Also got out of the bunker in 1 try everytime i was in the bunker. This is pretty amazing for me. The T-grind Edel wedges is working well for me from the bunkers because you don't need to open it up much to expose the bounce. Popular Post revkev
Today was weird in that I haven’t play my own ball for 18 holes in forever. I play a nine hole league where I play my own ball but my 18 hole round are funny money games with ridiculous rules. Last weekend we took on a Korn Ferry Tour player where he played the tips and we a scramble from the forward tees. He still beat us. It was so much fun to watch though - Today we have 6 guys so it was a no brainer - 3 against 3 low ball on the hole. I shot 40 - 37my partners both shot 80 and we shot 70 as a team. Haro
1st time out on a course I played last year. There was a short par 4 with water surround 80% green except for the front right on 16th. Poor management. I took out the driver and drove it in the water. Can not see the water from the tee box and totally forgot there was water. but I should have thought it out before I took out the driver. Unfortunately my fairway wood wasn’t working and I wanted hit my driver ball to a tiny place of dry land on the front right part on the green. Instead went left and splash. Sometimes I go to auto pilot and would be smarter to take out a long iron Edited July 26, 2021 by Haro sirchunksalot, Vegan_Golfer_PNW, MattF and 2 others
Popular Post Kenny B
Today I played better than yesterday; same on the front nine 44, but found my driver and shot 38 on the back nine for an 82. Yesterday I chipped and putted pretty well; not today, well except for that 20 foot birdie putt on #12. However, I did have three... count 'em, 3 sand saves for par... all close to the pin. One on #6 I couldn't see because the bunker is too deep, but one of the guys I played with said the ball hopped twice, checked and backed up about a foot... tap-in par save. Not my usual shot for sure! Now to fix why I was in those bunkers!! Popular Post MattF
Lousy. Shot an 88 because it was the Bataan Death March. I had 2 4somes and 1 3some in front of me playing a skins game between themselves and just couldn't get any rhythm at all. Wait 5-10 minutes on the tee because they'd wait for the green to clear when they're 300+ out on a par 5 and 225-250 on a par 4. How about we hit an iron to lay up instead of a fairway because the result will be the same...you won't make the green and you'll be hitting it again anyway. 5 hours and 20 minutes of agro. tommc23, sirchunksalot, fozcycle and 9 others 4 7 1 Quote In the bag: Driver: TSR2 Project X HZRDUS Black 5.5 Fairway: Apex UW 19° & 21° Project X HZRDUS Smoke RDX Black 5.5 Irons: JPX 923 HMP 5-PW UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Wedges: T-22 Denim Copper 48°, 52° & 56° UST Mamiya Recoil 95 F4 Putter Sycamore 005 Wide Blade Bag: Alpha Convoy 514 Balls: Chrome Soft X Cart: CaddyLite ONE Ver. 8 God Bless America, God save the King, God defend New Zealand and thank Christ for Australia! Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
For everyone having to play on public courses that are just poorly maintained in the summer months, I'm sorry. I was invited to play with a couple guys about an hour away from me and welcomed getting out with them. I decided it would be a fun day and would not keep score even though I always know what I shot for the day. Well on the first tee I needed a drill to get the tee in the ground. Should have packed a small phillips screwdriver to pre make the hole. It was the same for all 18 tee boxes. Well the fairways were in the same condition. Any attempt at taking a divot resulted in a bounce of the club off the fairway and into the ball resulting in a skulled shot. I was hard pressed to find a green spot in the fairway. Much of the grass was burnt out. Then when you got to the area around the green it was over watered and soupy. You had to watch your step or you sank past your ankles. It took me about 6 holes to adjust to this. If you didn't hit the green you plugged. The greens were ok so it wasn't a total disappointment. Hit 13 of 14 fairways. Thanks to firm fairways I was getting about 275 yards so getting to the green was easier even though I was playing back a set of tees than usual. I finally had it all figured out on the back nine and made all pars except for one bogey. I need to go back and be spoiled at my home course. No wonder my scores have been low there. CarlH
