My personal opinion on scoring remains the same, bogeys hurt more than birdies make a score.

Not really just your personal opinion.  Stats show that the way to score better is bogey and worse avoidance and not more birdies.

Yeah my reaction was purely annoyance about 18th 3 putt.

Poorly... I played poorly lol.

Played a new course yesterday and thought I'd have a great time based on my warmup at the driving range and an easy par on the first hole. Unfortunately, things went sideways rather quickly and I somehow managed to accumulate 18 strokes in PENALTIES for a grand total of 99 for the round.

It seems every time I think the driver is under control (or close to it) I experience a round like I did yesterday. The three rounds played immediately prior went 85, 86, 86. The most sickening part of it is that I know exactly what's happening and just can't seem to get it straight on the course.

On the bright side, I had my best putting performance since parting ways with my Scotty Cameron last fall - 29 putts total w/ two 3-putts on the card.

Looks like I'll be spending some more time on the range really trying to dial in my swing changes so I don't have to think about it so much on the course. Hopefully then, I'll be able to keep the ball in play.

Ahhh swing changes. The great humbler of the masses.

Struggled with my short wedge shots today (despite having just worked on that area a couple of days ago).  Also had some wayward shots causing me to punch out to get back in position.  Anyway....shot an 83 today.  Hit my second shot OB on our opening hole (par 5) and managed to get a bogey, then parred the next two holes and thought it'd be a good day .... that's when the trouble set in 🙂 .   44 on the front, 39 on the back.  2 doubles, no birdies.

Dear Lord I hit it poorly today and thanks to 80 yard wide fairways it didn’t cost me too bad. Played the front in 2 over and the back in -1 for 73. Piped a tee ball on 18 and promptly rinsed a SW in the pond to make a smooth double after I got it to -3 for the back. The ball striking got better after a few holes but fought the driver all damn day. I hit two good tee balls all round and wasted the one I hit on 18.

I am well aware. The devil on my shoulder talked me into a dumb club choice. At the end of the round when I looked at the score I was not too upset.

Unexpected 97 today. 45/52. Working on my swing so had zero expectations of breaking 100 today. Driver was a mess although no shanks today. Lost 5 balls from driver alone.  Short game and putting saved me. Bye bye SIK. Two three putts and two one putts with the TA.  Irons got better once I adjusted my grip as I was leaving the face open. 4570418B-E65B-48EF-A332-25A35084E9A6.png.f0b6809fa70d9e555237d2e3cf18fa20.png

That's another great round and a good way to salvage a score on a day when the driver is acting up.

I was debating wether to post this or not, but golf is golf and I guess we all go through tough times. I played the absolute worst I have ever played in my life yesterday. I stopped counting and debated on throwing my clubs in the water that my ball liked so much. I was extremely frustrated and just couldnt get out of my funk. What a horrible day, lessons learned though and I will keep at it and keep trying to get better.

Don’t worry it’ll all come back.  I went thru a similar spell a short time ago and was, like you not happy.  Keep the faith, after all Golf is a 4 letter word.
