A couple missed greens I really felt the pressure to get up and down. I did have 3 penalty strokes during the round, which combined with the lack of making any of those reasonable birdie putts, will always linger on what could have been. Popular Post Kenny B
My wife's brother came over from Seattle and the 3 of us played this morning. I didn't start out very well except for the birdie on the par 3 #4. Shot 44 on the front nine. On the back nine I had 7 pars, 1 bogey, and an eagle on the par 4 #14 hole. It's our drivable par 4 which I usually can't drive from our Blue tees, but we played the White tees because my BIL can't play like he used to. I drove onto the front of the green, all carry over a bunker and penalty area, and made a 35 footer for eagle. Shot 34 on the back nine, so a round of 78. tony@CIC
I was a sub in Men's 9 hole league match play last night - not a pretty night given the weather. Based on the initial forecast we thought we could get through most of it before the heavy stuff hit...not! It started pouring on #1 and continued through 9. Fortunately before I left the house I threw my Hydrolite jacket into my cart - the other guys didn't have any rain gear. My partner got a 53 (he's a pretty good player). He lost 5 balls because it was raining so hard we couldn't see them. On one drive he lost his club and just missed the guys standing in back of him . I ended up with a 52 and that was with 2 pars - that's how bad my game was! One of the guys we were playing against - a low single digit handicapper got a 45. Definitely not an enjoyable night. However my partner and I ended at 1 up. And of course the rain stopped right after #9. The pic below is of the weather about 40 min before we started. cksurfdude
Tee shots continue to befuddle me, apparently. Left, right, topped. Topped several over only 9 holes. Hmm. On the flip side full swing shots after those tee shots are showing improvement. Blocked a few a little to the right .. but that's a part of ongoing swing changes .. so not so bad, I guess. golfish!
Been getting adjusted to my Sub 70 699 Pro's over the last month I have had them. There was the usual adjustment period with new irons but due to the weaker lofts on these compared to my Mavrik game improvement irons, I was really trying to swing for the fences to make up for the loss in distance. This made me start to sway again my back swing and it translated to other parts of my bag like the driver. I was hitting my driver like a newbie again when I was used to consistently straight 250 yard drives. Finally figured out I was swaying again so I fixed that right away and now my drives are back to normal. I am back to hitting my normal distances even with weaker lofts so that means I was leaving distance on the table with my Mavriks probably due to an increase in swing speed today. Defintiely notice I am swinging faster with these 699 Pro's. Still dialing them in but my worst score in the past few weeks was 110! I was shooting consistent mid mid to high 80's right before the iron change. Yesterday I shot 92. Definitely trending in the right direction. hit this beauty of a drive and ended the hole with a birdie! another nice drive. went long on the approach and ended with a bogey but still very happy with the contact fixyurdivot, MattF, edingc and 4 others 7 Quote Driver : SIM2 Max 9* MC Kuro Kago Silver 60 Stiff Woods : GS53 3 Wood 14* Mitsubish Tensei Blue 73g Regular Hybrids: 949X Project X HZRDUS RDX Black Irons : 699 Pro Black 5-AW 1* flat KBS Tour V 90 Stiff Shafts Wedges : 52, 56, 60 Putter : Spider Red Bag : lightweight cart bag | Dry Series Bag Ball : TP5 PIX (2019) | ProV1x (2021) Rangefinder : ULT-X Pushcart : M5 GPS DHC Electric Push Cart SoCal, USA Right handed HDCP 16.

