Popular Post edingc
- 40/40 = 80 (+8) - 4/15 FIR - 8/18 GIR (1 birdie) - 31 Putts (13 2 putts, 5 1-putts) Lucky to be playing at home (parkland style course). Hit one very nice drive and a few others that were just fine, but also hit five that were just miserable and off the planet to the right. Was able to save them from adjacent holes for par/bogey somehow. Hit one ball OB on the back par 3 and had a couple good looks at birdie or par saves that just missed or lipped out. One of those rounds where how I feel I played is much worse than the actual score. Popular Post dlow206
Played at Pacific Dunes yesterday and it was amazing. Had never played a links style course before and it was very different than any style course I have played before. Had an up and down round, but played ok overall. Didn't fully keep score, was trying to focus more on enjoying the course. Made par on both 10 and 11 which are back to back par 3s. Never played on a course before where distance is 130 but you need to play it like 180 because of the wind. Was hitting irons well on the front 9, not so great after 11 though. Wasn't hitting driver well on the front 9, but driver was hot on the back 9. Think I was initially trying to guide the ball too much, but then went with the swing the driver hard approach and was piping them down the middle of the fairway. fixyurdivot, Tom the Golf Nut, cksurfdude and 13 others 12 4 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 07/15/2022 Driver: Rogue St Max LS - Autoflex Fairway Woods: Rogue Max St 3HL and 7 Wood Irons: JPX 921 Hot Metal 5 to AW - Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff parallel tip Wedges: Glide 4.0 54 and 58 Putter: PLD Custom Kushin

MaxEntropy
One of these things is not like the other.... 4 5 4 3 9 5 5 3 4 = 42 14 is an easy par 5, so even if I "just" doubled it, I finish +4. The 3 on 13 was worth a skin. I sank a 50 footer to do it. At risk of jinxing myself, I sorted out my driver. The last three drives were good, with this on he last hole. Course still wet, so zero roll, but I'll take it. Pushed the wedge a bit and lipped out the 10 footer. For the past 2 years I have been on a the quest to a more consistent golf game and ultimately break 80. I've taken lessons, gotten fit for some club upgrades, practiced more intentionally and played a lot. Today it came together. 79 (!!) 38/41 - 8 FIR - 6 GIR - 29 putts - 12 chips I started off solid with a comfy par then 2 birdies on par 5s. The rest of the day was a little grind, with some great up and downs and solid drives. The best part is that I still felt like there were a few strokes left out there. A lip out par, a skull f*c!?d wedge inside 100 yards that flew the green and resulted in a double, and 2 wipey drives. But overall, it was a good grind and I am very proud of what I was able to accomplish. When me and my wife found out we were pregnant in January of 2021, I doubled down on the commitment to breaking 80 before baby girl comes. Well, 3 weeks before the due date, I did it. What a great game golf is and we are all so fortunate to be able to play. Time to put the final touches on the nursery... and maybe some more short game practice if I finish early. ST3LTR0
Played plum creek yesterday and finished with an 80 with three doubles. The other 3 I played with were playing whites so I joined them. I would have played better had I put my ego aside and quit pulling out driver which conveniently put my average distances directly in hazards consistently over shooting fairways. It drives us to improve BUT it is also responsible for doing too much when things are working well. We can always gain a few yards by using our feet more in the swing right? Increasing swing speed is a no brainer at any level ain't it? That list is endless. Popular Post Golfspy_CG2
Shot 91 Which isn't too much off my handicap. BUTTT......... Ok, you hear this on TV a lot but I truly experienced it today. I hit the ball really well, I just couldn't score. I mean really well. 11/14 fairways. 5 Greens (which isn't great, but probably had another 3 or 4 that were quality shots in but just missed. So the kink in the armor. Today was 39 putts, and if you know anything about my game, that is just unfathomable. I literally didn't make anything outside of 3 feet. I can't recall one 1 putt, and at one point had three 3 putts in a row, and final stab to the heart, missed a 18 incher. I hope to chalk it up to just being one of those days. I can't recall when I've had such a confident day on the tee, I just knew on each tee it was going to be in the fairway. 1 of the 3 I missed, is a complete absolute mystery. It was a dog leg right around a pond. I played a hybrid off the tee as position is more important than length, only need to be about 160 to 180 off the tee. I hit a nice high fade right down the middle everyone says great shot!! Only we get out there and nobody can find the ball. I mean it's nowhere. My cart partner who hit 3 wood, and we thought his ball was another 30 yards up, was barely in the right fairway, so we can only figure I must have hit the embankment of that fairway/rough and bounced down into the pond. But no idea how it wouldn't have carried it, even though it was into a stiff breeze. The other two misses were completely fine, maybe in the rough by 2 to 3 yards. It was my 2nd round with the T300 and I absolutely love them so far. Saturday is a 2 man 27 hole (9 holes scramble/9 holes Four Ball/9 holes alternate shot. So I'm looking forward to that and will be spending tim on the putting green tomorrow for sure. ejgaudette, chisag, russtopherb and 13 others 16 Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

So I caught up to them on 11 with a twosome in cart right on my tail. So I figured I’d just skip number 11 all together. It’s a par 3 and kids are are all over place. It’s no biggie since I’m a member and I can play whenever. So I walk past them and tell them I’ll skip the hole, one of the dads offered to let me play through. I thanked him but told him I’d just skip the hole because of the twosome on my tail. I teed off of 12 and proceed to my ball which is off the fairway in the right hand rough. I play my second shot and am walking down the fairway now when a ball comes flying in past me to my left. Rickp
Played Exec 9 Monday & Tuesday and used the 2dats as practice getting used to having no feeling in part of my hand/2 fingers. Wednesday is my Big Boy 18 serious group. Played OK (2 over) for 1st 6 holes. 7th hole started light rain bogey, 8th hole little garden rain but eeked out a Par, 9th hole deluge!! The 9th is a Par 5 and somehow got to the green in 5 shots and picked up since the green was flooding and unplayable. We were all “unplayable”. Wednesday after went to Orthopedic Doc for my hand. It’s not my hand but my elbow. Somehow I’ve damaged the Ulnar nerve. Great, now I’ve got 2 Orthopedic Surgeons, - for my elbow/hand and the other for my knees! They are both good guys and they’ll get me straightened out. 8 minutes ago, Golfspy_CG2 said: I'm guessing Yes he did, and Yes he is That’s kinda what I figured also! BostonSal
If driving iron, lob wedge, and putter show up rather than mail it in, I can play to or near my handicap. The rest of the game is ancillary. Not great. Not awful. It is what it is. 39/42-81 today, 11 over. Used some older gear today. Some of my recent purchases were expensive mistakes. For somebody who hates feeling like an idiot, I sure make myself do it a lot.
