Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
Well no one was home so the golf gods were calling me. Finished up work at 11:45 and was on the course at 12:15. Low and behold no one was there. Beautiful day, sunny, 79 degrees and I had the course to myself. I didn't see anyone until I was on 17 and then I saw a twosome on 10. I've been playing pretty good this season and putting was always a strength but today I stunk the putting up. Still scored well but should have been much better. I missed something like 4 birdie putts within 4 feet or less. I played Sunday at my course and shot a wonderful 69. Then got to meet up with Sirchunksalot on Monday for a round and managed a 75 on an unknown course. Started off with a double and then two back to back bogies. Got my act together after that and parred the rest of the front nine. Had a better back nine with one bogey and two birdies. Today I was one under going into 18 and chunked my approach. I was trying to be creative and hit the ball higher due to the pin location being behind the trap. Note to self... go for the center of the green. Wound up with a bogey for an even par round of 71. yungkory, BKordon, MaxEntropy and 12 others 15 Quote Driver, TSi 1 S Flex 3 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 7 Wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 Hybrid King Tec MMT R Flex Irons, Tour UST Recoil 95 R Flex (6 - Gap) Wedges, Snakebite KBS Hi- Rev2.0 54* & 60* Agera 35" Ultralight 14-way Cart Bag
Popular Post Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Played a practice round testing a more forgiving driver setup. Only planned on a quick nine but turned into a quick 18. Didn’t fully keep score but think I roughly got 100. Had a birdie and 3 pars on the front for I think a 44. Back nine was worse at 56. On front nine positive SG on approach and putting. On back nine everything went to crap. Really need to focus on aligning putts better. Missed some short ones I shouldn’t have. Also struggling hooking my irons. Really need to work on face control at the range. Popular Post Chip Strokes
got to play montauk downs today! played just OK, and shot 98 but i was happy to break 100 in windy, foggy conditions on a tough course. managed birdie on this par 5. here’s what i had left after a great drive. had 203 to the flag and pushed a 6i right of the green. was able to chip close and make the 4 footer for birdie i forget which hole this was, but the fog was really thick in some spots signature hole. #12 221 yd par 3. pulled my 5i left of the green, and made bogey after a decent chip tee shot into the abyss on 18. you can barely make out the silhouette of the clubhouse off the left side of the fairway the good from today: sand play. i found myself in a few bunkers and was not only able to get out with one shot, but i was able to put some spin on the ball and stop them close. putting. the greens at montauk downs are undulating and pretty quick. my reads were great and i was starting the ball dead on my intended line. i drained 2 20+ footers and was able to lag the ball close all day. the bad: approach shots. contact was great, and i was pulling the right club and hitting my number, but i was right and left all day long. chipping. i think i’ve gotta make my 52* my workhorse for chipping. i like to use my 60 and can hit a flop shot pretty reliably, but if i decelerate at all, i end up leaving chips short. turning birdie into bogey or double because you 3-chipped is really frustrating. Popular Post Kenny B
I needed to get out of the house, even though temp was 93º. I should have stayed home! Bogeyed every hole on the front nine; can't remember ever doing that. Back nine was better with a bunch of pars, but there was the par 3 #12... I had an ace there a few years ago... walked off with a 9. Parred #18 to shoot 90. RollingGreens
I played in my first ever tournament today it was a member member tournament, Stableford format, my handicap is a 13 so I am getting a good amount of strokes, my partner is a 3. I felt good heading in to the event but had a hard time on the course. I was frustrated the hole round. I shot a 52 on the front which is by far my worst 9 since starting golf 2 years back. I had a lot of penalties and every time I looked I was in a bunker. I was good off the tee box most of the round but couldn't hit any greens. Worse yet was my putting... I had a more respectable back 9 at 45 having 2 blow up holes. I feel like I really let myself and partner down today with my performance. Playing for par should allow me to be pretty competitive but I stunk every which was today hoping it was just nerves. Playing tomorrow where both balls are scored. Hopefully I'll have a better showing. Popular Post TBT