Josh Ross
Been messing around with a slight change at the top of my swing this week in my yard. Didn't want to use it yet because I have two tournaments coming up where I'm expected to be the guy carrying the team so I want to be sharp. So I'm at the range before my practice round and I can't hit a decent shot to save my life and even hit the first shank I've hit in years. It was so bad I almost cancelled the round because out of 20 balls not one was anything usable on the golf course. Decided to try the new hand position and voila, the best ball striking I've had in years! Ended up shooting +1 through 8 holes (couldn't finish due to weather) and would've been better but I outdrove a drivable par 4 and it went in the river behind the green. Really excited to see where this takes my game! Took a quick video of my newish swing and it's very Rahm like with a much shorter backswing but my distances didn't suffer at all. I'll take it! Only used the gps mode for Shot Scope V3 and shot a lousy 45/42:87 with birdies on Par 4 #7 and #14. Just wanted to see how stiff my body was from the rearend accident yesterday. yup, I was mobile but stiff. Went to dr later and got checked out….no broken bones but right side muscles are very tight….inflamed. I got muscle relaxer and anti inflammatory meds. Right Leg feels numb when sitting. Take it easy for a few days. Results from Car accidents can sometimes take a couple days to feel. sirchunksalot, GolfSpy_SHARK, tony@CIC and 1 other 4 Quote Rick Left Hand, Driver; PXG 0311XF Cypher 50 gr Senior 5 wood; Ping 425, Senior Shaft 55 gr 7 wood; Ping 425, Senior Shaft 55 gr 5 hybrid; Cally Steelhead, Hazardous R2 Irons; Mizuno JPX 923HM 7-GW Recoil 460 F2 Wedges; Titleist S9 54*, Mizuno SW 56* Putter; Waaay too many to list
juspoole
Played a couple times last week while traveling for work. Both at Turning Stone Resort. First round at Shenendoah golf course which was much more open, but with all of the rain, played long. Golf clubs did not make it to airport with me so had to rent a set for first round. A bit unsure with iron distances, but was able to shoot a 77 in part to really solid putting. Rental set has a Taylormade Spider Tour Black which I have since found a preowned one and bought it. Next round was at the Kaluhyat golf course which was more target golf and a lot more hybrids and irons off the tee. Played very well tee to green. Putting was mediocre. Missed a few short birdie/par putts from about 5 feet. Shot a 74, which was about the highest I could have scored. This time around I did have my clubs which was nice. Was cart path only for both rounds and the first round I hit 10000 steps after 10 holes and around 17000 for the round. CarlH
Struggled with the driver and putting was off today, leading to an 82. Generally pleased with my iron and wedge play, but then to miss a short putt, lipping our or burning the edge all day long. One OB off the tee box led to a double on a par 5. Too many bogies and only one birdie. On the plus side, my partner and I won the match. Popular Post GaDawg
I invited 2 guys from work today to play at my club, they probably only play 5 to 6 times a year. Since they don't play very much, I thought it would be best to move up a set of tees so we played from 5900 yards. I usually play the 6300 yard tees. I pared the first 6 holes, birded 7 and 9 to shoot 2 under on the front. I birded # 10 and was stripping the ball great. Reality checked in on # 12, par 3, I missed the green and had two bad chips that lead to a double. Had a bogie on #13, the hardest hole on the course, but came back with 4 pars. Finished the round with a bogie to shoot a 73. It was the best ball striking round that I have had in 9 - 10 months. The two guest were very impressed, they had a great time playing a very nice course for them. Great day and looking forward to getting back out on the course. cksurfdude, bens197, cnosil and 9 others 12 Quote Driver: TSI3 - 10*, Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 Stiff Driver: Stealth Plus - 10.5*, Oban Kiyoshi Purple O4Flex-65 Grams Purred 3 Wood: SIM - 15*, Graphite Design Tour AD DJ5 Stiff Hybrid: TS3 - 19*, Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 Stiff Irons: 5 - PW T150, with Nippon Zelos 7 Reg, 4 iron - U505 with Project X HZRDUS Black Stiff Wedges: Vokey SM 8 - 50*, 60* Standard Wedge Shafts Wedge: Milled Grind 3 MG3 56* S200 shaft Putter: Studio Select Newport 1.5 Putter: Phantom X 5.5 Ball: Pro V1x
