Popular Post fixyurdivot
Well, the sub 80 run ended today at Mesa Del Sol. 38/43 . 4 great birdie attempts on the front but could not get any to drop. Both par 3's got me for bogies. On #10, I sent my drive wayward right and OB. #3 off the tee was good but I pushed #4 right and chipped past the hole leaving a slippery, speedy downhill putt - which slipped off the edge and just kept rolling. In for a quadruple bogey . I worked much harder keeping things in check the rest of the round and was happy I didn't let it get away from me with a quad, bogey start . Popular Post DStar
Had the club winter open on Friday, 4-ball best 2 scores to count. As a team we didn't do so well, steady but not good enough to get into contention. I played OK, but drove really well hitting 10/15 fairways. Highlight was the 1st tee. Been having a bit of banter with the assistant pro about how far I'm hitting the driver and he was the starter on the tee, par 4, 320y to the middle. We waited for our tee-off and said I would go last to wait for the green to clear... "You don't need to wait, you won't reach the green today" he said.... Popular Post sirchunksalot
We're off work this week and one of the guys invited me to play a round with him, his son, and one of his son's friends. We decided to play a scramble with the old guys playing against the boys. We played at Moccasin Bend near downtown Chattanooga, a course I haven't played before. I'll play there again, it was fairly open and flat. We started off strong, winning the first nine by two, but fell apart on the back. We scored 88, I'm not going to gripe about that considering we both shoot in the 100's way too often. Those young guys can bomb it and if they ever get control over their clubs, they'll be good. My game was as solid as it's been in the last year, except for approaches in the 25-60 yard range. My ground contact was chunky and since it rained last night, that wasn't good. Driver was decent, I hit some good fairway woods and irons. I feel like I'm starting to see positive results from the work I'm putting in from the lesson. Some highlights from my round. First hole, hit fairway and had 138 to the pin. Hit 7 iron slightly right of the flag and rolled off the green. I hit another 7 iron on a par 3 that was 146 to the flag and hit it on a line at the flag and came up about 15 feet short. Two of the par 5's we used all my approaches and ended up on in regulation. The 18th was playing 480 hit a drive in the fairway with 268 left to the flag. I pulled 3 wood and hit one to 41 yards and chipped just past the flag. Even though they took us down in the end, it was a fun round and a nice day to be on the course. They do have a spotter that watches and signals it is safe to hit but all one can rely on is the picture of the hole layout on the golf card to know it's straight. Another hole on the back is blind downhill and very deceiving in layup area distance. In the days before all our GPS and range finders, you are best served having someone whose played the course let you know about the 80' deep and 100 yard long canyon that is at the end of the runway. sirchunksalot, cksurfdude and MattF 3 Quote G410 Plus, 9 Degree Driver G400 SFT, 16 Degree 3w G400 SFT, 19 Degree 5w ZX5 Irons 4-AW Glide 2.0 56 Degree SW (removed from double secret probation ) ER5v Putter (Evnroll ER5v Official Review) AI-One Milled Seven T CH (Currently Under Product Test)
Kenny B
7 hours ago, Yellow Ball said: Yellow Ball is not an instructor, YB is a destructor. Are you really sure you want my help? YB doesn't live up north. I have an allergic reaction to getting blue balls. Snow is a four letter word. YB isn't old enough to retire. I have to work a day job to afford all my trips to haunt you guys. So bear with me if I'm not quick on getting back to you. But then again, if I was retired I wouldn't get around as quickly as I do and would be complaining about all my aches and pains like the rest of you old farts! No, you won't get around as quickly as you do now. I imagine that when you retire, some podunk driving range operator will draw a couple of black lines around you. It will be easy since most of your dimples will be worn away, but you will still be tormenting golfers of the beginning kind. With your aches and pains you won't fly as far as you used to, and your ball flight will be a double-breaker! Of course, on the other hand you could get lucky and end up refurbished, and we all know how well that turns out.
