MaxEntropy
I was thinking about my poor putting in my afternoon 9 last night - I think the biggest issue became that since I was so unsure of breaks, I became very timid. The one time I thought I had a pretty good read, I blasted it 10 feet past the hole. It was really a strange experience. I don't always execute well, but it is rare I have no clue what is going to happen. Last night I had no clue too often. I don't like that feeling. cksurfdude, cnosil, sirchunksalot and 3 others 6 Quote Driver: Epic Speed 9* (set -1) MMT 70X 3W: Tour B JGR Recoil 760ES 3H, 4H: Tour B JGR 19*, 23* Recoil 780ES 4-AW: Tour B JGR HF2 Modus3 Tour 105 SW: RTX Zipcore Black Satin 54* LW: TAIII Black 58* Putter: Scottsdale TR Senita Bag: BigMax Dri Active Lite Ball: TP5x or AVX (yellow) Pushcart: BigMax iQ+ Testing Complete, Final Review Posted: Sub70 TAIII Forged Wedges
Popular Post tony@CIC
9 hole team match play last night and my game was terrible. We won - but I didn't contribute with a 48. Popular Post palvord
Dad and new home responsibilities really cramp the opportunity to be active in here, so here is a summary of my golf season so far: No time to practice = lack of quality short game. I did get a quick putting lesson and have been using a new stance that has helped me be more accurate than last season. However, with no time to practice like I used to, I have no feel for my short game shots and that has lead to some blow up holes. For the most part, I am scoring close to last season, but it hasn't felt that way. Started as a 12, and I'm trending to an 11.8. I think the trend down is because I shot an 84 at a pretty good course, The Premier at Treetops Resort. I'm hoping to maintain some of my current abilities and then start working hard next year to break 80. Popular Post CarlH
Senior 4 man scramble today. I was the A player and the only one hitting off the blue tees, with the other 3 hitting from the more forward white tees. 3 drives required from every player. I didn't drive the ball all that well, but we did use 6 of my drives. One of the players was pretty long off the white tees. My iron play was very good today. We shot a 10 under par gross score with 5 birdies on the front and 5 on the back. I didn't have to putt all that often, but we did change the order of putting for the last 3 holes and I putted first on those holes and drained 2 of the 3 holes for birdies and just missed the 3rd. I thought our 10 under was pretty good, but I saw a 59 and a 60 when we got in....of course, it's a net game, so anything can happen. Edit: Apparently, I misread those other scores. Popular Post Berg Ryman
So I didn't have any cases today and I need to burn off some vacation time, so I took a day and headed over to one of my favorite courses in the area, Sunset Ridge Golf Links, on a sweet GolfNow deal of $25 for 18 and the cart. Played with two dudes named Jim, well Jim Sr. and Jr. and guess what, it's coming soon. Yes that's right, a third straight round of 80 for me. but without the crazy wild swings of the usual rounds. 10 bogeys, 2 birdies, 6 pars. The stats will show I hit 12 of 18 greens today, but the issue with Sunset Ridge is that the greens can be large and today they were quick, so 38 putts were required for the round with multiple 3 putts, mostly early in the round while I tried to get used to everything. If I struck the ball as well as I did and putt the way I have been to start the season, we're mid 70's easy folks. Also today, first real round with my new Tour Edge CBX119 Hybrid. A weapon off the tee is this one when caught well. Now I'll admit Sunset Ridge is a bit hilly in spots and dry, but I had tee shots with the hybrid of 227 and 252 yards on par 4's that required layup type shots to hazards. I also bombed a drive 308 down the hill on a 580 yard 5 where I hit 2 hybrid up to 50 yards shy of the green. Obviously I know the elements played a roll but it was nice to look at my Arccos Caddy and see those numbers. chisag, cnosil, sirchunksalot and 10 others 13 Quote In a Hoofer Lite bag TSR2, 10 degrees, A1 setting, Fujikara Speeder NX Blue 50-S Stealth, 15 degrees, VA Composites Nemesys 70-S E722, 19 degrees, Oban Devotion 80-S JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro 4-P, Nippon 950GH Stiff Flex CBX Zipcore 50* (bent to *49) and RTX Zipcore Tour Rack 54* (bent to *55), DG 115 Spinner, Tour Issue Staff Model TG 60*, Dynamic Gold 120 S300 SIK Golf Flo-C Tour B-XS (2022 Model)

Popular Post fixyurdivot
Played a solo round, two ball format at Madison Meadows in Ennis, MT yesterday from the White/Blue tees. Maxfli Tour vs. Titleist AVX (optic yellow). Maxfli carded a 43/45 and Titleist a 39/42. Both had birdies on #10 (one a putt of over 20 ft.). I got rained on twice by a couple of stray showers... which I found nuts as I checked the radar before I left home and there was nothing forecasted. Fortunately they passed quick as I hate playing wet. Rocky Mountain weather can be a real crap shoot. Building on my success from last week, I focused on getting my hands through at impact (not getting stuck). That quick tip has really proven beneficial. I didn't get a chance to thank the pro in Dillon as he had left for an errand when I finished up... but need to do so. I'm finding this particularly helpful on long irons. LHL putter grip continues to shine. I ran into these locals on #6. Pronghorns are usually real skittish but this Mom and her twins seemed pretty chilled. Popular Post Curtis Atkinson