Managed to avoid the rain and sneak in another “cart path only” round today (have I told you how much I hate cart path only ) course is still really wet, but I continued to hit my driver really well 11/14 fairways (I think the wet fairways helps because the ball doesn’t run as much) still struggling with my approach shots only 4 GIR putter has been hot only 29 putts with no 3 putts 45 + 43 = 88 cnosil, CarlH, MaxEntropy and 8 others 11 Quote XR Driver Matrix Ozik 8m3 Black Tie Shaft King F7 3W UST Mamiya Chrome Elements 7F4 Shaft King F7 5W UST Mamiya Chrome Elements 7F4 Shaft King F7 4 Hybrid Graphite Designs Tour AD-HY 95 Shaft PXG 0211 DC 5-PW Mitsubishi MMT 80 Shafts RTX ZIPCORE 50*,54*,58* UST Mamiya Recoil 95 Shafts Metal X Milled #7 with SuperStroke 2.0 grip MTB Twitter: @timldotson Instagram: timldotson Facebook: TimDotson
RickyBobby_PR
Played one of my favorite courses which has become the one i end up playing more than any in the last year. It’s a tough course and the back gets harder. The game has been coming around lately and put together a solid round of 38/42. Got out of position on a couple holes on the back and ended up with the only doubles of the day GolfSpy_SHARK, Kenny B, BKordon and 4 others 7 Quote Driver: PXG 0811 X+ Proto w/UST Helium 5F4 Wood: TaylorMade M5 5W w/Accra TZ5 +1/2”, TaylorMade Sim 3W w/Aldila rogue white Hybrid: PXG Gen2 22* w/AD hybrid Irons: PXG Gen3 0311T w/Nippon modus 120 Wedges: TaylorMade MG2 50*, Tiger grind 56/60 Putter: Scotty Caemeron Super Rat1 Ball: Titleist Prov1
Popular Post c0ldspark
Remind me not to walk when the temperature's supposed to reach the mid 90s, especially on a particularly hilly course. Should probably have just walked off after the front 9, but I didn't realize how hilly the back was, especially in comparison to the front. If I could have started on 10 I might have had a chance, but I was simply too exhausted to continue by 11. I blew up on 1, 5, and 9 with 10s, but was solid on the other holes. Had a par save I'm rather proud of on 4, and just a bogey on the other 5 holes. Could have done with some better putting a few times, but I think the main thing I need to work on is my iron play; it completely abandoned me, and particularly on those blowup holes. Some lessons are most likely in order. cksurfdude, Kenny B, BKordon and 7 others 10 Quote 3W: Top Flite Putter: Stroke Lab Rossie Ball: TP5 The rest of the bag is an old Acuity box set. Shapotomous
Played last night and it was very frustrating. A lot of bogeys and a couple doubles on the front for a 45 then mostly pars on the back for a 39. I've been dealing with back spasms all week and I was really tight so my swing felt horrible. The spasms started overnight again so no golf for me today. Popular Post GolfSpy BOS
Shot a +5 38 today with Jackson that SHOULD have been much better. technically 3/5 fairways and 3/9 greens. One of those missed fairways was on a short par 4 where my 5 wood was pin right, but left of the green (244 yards). One was a tremendous topped hybrid that went… well not very far. I had some super crisp swings and some reallllly bad swings. I also has a bad day putting, even though that stats look fine (8 two putts and 1 one putt. I left 4 of my first putts within inches of the cup, including an infuriating eagle attempt on the lone par 5 from about 12 feet. The second shot was my shot of the day. The Arccos shot below doesn’t show it well but the approach shot needed to be high enough to get over some trees and landed and stopped 12 feet right of the cup. I’m starting to feel really good about my chipping. Had two chips that were easy tap ins and 3 others that were VERY marketable par saves if I had putted better. Jackson had a blast, and tried to play some more holes from the forward tees. But he was very tired and hot by the end. He’s enjoying the new clubs, but still getting used to them. Oh and that is a new Puma hat that he has on there too. Seems he likes Orange like his dad does too.
