Popular Post Golfspy_CG2
So I played my first round since November and obviously my first round post Covid setback. I guess the fact I am able to play and that I finished 18 holes is a something to be pleased with and I am. But it proved post Covid game snd strength and stamina both have a long way to go. I’ll post the 109 i shot here as hopefully it will be something I can quote this post in 3 months or so and see how far I came in the comeback. It was filled with penalty strokes (11) as I just didn’t have the strength or distance to carry some hazards—and I even played the Senior Tees which are about 5800. Drove the ball horribly—except for the last hole...isn’t that the way it always goes. Iron play tough to judge as I had many hybrids and 5 woods in for second shots. But it was Ok for the first round with the irons. Putter was actually pretty good. Put the old reliable Tyne 4 in play over my two new ones, as I wanted to have at least one club I had confidence in. I was totally exhausted by about the 13th hole. But I managed to keep up and the guys I played with were great in knowing my circumstances. I need more time on the range obviously and a workout of sorts to build some strength back up. But hoping to make strides from here Peaksy68, MattF, fixyurdivot and 12 others 10 5 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

ncwoz
New to me course, with probably the best tee to green game I've ever had - just didn't have it going with the flat stick. 41/42: 83 (+11, net +1) 9/16 FIR 9/18 GIR 37 Putts I missed 10 putts within 20 feet either for birdie or to save par - and putting is usually my strength! I don't expect to even hit the majority within that range, but there were a ton of make-able looks that just didn't go down. I started off with bad reads, and towards the end of the round just started to doubt the line. However, my tee and approach game was phenomenal. I had one driver I lost OB right on the front, everything else was really really tidy (for me). Irons were really pure and I was really consistent off the tee mostly with my driving iron but solid when I pulled driver too. I'm a little bummed I couldn't take advantage on the greens, but to score 1 over my HCP on a new course I really can't complain too much no matter how it happens! MaxEntropy
Played a short, par 34 course today - it's a pretty nice layout and is home to the Akron First Tee. Only 1 par 5 and three par 3's. Most of the par 4's are in the 280-300 range, so I used 3W on every hole but the par 5. Managed to hit all 6 fairways! I was left with a lot of partial wedges that weren't all that great. Ended up +4 (thanks mostly to ending up in bunkers in two of the par 3's), but really pleased with the way I was hitting 3W (and the one driver). Popular Post CarlH
Played the front nine fairly decently -- couple of putts that I shouldn't have missed, but shot a 39. TBS
Late recap - 5/14/21 RTJ Oxmoor Valley, Ridge 86 (42/44); 5 FIR; 7 GIR; 35 putts; 10 chips; 1 Bird; 3 penalties First round in a month where I couldn't find my driver swing. Felt like I just lost the feel but it made me go with a fairway finder hybrid off the tee a few times, which turned out really well. I'll be playing this shot more. Putter finally got hot on the back 9 and started make some putts. Short game is slowly getting there. Irons were pretty good. 1 hosel rocket which lead to a penalty but the other 2 penalties were just dumb mistakes. Not necessarily bad shots. Biggest goal was achieved - have fun. A very enjoyable walk with the sun setting. Popular Post edingc
Saturday 9 - 44 (+8) - 1/8 FIR - 4/9 GIR (1 birdie) - 19 Putts (3 3-putts, 4 2-putts, 2 1-putts) Tough round. I underestimated how cold it was outside (~40-ish when I teed off) and couldn't get comfortable with any part of my game. I did have a very nice drive, pitch and putt on No. 13 for birdie. Sunday 18 - 42/36 = 78 (+6) - 3/15 FIR - 8/18 GIR (2 birdies) - 30 Putts (1 3-putt, 11 2-putts, 5 1-putts, 1 chip-in birdie) This morning's round started out rough but on No. 3 tee I finally got my hands feeling comfortable on the club. Two rough holes on the front (doubled No. 3 after hitting fairway with my tee shot, three-putted No. 8 after hitting the green with my tee shot) brought my score up. Saved a wonderful par on No. 11, chipped in for birdie on No. 12 and birdied No. 14. Was -2 on the back heading to No. 16, but my 18-foot par putt lipped out on 16, and I just burned an edge from 7 feet on No. 17 to walk away with another bogey. Parred 18 after a nice drive. Overall, a really solid round. I was very good with my driver and putter, irons weren't awful. Popular Post analyticandrew
