... You Are The Man!!! I can't believe how many people I play with that are completely unaware of Natures Beauty on the course. Hummingbirds, Hawks, Doves, Pheasant,  Roadrunners, Lizards, Squirrels, Rabbits, Prairie Dogs and Coyotes grace desert courses. The fact that you shot a Personal Best (congrats 🤗) and still  included wildlife in your post is very impressive.

It was a gorgeous day out and so much was out puttering around the course! I was looking for the mama deer but couldn’t find her, the 2 baby’s came barreling out of the woods and were playing around for a good 5 minutes was awesome! No bear or Moose today though unfortunately!

... We were playing in Galena Ill at Eagle Ridge and on our last day we were the 1st 2some on the course. Several holes ahead of the 4some behind us we got to a par 3 with a slightly elevated tee box. Right behind us 3 fawn and a doe came onto the last green about 40 yds behind us and were romping and playing. All of a sudden they all took off at full speed into the trees on the other side of our hole closing the 200 yds in a wink of an eye. We wondered what spooked them and then a Huge Buck comes out of the woods and looks over at us like "Kids, what can you do?" and then head held high he trotted into the woods behind them. 😂

putter was on fire, driving for the most part was 🔥. Course was semi wet and I Definitely was short changed with a couple 290 drives that had 0 roll.. 2nd shots were still a minor struggle but short game was just ridiculous with close chips and draino putts. (No 3 putts)

9/18 were a par 4/5 and I drained birdie putts from 32 and 19, just couldn’t miss it felt like.

had some great views out there too with wildlife with a crane and some baby deer

7:00 am Tee Time.  Cart Path Only (CPO) so understandingly wet Fareways.  Greens were cut which was surprising and were in great shape but a little slow.
Driver was OK (no roll) but irons were flying high and long.  It’s amazing what can happen when the ball finds the middle of the club face!  Shot +3.
One of of 4some had one of the best Tee to Green Day’s I’ve ever seen him play……only problem COULD NOT PUTT.  He did make 2 Birdies but left at least 3 out there.  He’ll be in my Bacon Boyz Friday group so we’ll see what happens 😱

More rain today and tonight so another CPO day tomorrow.

Maybe silly, but I got paired with another mid-cap at a scramble today, and combined with a pretty forgiving course, took away my first golf trophy...

Nothing in comparison to you guys who play real comps or for money games, but it's still a nice feeling. I hit the ball well, and thankfully when I didn't the other mid-cap in our group did.

👍👍

... I have been putting this off for too long and finally decided to make a swing change. Talked with a PT specializing in golf and he said if I want to keep playing I had to make the change to protect my back. While I am not saying my swing looks like either, think less Freddie Couples and more Ernie Els. I have always had an X factor wind between my hips and shoulders and this is the problem for someone approaching 70. PT wanted me to turn my entire body with less difference between my hips and shoulders or more simply just turn my hips more to lessen the difference. My body has become more active to protect my stiff back so he wanted me to use it instead of fighting it. Certainly makes sense.

... First round was a disaster as most first rounds with a new swing tend to be. 2nd round was better but started tp regress on the back 9. 3rd round yesterday just really clicked for me. Started off very strong but again by the back 9 I started to hit some pushes and pulls with 2 bogies but had to get up and down several times as my body and arms were losing sync. When you swing one way for 40 years it ain't that easy to just change to something that feels very different. The good news is when in sync, it feels great. When out of sync it feels like my body and arms are fighting each other. The best news is my back never stiffened up more while playing and it has been as pain free as I can expect, meaning still hurts when I play but not as much as usual. I will have to take a 3 or 4 day "vacation" from playing as temps are getting above 110* but really looking forward to getting back out there when the temp gets back to 105* and below this weekend.

... Btw, putting my back 9 woes into perspective even though the pressure almost got to him on the last few holes, my playing pard was thrilled to break 90 for the second time! Played the whites but all par 3's from the tips so adding 154yds to the 6264 brings it to 6416 and the 221yd 7th is a brute.

Yes it is, and I'm tired of it!  The last few days it was only 91-95º, but with the smoke in the air from Oregon fires, it's holding in the heat and humidity.  I can't remember ever seeing 80% humidity in the summer.  Today it's back up to 105 for the next few days.

I'm playing tomorrow on the only other USGA-designated desert course in WA... Horn Rapids GC, but you wouldn't know it was desert anymore; houses built all over the course in the last year!!!

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

You're right about Boundary Objects, you don't get relief from them.  Its also acceptable for a Committee to define artificial objects on a course as Integral Objects, and you don't get relief from Integral Objects.  A couple of examples include stone walls crossing the course at North Berwick, and both Granny Clark's Wynd across 18 and the actual road on 17 at the Old Course.  I'm not sure if that wall on 17 is a Boundary Object or an Integral Object.

I believe that in general the silo on the golf course would be an Immovable Obstruction, and you'd qualify for free relief if it impacts your stance or area of your intended swing.  You would NOT get relief if the silo was not on the golf course, i.e. if it's located out of bounds, or if your ball is in a penalty area (16.1a(2)).

Thank you to everyone who commented and weighed in. Yes the silo was an integral object. Well if free relief is the word then I have officially shot my first under par 9, shot a -1(35) which included a bogey on 18 😬. Unfortunately was not my best round ever because I started the first 5 at +6 and proceeded to go bogey free for 12 straight holes.

Got to play Owls Nest yesterday as my vacation continues. It was a beautiful if breezy afternoon. Started on the back with a short post three, but wind of the right when I fight pulls not the easiest start. But after that things got going well. For the sake of my review I hit the Max LS as much as possible. Even number 11 which for any have played it is pretty stupid but I pulled it off, had about 30 years left and got up and down for birdie.

From there the iron game struggled a bit as I have not had many uneven lies given my home course it's in a good plane so had to get used to that. Finally got in a groove in the middle of the round. Especially with the Max LS. I was looking it is the tee. Even with a couple very sorry drives up hill into wind my average was 249 and Shot Scope had my performance average at 264. By far my best driving round.

If it weren't for two silly the putts on the last two holes it would have been quite the round. Still ended up going 39/40 for a 79. Very happy considering I played longer tees than normal. Though not the backs so I could avoid this rediculous tee box on one par three, just for you @B.Boston

Interesting to start off that back. You miss out on ending on 18, but overall I like the front better.

The front is more enjoyable though views are way better on the back. Only issue was wind was into on all the downhill holes so no really big bombs. And of course gotta work on that home course advantage for whatever team I am on.

Just a passing rain shower by FL standards 🙂.  Is the blue dot where The Villages is located?  I thought they were much closer to Orlando.

PB Alert!

played an awesome 9 with my son and father in law today! Before I get to my round details I need to share this bomb from Jackson! He played well and had a lot of fun.

I shot a 34 (-1) which is a person best for me on 9 holes. Driving was once again a positive strokes gained for me! While distance is down, most driver shots were up hill or into a steady wind. I also had a 206 yard 7-iron and 258 yard hybrid… the second longest drive of the day.

putting was on fire. I had 12 putts on the day (6 one putts and 3 two putts).

Arccos is a little off because I played the “back 9” men’s tees but in Arccos it was the front. I actually got an eagle on 5 and a par on 9 as the tee box changes for the back and they swap between being a par 4 and 5.

Little man with the Hovland recoil!!!  Absolute bomb!

First of all, you better watch out with those bombs Jackson is hitting. That was really impressive and he'll be or driving you in no time.

Congratulations on the new PB! That's a great score and hopefully you can keep up the stellar play.