Played one of our muni courses today -- one that I hadn't played for several years -- Stone Ridge Golf Course in Eagle Point. It is one of the prettier layouts in the valley, but unfortunately financial difficulties always left the course with much to be desired -- slow greens, patchy fairways, and typical muni conditions. It's now under new management and they're trying to make improvements. Unfortunately, we are in bad need of rain here and the heat's been very high for several weeks now. All of the courses in our area are really putting the water to the fairways and greens to keep from losing them. So, the course was soft and wet, but the greens rolled well. I shot a 78, which easily could have been 3 or 4 strokes better, having missed a couple of makable putts. Anywho..... was a fun day with my regular playing partner. We played as a twosome and the course was relatively smooth sailing at the time we teed off. Ran into one group of 6, who quickly let us play through. Here I am at the "selfie spot" where you can post the selfie for a chance to win a free round. It's a 132 yard par 3. The pin and my tee shot are directly behind me. Missed the 15 foot putt, but tapped in for the easy par. Some teeing grounds are that way too... #10: This past month with temps right near 100º every day and that week of 109-118º was brutal. We have a great course superintendent... Your description of needing a drill to get the tee in brings back memories, and I was never able to land the ball on the green without it bouncing off. I needed to bounce it on. Popular Post MDGolfHacker
Talk about an up and down round first hole of my golf league I end up in the bunker and couldn't get out to save my life ended up taking a triple bogey on the first hole. The next hole par 3 had a chance for birdie ended up with a par it. Literally three holes cost me a bunch of strokes and ended up with a 43 which I thought put me out of the money. On a good note I holed out a flop shot for a bird which allowed me to win a skin in my golf league so greens fees are paid for next week at least! Popular Post edingc
- 39/37 = 76 (+4) - 4/15 FIR - 11/18 GIR (2 birdies) - 32 Putts (15 2-putts, 2 1-putts, 1 chip-in par save) Practice starting to pay off as my ball striking is getting more consistent every round. Struggled on the opening few holes (including doubling the par 5 third) because my lower back wouldn't loosen up, but once I got walking a bit things went better. Still losing a handful of balls to the right with the driver when I revert back to ripping my shoulders open, but hit a bunch of really good ones today, too. Left a couple of putts right on the edge, and for the third time in the past couple weeks I chunked my pitch on No. 10 after a beautiful drive. The hole is in my head now!!! All around really fun round, though, and great to keep seeing progress. Popular Post fozcycle
Tuesday net skin game at Plantation Palms…shot a 46/48:94 witH three penalties today. I lost a ball (OB) on holes 6, 7 & 8. Then took a penalty on hole 14. Prob my worst round at my new club. That said, I had 11/14 FIR, 5/18 GIR and 35 Putts. I was experimenting by pulling my 3W from the bag, changing my 6W back to a 5W and adding my 7W. The few times I needed the 3W, I used my 19* Hybrid. This leaves me with Driver(180-210) 3 Hybrid(175-190) 5W (165-175) & 7W (155-165). This will be my bag going forward at the new course. Popular Post MaxEntropy
I played bogey golf tonight, but didn't really hit the ball that bad. I had a really bad break on one shot that led to a double and I got caught by gusty wind a couple times. The guy I was playing had an insane night. We are theoretically the same handicap, but I was lobbying for an investigation into how he is now a 6 before we started. Everybody got a chuckle out of it, then he shot 35 for a net 29, so I got completely waxed. The Epic Speed seems very legit in terms of forgiveness - I hit three tee shot way too high on the face and they still ended up in the 250-260 range, one of them dead into the gusty winds we had. Popular Post jddaigneault
Haven’t played a ton of late as my wedding took up a lot of time. Finally feel like I got my swing back today. Shot 83, made par on the final four holes. Felt good to hit the ball well (and not lose a ball for 18 holes). russtopherb, cksurfdude, Shapotomous and 8 others 11 Quote Taylormade M5 Driver Cobra F9 3 Wood Srixon ZX5 4-6 Iron Srixon ZX7 7-PW Taylormade MG2 Wedges 50/55/60 Taylormade Spider X Putter