Got an unplanned 18 in yesterday with my personal caddie and driver (my 16 year old daughter and my 10 year old son) with me. Best round I’ve had in 15 years (in terms of score) at least. Wheels fell off, on the back nine (last three holes specifically). Bogey, par, birdie (was on front edge of a par 5 in two), bogey, bogey, bogey finish. I was almost paying TOO much attention to my score. Got in my own head. -Tree trouble on 16 (drive pulled left, hit a tree on second shot, hit a different tree on third shot into the green side bunker, great bunker shot and made the putt) -Had to take a penalty drop on 17 (par 3) as I airmailed the green and was by a tree trunk -Hit a chunky half wedge into the front bunker on 18 after a perfect 5 iron into the middle of the fairway (340 yard par 4 where fairway ends at ~240). Still best round I've scored in a very very long time. I hit almost every GIR on the front nine. I used my brain more and played smart and also hit a couple putts. I also realize just how much better I play when I walk. (Son and daughter drove the cart most of the round) Also, I track how long my putts are and I made 81' of putts in total which is really really good for me. Lol. Popular Post GolfSpy_SHARK
My allergies hit me hard starting Friday afternoon. Didn’t matter if I was 50’ or 5’, lag putting was really good today. With how congested I was I didn’t take the time to get down and do my normal reads so I Probably left a few birdies/ para out there. 41/43 with an 8 on the first hole (started on the back) I realized quickly it wasn’t a full swing day. par 3’s were my friend as I pard all 4 best hole was a layup par 5, love the 3wood that 2nd shot is straight up hill after you cross the river so was about 240 edingc, russtopherb, tony@CIC and 7 others 10 Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? Popular Post RollingGreens
A tale of 2 stories, walked 18 yesterday and today, 89 yesterday Driver has been great and irons into greens are better hitting more greens but not leaving myself in the ideal spot to capitalize. Starting going with the center of the green approach hen the pin is tucked away which is helping. My short game still needs a lot of work- chipping and putting, being 20 feet away from the green and still having a 10 foot putt or worse is a bad formula to eliminate strokes, I rarely one putt. Im putting in more work for chipping and putting. Today shot 100, I walked again which may have been a mistake because fatigue caught up to me, 46 on the front I had back to back pars on 8 and 9, my playing partner goes that's crazy I can't believe you didn't have a par earlier in the round, 3 times in 4 holes I was on in 2 and didn't walk away with one par. On the back I chalk it up to fatigue, my driver went to heck, didn't hit one fairway, after the bogey on 10 I doubled every hole. it was a disaster and my game management was suspect today, I thought I was the worlds best bunker player trying top hit the green from 160 yards or more multiple times. I know what I need to work on going forward, especially having a good grasp on my driver and irons is making it easier to focus on putting and chipping GolfSpy_SHARK, MattF, sirchunksalot and 7 others 10 Quote Stealth 2 Plus 9deg Kai' li Red Stealth 2 13deg Aldilla Rogue Silver Stealth 2 15deg Aldilla Rogue Silver JPX 921 Hot Metal 4-PW Nippon Modus 120s SM8 54 and 58deg Dynamic Gold Wedge Flex Scotty Cameron Newport 2 Titleist ProV1 Hoofer Stand Bag Stewart Q Follow Electric Caddie 300 PRO Rangefinder Official Nippon Regio B+ Driver Shaft Review Official Stewart Q Follow Review

Popular Post bens197
Walked a quick 9 while my wife took a break and my daughter took her nap. 2 over...Birdied the first hole, hit one to 6' on two and then decided that clearly, I was Tour material for this round Jokes aside, I hit 6 greens and just felt like a nice and smooth day on the course. Popular Post ejgaudette
Got out for 9 yesterday as they had a tournament starting at 8 and didn't want to hold anyone up. Have been working to find the delivery of the driver swing after hitting very week and very wipey fades with way toouch launch and spin. First drive of the day was 255 just falling right in 37° weather so I took it. Driver stayed solid being able to control it better and get some better distance through the first seven holes. At that point I was going around pretty well. Three over nothing too special, just pars and bogeys. Then it happened. I hit the drive and had the holey speed training has been all about. Number 8 is a par five at a little over 500 an was playing about 505. Its tough to ever get close to the green in two unless you hit a long ball with water from about 90 to 30 yards out from the front edge. This round was a different story I hit the best and longest drive of my life by about 15 yards. Right off the face it just took off and kept going and even with dewy fairways took a nice first bounce. Ended up 295 yards away in the fairway. Lefte with 215 out. Finally I could go for the green, hit