Got out for a couple rounds on two very different courses: Round 1: Pretty easy, straight forward course. Was humming along through 5 until back to back triples on two of the easiest holes sunk the round. 47/44 = 91 (+21) 5/14 FIR (36%) 2/18 GIR (11%) 32 putts (1 3-putt, 12 2-putts, 5 1-putts) Highlight: Everyone could say this after most rounds but was just a few shots away from scoring really well. Triple after a drive 60 yards out, triple on a drive that barely creeped OB, double on a bladed gap wedge (that I dropped and hit another to 10 feet) Round 2: Completely different animal of a course at the club I just joined and going to take some getting used to. Longer, Much more unique holes. The greens are huge and diabolical. Going to need to adjust play/aiming due to the size of the greens as hitting the green here would probably still be a decent length chip at most other courses. 49/49 = 98 (+27) 7/14 (50%) 6/18 (33%) 43 putts (1 4-putt, 5 3-putts, 12 2-putts) Highlight: There's a really short par 4 where you can cut a corner and drive the green pretty easily. Put one dead center of the green. Then I 3-putted for par, but having an eagle putt might have been a first for me. Popular Post GolfSpy_SHARK
We’ll I unfortunately had a later start and early departure to the annual golf weekend. My daughter had a mild fever Monday-Wednesday and Wednesday night she spiked really fast to 103.8 so we went to the ER. Found out she had an infection. Was a very long night and decided that if she was doing better with antibiotics that I would just head up Friday morning and be able to get 18 in the afternoon and play the rounds Saturday. Won’t get into the details but Wednesday night was pretty rough We’ll she was doing better and my wife kept telling me to go Thursday night/Friday morning so I headed up at 745am got there at 1045 and had a up and down 18. I was happy with my approach play, my thought process worked, slow and steady. The wind Definitely messed with yardages for me. Views were great and course was fun but had a few spots in rough shape. This was Definitely a “what could have been” round for me. I had 5 penalties (4 on the back) and a snowman. I aM chalking penalties up to poor sleep and a long drive up. Total 90 with 2 birdies/2 pars/10 bogies/3 doubles/1 other…..snowman hurt because it wasn’t Even bad shots, drive was good wind took my second a little long and rolled off the back (raised green) and I just couldn’t get it back on the green. Was pretty windy and I feel like I caught a few really good drives that stayed in the 260-270 range that would have been out there. highlight holes were the 2 birdies. Put the 8 iron to about 5’ on a pretty tucked pin. Other I zipped a 1/2 swing 52* to about 5” biggest regret hole was a par 5 on the back. Spanked driver and was 185 out. Combination of being elevated little downwind and pushing the ball my 7 iron flew well past the flag and rifgt and what could have been a birdie possibly eagle turned to a bogey (That 8 iron was trying to punch it out of the fescue) was a good day and was able to play with friends and family and also meet @ejgaudette who’s calf game is all the hype he had talked about in posts. @StrokerAce@B.Boston After that headed back to the house we stay at and my daughter started climbing in temp again so I decided to head out, wife was stressed I wasn’t going to sleep well just wasn’t worth it. The killer was we played behind a bachelor party of 4 groups and they took a little over 5 hours to play 18. We finished in almost total darkness but the 18th is near the clubhouse and the lights made it possible to see out putts. ... What really capped off the round was I was hit for the 2nd time this year and by my own guys. In this 110* heat it is imperative to find shade to park your cart, especially when waiting 10+ minutes to hit your tee shot. The vinyl seat turns into a frying pan if you sit in the sunlight. So these guys were not very good off the tee and I went into the shade off to the left of the tee box under a tree and behind some bushes in the shade. Heard the first 2 the off then heard the 3rd swing followed by a good sting on my right calf after hearing the ball ripping through the bushes and tree. Honestly you could hit 10 tee shots right at that spot and not get through the thick bushes and the tree but somehow he managed to hit me although it was a good 15 yds left and only 10yds in front of their tee box but the only place with shade. ... Poor guy felt sooo bad and it really shook him up. Hit me just inside the shin bone so I was lucky, although it swelled up with a 1/2 golf ball bump. I kept ice on it and other than the initial stinging it never hurt again and by the end of the round the swelling had gone down considerably . But he sat in the cart after effusively apologizing and didn't finish the hole. He played #9 but hit a really bad the shot, duffed his second with a wood and then just picked up. As we passed the parking lot on the way to #10 he got dropped off and apologized for like the 10th time and said he just couldn't keep playing. He offered to pay for my round which was so unnecessary and I tried to tell him it was equally my fault for getting in front of them teeing off, although I didn't say I felt completely safe behind a tree and bushed 15 yds left of the tee box LOL. Thankfully it is a little sore to the touch this morning but basically a non issue so I got pretty lucky. cksurfdude, sirchunksalot, GolfSpy_SHARK and 13 others 11 5 Quote Driver: Qi10 10.5* ... He had to hit it on the heel and almost off the club face. My head and upper body was completely protected by the tree and I thought my legs were as well but they must have stuck out a few inches and he managed to hit that one teeny tiny window. Never been hit in over 40 years then twice in 4 months. I use my club/ball towel to cover the seat but that is a good idea to take a separate one. I was hit similarly many years ago on the foot and I was parallel to the ball and it was just shanked. I was also lucky. We have a couple guys who play the next forward set of Tees and they try to “creep” up, noooooo way, bring LH there’re right in my line of sight and I make them get back. Popular Post CarlH
One of those rounds I'd just as soon forget about. Out of sync all day and my frustrations just added to the problems.
