time and when I got there the starter told me if I wanted, I could play immediately if I started on the back. I've probably mentioned that I hate number 10. I mean really, really hate it. The tee shot has trees lining the left of the fairway and the hole slightly doglegs left. This shot intimidates me, I'm not going to lie. To make it worse, this is my first shot of the day. I hit the fairway, and that was the highlight of my round. It went severely downhill from there. Shot a 59, I don't have Arccos stats for the third straight round as it wasn't picking up shots. But I'll tell you that the only thing I had going for me was my greenside wedge game. Driver wasn't horrible, but I can't say it was spectacular either. I almost walked of the course in the 14th it was so bad and by the 17th I was ready to throw my clubs off a cliff with them on fire. Then I got to the last hole where I hit a good drive, a decent 3 wood, then I shanked a 6 iron and a wedge. I got to the ball, settled down thinking about the Planemate and exiting low and hit the flag from here. Tapped in for bogey, but left the course feeling better about my game. That's the beauty of this game, you can go from I don't know why I'm doing this to I love this game! Went to the range afterward to work things out and hit a bucket and a half. I hit more good shots than bad and am looking forward to the next time I get out to play. Met a guy there named John and really enjoyed talking to him. He was absolutely crushing a Ping G425 and I had fun talking about his fitting for it and golf nerdery in general. edingc, Nunfa0, cksurfdude and 11 others 13

Popular Post Kenny B
Today my range warmup wasn't great, so I went to the 1st tee apprehensive. My wife and I played with the better half of a couple we usually play with. He is recovering from knee replacement. She's a good player with the same H.I. as me and routinely outdrives me from the same tees. I posted early this week that the course punched the greens on Monday and Tuesday. They were terrible for putting... one of the strengths of my game. So, my score below includes three 3-putts. Generally, the punches took out much of the break that I'm used to seeing, and putts had to be aggressive or they wobbled off line quickly. The 1st hole is an easy short par 4 and I bogeyed it. However, I played pretty well on the front nine with a birdie on the par 5 #6 and no doubles. Shot +4 for a 41. On the par 4 #10, a hole I didn't birdie all last year, I chipped in; my 3rd birdie on that hole so far this year. I also birdied the short par 4 #14; nearly made a sandy eagle! Shot +2 for a 37 and no doubles; had to make a 6 footer to save bogey on #18. A nice round of 78. Popular Post DiscipleofPenick
41/39 no birdies for my first official round of the season. We had 2-3 inches of snow on Thursday so the course hasn't been mowed since Wed. Even though it was the low 60s there was a cool 3 club wind out of the north that pushed every shot right. All par 5s at the course play going north. So a hole that is normal hybrid-4i was Driver-3w today. I just didn't try and fight it, once I figured out what the wind was doing let it go. sp0rtsfan86
After a two week hiatus due to rain and cold I got back out yesterday. Didn't sleep well Saturday and woke up with a knot in the hamstring and some low back tightness. Ended up carding a 50 where nothing went right. Missed putts (lots of 30 footers left to 6-7 feet), multiple blown chips, a few really nice irons followed by duds of chips/pitches. Basically everything was out of whack. Think I'm going to go on a stretching/rolling program to try to get my lower area back to order. Popular Post GolfSpy AFG
Played Saturday, won't share the score here because it's damn embarrassing. I will say I'm close though, hit plenty of good shots but my misses were bad...blow-up holes. Just tending to get out of sequence and race the club down from the top before I've cleared the hips...leads to some dead pulls. Not discouraged, just more determined...