my 3 hybrid pulled it a bit and expected to find the bunker but it carried and kicked a bit right pin high on the green. The best part I sank the 12 footer for eagle on the last roll. My first eagle on year and first on a par five. Did I bogey the last you bet, but couldn't care less. Ended up at 38 for the nine and feeling good. russtopherb, Mtbryant01, Peaksy68 and 12 others 13 2 Quote Epic Max LS 9° Ventus Blue 6X (2021 Official Review) | Epic Speed 18° Evenflow Riptide 70g 6.0 816 H1 21° Diamana S+ Blue 70 S | SMS 4-5/SMS Pro 6-PW Steelfiber i95 S (2023 Official Review) Glide 4.0 50°.12°S/54°.14°W/58°.6°T PING Z-Z115 Wedge Flex | SOFT 11S Super Stroke Mid-Slim 2.0 Hoofer Bag | Pro V1 | Right Handed | Tracked by V3
Popular Post Kenny B
Crappy! I've gone two weeks without losing a ball; took them out of play because they were getting rather shabby looking. Today? Lost 4 balls; two of them new PV1x on my way to an 89. 'nuff said. I might have to take two weeks off, then quit! Popular Post MattF
Looks like the lessons are paying dividends. After the last outing a couple of weeks ago (102), I walked 18 at Windmill and shot an 87. +11 on the front and +6 on the back. 44% fairways on the front and back, while not great, is so much better than it has been. Popular Post ncwoz
Personal best from the back tees at a course I play pretty frequently. And they had the greens rolling fast as well as some really tough pins; I think they had some sort of tournament going on earlier in the weekend. 38/43: 81 (+9, net -4) FIR: 6/14 GIR: 9/18 Putts: 34 Especially with the tough pin placements, I'm thrilled to go this low. And my buddy and I were both running out of steam down the back 9 because we didn't bring enough water and snacks, which lead to a few mental lapses. I was hitting it sooo pure, which just feels so darn good. A couple times I took the back of the green yardage because of a back pin and sailed the green, leaving myself short sided. My only triple of the day came after thinning a sand wedge over the green, which hit the cart path and bounced 10 feet back into some thick woods. Just a silly mental lapse tendency I get towards the back end of rounds where I'll be talking to my playing partner about something other than golf and just don't take a minute to focus on the shot before I line it up. Same thing happened on the par 3 17th, a 200ish yard tricky par 3. I flared it so far right I ended up hitting a provisional (which I was actually focused on, and hit it to about 20 feet of course), found my original and was fortunate to come away with bogey. All in all fantastic day. I'm not letting myself think too much about what it could have been, because it was still my best from those tees with a ton of really great shots. I was on two different par 5s in two shots, which I think is a personal best for me as well! Popular Post cksurfdude
My last few rounds have been kinda, ummm, interesting... It's been Hero vs Zero, Stud vs Dud, Hot vs Not, On vs Off, ..., well .. you get the idea... Very little in-between! Even my wife - who usually thinks almost any of my golf shots look "good" to her - remarked she hasn't been seeing many middle-of-the-road / mediocre shots. This is not round to round -- this is hole to hole. And this applies to every club in the bag ... only the putter has been somewhat steady through a round, although there have been too many 3-putts (rarely a major error; typically a slight mis-read or a slight mis-stroke). Playing from the forward/Senior tees (67.8/130, 5730 yds) I can make a Par or I can make a Double or Triple (or some sort of "Other"!)... Anyway, on the bright side here's a "there's a first time for everything" highlight ... This a (-potential-) Eagle Putt (!!!) on a short Par 5 (or a really long, for me, Par 4) at about 432 yds from those Green tees (the course has other Par 5s over 500 yds). Nailed the tee shot, got some rollout and caught a bit of a downslope, too; then nailed the second shot (5 hybrid) to the front left of the green and the ball rolled up a little further. And, yep... juuust missed the approx 15ish foot slightly uphill then slightly downhill and strongly left-to-right breaker, but had an easy birdie (or par). Def not disappointed with it, tho, as I'm pretty happy with having pulled off those two nice shots in a row - especially the approach shot! You can see a bit of bunker on the left, and behind it cutoff in the pic is a higher fescue covered mound; you can see the green is longer than wider, and everything slopes to the right towards the water. Another positive (to offset the grouchiness at the start ) is I'm starting to hit .. occasionally .. my 7i nicely; used it on two approaches in my last round and hit the green both times (whoo-hoo!). edingc, sirchunksalot, bens197 and 9 others 11 1 Quote WITB of an "aspiring" play-ah ...
